A/N Goddess Foxfeather, Queen of Mad Plotbunnies and BUSIEST WOMAN ALIVE (tm), are you missing a muse? I found one in the coffee this morning and it doesn't look like one of mine... InterNutter, TC and Maxwell Pink are all lovely for archiving. :) Readers/Reviewers: Y'all ready for another? This is it for this fic, but the next one is ready to go... :) Og, and this site http://www.wxfonline.com/xducks/ is just too funny... I had no idea it existed before today. I'm Wolver-duck. And another disclaimer to add b/c these things get around... I am in no way associated with that site and they don't know I put the link here. One of those without permission things. Anyhow, the ducks think it's hilarious.

It was the first time in almost a week that they had been able to just sit down and not have to talk about anything, worry about anything or even *do * anything. It was Friday afternoon and hours before Kitty had to get ready for services, Kurt's family packing to go home taking most of her attention as she sat at the picnic table between the main house and the boat house. Kurt was sitting next to her, ordered by his mother to "stop flitting about like a hummingbird!" Baby ran back and forth, tripping over his own feet and yapping at anyone who looked interesting. "I wonder how big he's going to get?" Kitty asked idly, smiling fondly at the dog as he pounced on an errant leaf that dared to fall out of season.
"Huge, probably," Kurt sighed. "And knowing how our luck has been running, he'll probably be some mutant Hell hound who kidnaps everyone and makes us all dance in a cabaret or something."
Kitty snickered then laughed outright as she got a vision of Kurt dressed as a character from _Rocky Horror Picture Show. _ "Promise me you'll never wear fishnets," she giggled.
"I don't think that has ever been or will ever be an issue, Liebes," he responded dryly. His eyes flickered over to where Rogue sat staring out over the lake, sitting on the pier next to Todd, Lance and Amara trying to push the row boat into the water next to them. Though, Kurt noted, it seemed to be more Lance pushing than Amara.
Kitty followed his gaze. "She's supervising," she explained.
Kurt nodded. "So I see...I'm surprised he hasn't snapped at her yet..."
"I find it best not to question the inner workings of the Lance-Amara continuum. I'm afraid they'll give me details," Kitty shuddered. She had seen enough of the score marks on Lance's back and arms, the random burn on his skin, to know that she did not want to know details. "He was such a normal kid," she sighed distractedly.
"Sure he was, Katzchen," Kurt sighed, though he smiled. "Hey, Erika."
The young girl grinned at her brother as she picked her way across the lawn barefooted. "We're leaving in an hour. Herr Logan is going to take us back, it seems. The Professor said it would be easier that way." She reached up and touched the seam of pink flesh running along her scalp, her staples newly removed. "I look like Frankenstein's monster," she sighed.
"No, you don't," Kitty said before Kurt could respond. "You look like you're recovering from surgery and the better for it. Don't be embarrassed about the scar...your hair will cover it when it grows back in. The scar just shows that you survived. That's all scars mean...survival."
Erika and Kurt looked at Kitty in some surprise, the fierceness of her tone unexpected. Kurt laid his hand over hers where it rested on the tabletop and said more to his sister than to Kitty, "Everyone has scars, some just more visible than others."
Erika bit her lip and sat down across from them. "Katja told me what happened and how she thinks it's her fault that I fell. Mama and Papa both tried to tell her that it wasn't really her fault, that it would have probably happened anyway, but she's very...what's the word?"
"Depressed?" Kitty suggested and Erika nodded. "I thought as much at the hospital."
"Anja told me that you knew...I was a little mad that you didn't tell me earlier, but I can understand that you wanted to let Katja do it on her own," Erika said, serious beyond her year. "She's refusing to talk to Sergei even though he called here twice. He weaseled the number from Piotr it seems."
Kitty sighed. "If Sergei is anything like Piotr, he's not going to give up easy."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Kurt asked sharply. "Has he been bothering you? I thought you told him to stop..."
"He's not bothering me," Kitty said, flushing. She was aware of Erika's suddenly amused gaze as she continued, "He's just been very...attentive. Doing things for me. He says it's because he wants to be friends and he is just very happy that someone else here speaks Russian. It makes him a little less homesick."
Kurt frowned. "He wouldn't do things for you unless he was trying to go somewhere else with his attentions!"
Erika snickered. "You mean you only did nice things for Kitty because you liked her, not because you were just polite?"
"Ja...nein...I don't know!" Kurt snapped, chagrined. He could not think of a time when he did not like Kitty so trying to separate the quality of his attentions towards her was impossible. "I'm just saying that Piotr is still trying to hit on you."
Kitty laughed softly and said, "You have nothing to worry about, Kurt. You know that. Just let him wear himself out and he'll move on eventually."
"Eventually?" he asked gruffly.
"Eventually." Kitty kissed him quickly on the cheek as Erika giggled. "You think it's funny, huh?"
"When it's my brother, ja!" Erika's face brightened as she remembered something. "Kitty, I have something to show you!" She whistled sharply and Baby stopped his marauding of the leaf and came running. Sheepishly, she said, "He's been spending lots of time with me while you were gone...he slept with me most nights."
Kitty felt a tug in the region of her heart and nodded faintly. "I wondered where he was sleeping last night..."
"I'm sorry," Erika began but Kitty shook her head and waved the apology away. A little less brightly, feeling somewhat guilty, Kurt's sister continued, "Um, I was pretty bored so I taught Baby some tricks."
"Really?" Kurt and Kitty asked as one. Kitty continued, "Show me! I can't even get him to sit for me!"
"Oh, that's easy!" Erika stood and adopting a mock-stern tone, said "Baby, sitz!" The dog wagged his tail and sat, panting happily. "Stell dich tot!" Baby shuffled uncertainly, fell to his side then rolled onto his back, all four paws in the air.
"You taught him to play dead?" Kitty laughed. "I can't even get him to stay _still!" _
"There's more," Erika said, becoming cheerful again. "Auf!" The dog rolled to his feet and hopped up on his hind legs. "Sprich!" He barked until Erika made a motion with her hand, then he dropped back to all four paws and wagged his tail, waiting. "Sitz! Dreh dich!" He fell onto his side again but this time rolled over, back onto his feet and barked twice as if to say 'See what I can do?'
Kurt laughed. "You always did have a way with animals."
"That's why I get on so well with you, brother dear," she said sweetly, making Kitty laugh louder. "Baby, sitz! Gib Pftoe!" The dog offered a paw, which Erika shook gravely. "Now," she said, "this one he may not get...he just learned it last night!" Hold her hand up in a "Stop" gesture, she said, "Baby, bei Fuß1!" The dog trotted to her side and sat patiently.
Kitty clapped and Erika smiled. "I _told _ Logan he was a good dog!"
"Ja, but that was after he chewed Logan's favorite boot to pieces...I think the man is a bit biased now!" Kurt slid his arm around Kitty's shoulders and said, "I never doubted it, though."
"Good," Kitty said, sounding a bit strangled. "Because I want Erika to take him back with her."
"Was?" the siblings said, Kurt shocked and Erika carefully happy.
"Well," Kitty said, looking down at her lap and fiddling with the hem of her shirt, "he only knows German now...I couldn't get him to listen to me without a translator!"
Erika did not seem to hear the lame excuse as she whooped and ran to tell her mother, Baby barking at her heels. "Schatz," Kurt said quietly, "you know very well that you speak enough..."
"Kurt, let it go," she sighed. "I couldn't give him all the attention he needs and Erika and Baby bonded already, more than he and I had..." She sniffled a little. "Maybe I can get a mouse or something small, something that won't eat Logan's shoes."
"You're scared of rodents."
"No, I'm scared of being _bitten _ by them....there's a difference." She sniffled again and dashed a tear quickly off her cheek. Before any more could fall, there was a terrific splash and a torrent of curses from the direction of the lake. "Looks like Amara isn't a very good supervisor..."

The rest of the day flew by, to Kurt's way of thinking. His family left in a flurry of admonishments, some tears and so many hugs and kisses that he was sure he had a bald spot on his cheek thanks to his mother. Kitty had disappeared to her room as soon as the house was quiet again, a strange routine of normal having fallen once summer school had begun, people acting as if the new additions had always been there, the construction on the mansion was perpetual and they had not all narrowly averted disaster yet again. He passed through the house on his way to Kitty's room somewhat distractedly. Jubilee and Remy were arguing the merits of pop music (he was against it, she was defending it vehemently), Rogue was staring off into space in the kitchen, a cup of what seemed to be tea in front of her as Todd poked at some questionable lettuce, distraught over his inability to help her. Lance and Amara, Kurt knew, were best left undiscovered. Their spill into the lake had turned into a soggy make out session on the pier in full view of everyone until Anja threw a life jacket at them, which made them merely move somewhere else out of her range. Scott and Jean were in the foyer as Kurt passed, huddled by the door to the study and whispering furtively. He had a good idea what they were debating-the same thing they had been arguing about for days. When to tell the Professor about their marriage. _If I were them, you wouldn't be able to shut me up _... Kurt sighed and trudged up stairs, wondering what sort of mood Kitty would be in. Logan and Storm were gone, taking his family back to Germany, Forge had found a sublevel of the basement perfect for whatever was causing the metallic clanking noises which made Banshee grit his teeth and disappear into town with Warren, ostensibly in search of Italian food but really because he was tired of the noise. Jono and Paige were making a great show of ignoring each other while really sneaking glances and sighing, Sam making it his business to try and be in between them as he played foosball with the object of his sister's affections.
Kurt was only vaguely comforted by the hominess of the scenes below stairs as he knocked on Kitty's door. "You awake in their, Liebes?"
"Yeah, come on in."
Kurt ported in to find Kitty sitting cross-legged on her bed, contemplating a pile of papers in front of her, a pen tucked behind her ear and a stress ball2 in her hand. "These things don't work," she sighed, tossing the bright purple ball to Kurt and falling back against her pillows. "You look like you need some stress relief yourself."
Kurt looked at the squishy ball in his hand, then at Kitty. He chucked the ball to one side and winced as it knocked something , bu, but since Kitty did not seem to notice or care, he shrugged it off. "I'm just missing my family already is all."
"Maybe you can see them later in the summer...you're out of summer school in July, right?"
"Ja." He sat down on the edge of the bed and picked up the stack of papers, reading the heading on the topmost sheet. "SAT? Already? Kitty, school doesn't start again for you for...months!"
"Well, if I'm going to end up staying here instead of going back to Bayville high, I want to take advantage of the fact I live at a school and get a head start on this!" She sat up and took the test preparation packet from him, shoving it into a drawer of her nightstand before addressing him again. "How's summer school?"
"Pointless," he sighed. "The Professor said I had to tough it out, though. At least I won't have to take Trig over again. When do you ever use trig in real life anyway?"
"You don't," Kitty said, moving so that she was sitting beside him, their legs hanging off the edge of the bed. She took to tapping his ankle with hers as she swung her legs idly. "It's one of those secrets you're never supposed to find out, like your permanent record isn't really permanent."3
Kurt raised his eyebrows. "It isn't? Damn it, there's so much stuff I could have done to the Brotherhood on school grounds if I'd known that!"
"You," she said, leaning against his shoulder and poking him in the ribs gently, "are an evil little elf."
"Not so very little!"
"It's not the size, sweetie."
"Not funny, Katzchen."
"Yes it is," she giggled. "The look on your face!"
Kurt mock-growled and pushed her back onto the bed, tickling her because she let him and kissing her because he wanted to. "How were services tonight, Schatz?" he asked, nuzzling her neck.
"That one came out of left field," she murmured, pushing him back slightly. "You distracted much?"
"I just talked with the Professor earlier is all so I'm kind of..." He trailed off vaguely, sighing and resting his head above her breasts, squishing her against the mattress but she did not complain.
"Ah." She fell silent, her sigh making him very aware of just where he was resting. Kitty began stroking his hair as if distracted, her other hand coming to rest on his arm. "What did he have to say?"
"What do you know?"
"What did he say?"
"What do you know?"
"Kurt..." She tugged his hair and made an exasperated noise at the run around.
"He said that he and the instructors were working out who would be going here full time in the fall and who would keep some classes at Bayville. He also said that Roulette has gone to the Brotherhood..."
"The Brotherhood? But I thought..."
"Ja, so did I. But Mystique is back at the boardinghouse and Logan saw some activity..." They had been repainting, he said. Making the house look presentable, at least on the outside. "And Tarot is there."
"What?" Kitty tried to sit up but Kurt would not let her. She sighed raggedly and said, "It's never going to end, is it? Even with Magneto so sick..."
Kurt said carefully, "Katzchen, it seems that...he's not so very sick anymore."
Kitty became very still. "What?"
"The Professor heard through the grapevine that Magneto was quite hale and healthy as little as two days ago. He was with Pietro south of here at a...place."
"What place?" Kitty's hands tightened painfully where they rested on Kurt.
"Liebes," he said softly, her grip relaxing at his tone. "St Dymphna's."
"Ruth..."4 It came out as a choked sound more than a name but Kurt understood her nonetheless.
"It's not the same place...It closed down to the public, Liebes...they deal with, um...well, mutants now. Mostly telepaths."
"How...what..." Her hands fell to the bed. "I don't understand."
The Professor had told him to explain things to Kitty as best he could, given what information he had. For a moment, Kurt hated the man for that. "Kitty, the Professor said that the hospital is now being used to treat mutants, almost entirely telepaths and telekinetics so far, who have...problems."
"Problems." She sounded so flat that Kurt would not have known her voice if he had not been in the room with her.
He pushed himself up to rest on his elbows and look down at her intently. "He sent Emma there, the Professor did. They're not the same place as Ruth was in. These people don't...they don't torture the different. Magneto went to get Emma out but they didn't let him..."
Kitty nodded numbly. "What else?"
That subject effectively dropped, though not to Kurt's liking, he sighed and continued, "Nothing...that's it. Well, other than Jamie and Rahne deciding not to have sex until they're seventeen."
"They broke up?" Kitty asked, her brows snapping together.
"No...Jamie just said he felt like they were moving way too fast and she felt the same way...apparently, they had a really long talk, some things were thrown and now they're happy. Together and sickeningly sweet."
"That's what Rogue said about us, that we're too sweet together." Kitty smiled faintly and her eyes seemed to loose the glassy sheen that had taken on at the mention of Magneto. "Do you ever think we moved too fast?"
"Katzchen," Kurt groaned, leaning to press his forehead to hers, "if you had moved any slower I think I would have died of high blood pressure by now."
"Me? Excuse me? Like, who started the whole sex thing?" She was smiling fully now and Kurt laughed against her neck, darting his tongue out to taste her skin. "Schizophrenic much?"
"Huh?" he grunted, only half listening because he had become intent on the pulse jumping in her neck, nibbling and kissing her there.
"You...going from super serious to all kissy in Mach five." She groaned softly, her hands coming back to touch him again, never lighting for long as she grasped at his arms, stroked his back and pressed his mouth to her throat as she tried to settle on one single sensation.
"Do you mind?" he asked, slowing down his path to the swell of her breasts. "I mean, I can stop...I don't want to push you and..."
"Shhh." She arched and pressed her breasts against him. "You talk too much, you know that?"
Kurt laughed and kissed her soundly, her lips parting under his as he reveled in the soft texture of her lips, her warm breath tasting of mint and almonds from the bowl beside her bed. He inhaled deeply, a purely instinctual thing for him, and deepened the kiss himself as the scent of musk and strawberries teased his nostrils. "You smell so good..."
"It's a wonder what soap and water will do for a girl," she murmured.
"Funny, Liebes. Good to know you can maintain a sense of humor while being ravaged."
"You're not ravaging me," she pointed out, "you're kissing me. Or you were," she pouted, hooking her legs around his knees as she pushed her hips against him. "I'd like another kiss please."
"Maybe for your birthday next week, ja?"
"Hmph!" She pouted and turned her face from him, a slip of a smile teasing her lips as Kurt sought to kiss her again.
"Well, if you're going to be that way," he said in pretend seriousness, "I'll have to take drastic measures!" Kitty's eyes flew wide open but she could only manage a startled squeak as he grabbed the hem of her shirt and pulled it up above her breasts, bending quickly to blow raspberries against her stomach.
"Kurt!" she finally cried, "Stop it!" She was laughing so hard that she was crying, her face red and her hands fluttering ineffectually as she tried to push him away. He was nibbling and licking her now, kissing her in the most ticklish spots on her body. "That's cruel!"
"Is it?" he asked, peering up at her. "Maybe I *am * an evil elf after all..."
"I'll show you evil!" she growled at him, wriggling from beneath him. When he grabbed for her, she phased so he only caught a handful of air, positioning herself above him then suddenly resolidifying and pinning him on his back deftly. "Who says I haven't been keeping up with training?" she teased. It had been decided a few days previous that they would hold off on choosing teams for a few months yet and Kitty had become even more determined to make Jean eat her words when the time came. Now, she took advantage of a pinning technique Logan had taught her and held Kurt firmly to the bed. "You know, we really shouldn't get in the habit of roughhousing in bed," she said.
"Why not?" he did not struggle beneath her but simply stared up at her, thinking that he would not be surprised if he woke up along and found he had been dreaming that Kitty was his.
"Because if we get used to it, one of us is going to break a hip in fifty years..."
"Until then," he said, grinning, moving suddenly so that Kitty found herself on her back. "We had better take advantage of our young bones!"
"That was so perverted I'm not even going to point it out," she said, though she was breathing heavier than before. She licked her lips and said in a throaty tone, "Kurt..."
His world became composed of warmth and wet and need and having, Kitty's hands pulling him into another kiss, one that became more than a simple embrace as her hands slid down his back to press his arousal to her center, his tail lashing as if it had a mind if it's own. He groaned when she started kneading the base of his spine where his tail emerged, making him feel as if fire consumed his blood. Kitty was whimpering softly as he ground against her, disregarding their clothes as he tried to get as close to her as possible. Loathe to break their kiss but needing to breathe, Kurt came up gasping. Kitty seized the opportunity and set to divesting him of his jeans, accidentally popping the button off the waistband. Kurt laughed a little shakily and pulled his shirt over his head, drawing in a sharp breath as Kitty did the same, revealing her bare breasts from beneath her nightshirt. He pushed her back again and covered her chest and stomach with agonizing kisses, working slowly downward as she made small, involuntary movements with her hips. His tail wrapped tightly around her leg and she gasped as it's spaded tip traced circles along the back of her knee. "Liebes," he breathed, the warm draft of air making her make a frustrated noise in her throat and grab for his shoulders.
"Now, Kurt," she said roughly, her breath coming in shallow gasps. "Please..."
Kurt did not retrace his slow path back up to her lips; he kissed her almost chastely, soft and heavy against her mouth and she clutched at his back, her legs wrapping around his waist as he pressed into her, slowly at first before her body seemed to draw him into hot depths without his effort. It was not the furtive coupling of desperate lust but rather one of continuing exploration as they sought the familiar and new at once, hands touching and grasping and stroking as half-words and pleasured sounds filled the room. Kurt felt her tighten around him and the delicate shudders running through her body echo in his as she drew in a breath that sounded surprised and her eyes flew open. Her lips parted soundlessly before she bit down on his shoulder, not painfully, to keep from crying out. Kurt's own release followed moments later, his pace becoming erratic as he lost control of the notion, her name falling from his lips like rain against her throat. They lay together in the rapidly cooling room, shudders running through their bodies for a while after their bodies separated at the most intimate point. Kurt carefully moved off of Kitty but did not stop touching her, holding her to him as she unwillingly began to fall asleep, the papers she had been so concerned about earlier scattered across the bed and floor, the worries of life gone from her expression. Sleepily, she murmured, "Love you."
"Forever, Liebes," he answered back.

1 Heel
2You know... those squishy balls they give out that are supposed to be good to relieve stress. Yeah, right.
3 Really.
4 Way back in Shiva, the mental hospital Kitty's cousin was in was St Dymphna's.
