Chapter 4
Inner Conflicts- Part 4
Inner Conflicts
Part 4
Lance tried to keep from smirking as he saw Kurt's face.
When Mr. Cury turned his back on Kurt to introduce him, Lance could see the
look on Kurt's face.
Anger, fear, dismay. . . all in one second.
By the time Mr. Cury turned to face Kurt, the German boy had his pleasant
smile again, only this time it didn't reach his eyes.
"I'm sure you can work some miracles with this one."
"Ja," responded Kurt.
Mr. Cury moved away, calling out for the librarian.
Kurt watched him go.
"Well, well, well," said Lance, trying to sound smug. "You aren't just
an X-geek, but you are a bona fide geek . . .period!"
Kurt whirled around to face him, eyes flashing, one hand clenched at his
side while the other clenched at his back pack's strap.
"Vas do you think you are doing?!" he hissed, his accent coming out
stronger.
Lance raised his hands in a placating gesture. "Hey, blue boy. . .This
isn't my doing. My teacher chose you."
"Vell. . . I am not going to tutor you. . . " Kurt turned to walk away.
"Fine," said Lance. "But this will look bad on your record. It
might even get ya kicked out of the National Honors Society's club. It
will look bad when you're applying for colleges. And what would your
parents think."
Kurt froze.
Bingo, thought Lance. "I mean, for someone as abnormal as you,
I would have thought it would mean more to you if you could do everything
that the norms can do, and maybe even better."
Lance could see the tension in Kurt's shoulders.
Lance leaned and pushed back in his chair, raising the front legs off the
floor, put his hands behind his the back of his head and closed his
eyes. With his left foot catching a hold of the table's bottom edge,
he slowly rocked himself.
"Hell, I know I suck at studies but at least I'm trying. I'm even willing
to set aside our differences to better myself."
Lance could feel the anger radiating off of Kurt, and somehow he knew that
the boy had turned back and was standing next to him, probably seething in
fury.
"Fine," he heard Kurt spit out, probably between clenched teeth.
But Lance wasn't going to look at him to find out at that moment. Instead,
he stopped rocking, waited a few seconds, then slowly opened his eyes.
Kurt was glaring down at him, backpack on the floor, extra books on the edge
of the table, and both hands pressed tightly against the end of the table.
Had he been in his true form, Lance could imagine that his tale would have
been lashing like an angry cat.
I am a perverted bastard, thought Lance, realizing that an angry Kurt
was kind of arousing. And if he weren't in his human guise, Lance would
have been rock hard in an instant.
It was hard trying to pretend to be cool when one's heart was racing a
hundred beats a minute.
But Lance played it off and just gave a small victorious smile.
That smile was wiped from his face when the chair was shoved out from under
him.

Kurt was sitting on the edge of the library's table, his whole back aching
from the tense muscles.
Lance was taking a lower level of Chemistry, and his text book was open between
them.
Lance seemed to be paying attention, but he was also leaning awfully
close to him. Each time their elbows touched, Kurt would scoot a couple
of centimeters away.
"Fermentation," repd Lad Lance. "Doesn't that make grapes into wine?"
Kurt nodded, looking extremely unhappy.
Lance leaned back in his chair, chewing on his pen. "Cool," he said.
Then he smiled and patted Kurt on the back. "Thanks, man," he said.
Kurt practically jumped out of his seat. "Hands off," he said.
Lance looked up at him seriously. "Look, Kurt. As I said, I'm
sorry. And I know nothing I say will make up for what I did. But
right now we are in school and you are my tutor. We have to keep things
professional. . . unless you want people to start talking. . ."
Kurt took several deep breaths. " Vas that a threat?"
Lance shook his head. "If it was, I'd be jeapordizing myself,
too."
Kurt just glared at him before whirling around and stalking away.
"I'll see ya tomorrow!" Lance called out. "Same time, same place."
Kurt paused, then continued forward.
Lance smirked. His amusement faltered as he took a moment to wonder
why he was amused with the situation. Then he recognized the feeling
that was growing within him. It was the thrill of the hunt, and the
chase was now on.
With a small chuckle, Lance picked up his things and went home.

The Danger Room was never as welcome as it was now. Kurt took out all
the obstacles in a semi-vicious manner.
It was clear to the others that he was angry over something, but he shut
his mouth and wouldn't say a word when questioned.
Logan was cleary disturbed over this, despite how well Kurt handled himself.
And Xavier looked grim.
Everyone wondered if things would get worse.

Lance laid on his bed, staring up at the ceiling, hand running up and down
his chest.
A small smile flittered across his lips.
His hand trailed lower, slipping under the the waist band of his boxers.
He imagined a pair of pale eyes staring down at him.
His hand cupped his growing bulge and he slowly stroked himself, almost hearing
a soft "Mein Gott" in his ear.
He shuddered, not at all minding the he he just made. Water and soap
would clean it up.
With a sigh, he turned on his side and hugged his pillow to his chest, imagining
fuzzy warmth under him.
In his mind, he placed an imaginary Kitty doll to the back of a trophy case
and inserted the little blue demon, Nightcrawler.
