Authors note and chpt 3
“Well, I’ll feel happy if Sam forgives me. He’s just a kid and I hurt him pretty bad,” Logan thought to himself. Logan walked back into the mansion and bumped into Archangel who smiled at Logan and said, “How are you” You feeling Okay?” Logan replied, “Ya sure Warren. You know I feel bad about all that happened.” Warren put his hand on Logan’s shoulder and said, “Don’t. Same thing happened to me when Apocalypse,” he spat out the name like acid, barely controlling his rage, “made me into Death.” “I suppose so,” Logan said, “Hey have you seen Sam? I need to talk to him.” Warren smiled and said, “Yes, I sure have, he is in the garage fiddling with his car. I think he said he was putting in some…NOS? Whatever that is.” “Okay, thanks Warren.” Logan ran up to his room and put the potted Blue Bonnet in the window and headed back downstairs and went to the garage.
Gut Guthrie was working on his favorite hobby; fixing up his car. He was putting in a Nitrous Oxide System into his 1988 Mustang GT 5.0 convertible. Logan walked into the garage silently, though he could he could have stomping in like Juggernaught and Sam still would not have heard him because his radio was on an earsplitting level. Logan went to the radio and hit pause on the CD player.
“OKAY! WHO’S THE ASS…hole? Oh, Logan. Heh sorry. What’s up man? Was the music too loud? Sorry I’m just, um…” Sam gushed nervously, a pale falling on his face. Logan waved a hand in dismissal at him and said, “It’s nothin’ like that Sam. I just came to apologize is all.”
Sam had a look of questioning on his face, “Apologize? For what?” he thought. “Oh for…the other day. It’s no prob. Logan. Uh, it hurts still but you know chalk it up to ‘Danger Room Training.’ HAHA.” Logan shook his head as he said, “No it was no exercise, I could have killed you if Piotr hadn’t shown up. But thanks for the thought. I, um… I feel bad for what happened. I truly do.”
Sam stepped up to Logan and held his hand out for a shake, “Like I said Logan, it’s no problem, seriously. Your back know, i’s all that matters.” Logan took the offered hand embarrassed that they were so forgiving. As soon as his hand clasped Sam’s he felt grease and a growl left his chest. His grease covered hand slipped from a chuckling Sam’s. “Now we’re even Logan. HAHAHA!!” “Hehe. Okay kid,” Logan replied chuckling. He turned to go wash his hand. Over his shoulder he said, “Remember to check the flow through the tubes, if they clog you got serious trouble with the system.” “Thanks Logan,” Sam said getting back to greasing the connections so that they fit properly, radio once again blaring.
Logan walked through the mansion slowly. He was actually happy for the first time in a long time. Unbelievably they had all forgivin him, well all those that counted. Yes he respected Scott but the man was an emotionless twit. He had cut himself off from Jean, the perfect woman, and had built up anger. “Heh, you got a long way to go in that department, Bub!” Logan thought as he lit up a Cuban cigar. He felt something coming, he and Scott were trains on the same track heading opposite directions, and a collision was inevitable. Especially now that Jean was with Logan. And, sadly, Logan felt that he wanted it to happen.
He stepped into the kitchen to get a beer, growling at some students hovering around the refrigerator, eating ce, ch, chips, and anything remotely sweet. He fished a beer from the fridge and popped off the cap as the kids scrambled out. He chugged half the bottle and walked out of the kitchen and through a side door onto the porch. He took a few steps and polished off the beer when all of a sudden he felt a giggle through the psylink. An image of Jean falling onto his back came to him and in the next instant she was on him, giggling and tickling him. The bottle flew away as Logan found out he was ticklish. He gave off low guttural laughs as he squirmed away from Jean’s talented fingers. He put the cigar out and grabbed her hands as the came in for another assault on his sensitive places. He pulled her against him in the afternoon light.
“Jeanie, Darlin’, thank you for believin’ in me,” he said staring into her laughing green eyes. “Oh Logan,” she giggled, “I’ve always believed in you. I’m just glad that you started believing in yourself.” “I loou Rou Red. I always did, and I always will,” he said with love in his eyes. Jean teared up and said, “Logan, I love you too. I’m sorry that we had to wait so long, but I loved Scott for a long time. But now, my heart belongs to you.” Logan, joyful, leaned closer to kiss her. Centimeters from her lips, eyes still locked together he whispered, “My heart has always belonged to you, beautiful.” His breath caressed her lips as he said this, and he finally kissed her. At last their hearts became one.
On the second floor, overlooking the almost movie like kiss between Jean and Logan, a window opened upon the scene. A solitary man with eyes that saw nothing but the ruby red haze of the world through the quartz glasses he had to wear glared down on the new couple. Rage and anger rolled from Scott Summers in waves that grew bigger and bigger as he saw his soon to be former wife move on with her life. To him a killer, a wild beast who should be put down like a lame horse, was touching his thing. He hated that, and he began to hate her. “So, she likes animals and killers now huh?” he thought. “Well I’ll show her a killer. She’ll see an animal, and I’ll be proven right. I’m always right. And Logan is finished.”
