Into the Mansion
The security system had been so easy to bypass. He grinned as he slithered up the wall and in through the open window. The telepaths would be the first to go, that professor and the handful of students whose powers were that advanced. He’d found the list on Erik’s computer. Then the Wolverine. That would be hard to do; the Wolverine was a natural hunter, he’d be able to detect him and destroy him. His grin grew even wider as a doorway opened and the Wolverine himself emerged from what looked like a bathroom.
He never saw it coming.
He was on him in an instant, plunging the syringe into the side of his neck, releasing the tranquilizers. The Wolverine made a soft, choking sound as he lifted him and dragged him into the bathroom. He was completely and totally unconscious by the time his wrists were bound behind his back.
He left the Wolverine in the bathroom, closing and locking the door behind him. He made his way up the stairs, keeping the tranquilizers handy.
He managed to get the younger telepaths quickly. Most of them were already asleep, and the few that were up had been completely and totally surprised by him. He’d taken them out easily, stuffing their unconscious bodies in closets. The Professor was harder to find. He was in the library, reading a book, completely and totally absorbed by it. He was unconscious before he even knew someone else was in the room.
He stared down at the slumped figure in the wheelchair, disappointed. He’d been anticipating more of a challenge. He turned, searching for her room.
He found it quickly and slipped inside. She was stretched out on her bed, sound asleep. The moonlight washed over her, illuminating her snowy hair. He stared at her for a moment, allowing his hate for her to swell up inside him, then went to the window, closing the curtains rightly. She wouldn’t be able to hurt him now; she needed to be able to see the sky in order for her powers to work.
He grinned, pulling a long piece of rope from his knapsack and approaching her still-sleeping form.
