Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Logan:
I've always been fascinated by the female species. They ain't nothing like men. Sometimes it seems like they don't have any logic, but they can talk you into knots. No secret that I'm a big fan of the female body. The way it feels and smells and tastes. Every woman's body is different and they all give off different smells. Some more pleasant than others. When the kid, Jenny, was in the hospital, I only saw her briefly. Jean had asked me to try and identify Creed's handiwork. His smell was thick around her, it made me sick. But it looked different. Odd. For one thing, she was still breathing. Not like Creed at all. Then we took her out of the hospital and to the Institute. I went looking for my old pal. Didn't find him. He'd hopped a train and headed south.
Next time I was in Xavier's place I smelled the girl again. She was walking up real quiet, like she might run away. Didn't smell fejustjust a little nervousness. Then I noticed the subtle difference in her trace. The first way a woman changes is chemically. Long before anything shows up on an ultrasound. Kinda fascinating the way they naturally slide into motherhood. It wasn't very strong, just light and warm. I could almost see it in the air. A lot of women have an increase in body temperature, they can't control it and can't adjust it easily. Jenny was sweating, but it wasn't from exertion, it was from the preganancy. When I talked to her, she got scared.
Can't say I blame the kid for being scared. She's carrying the offspring of a monster as a result of a violent encounter. I've seen a lot in my day. She was just another victim who got stuck with bad timing and a broken arm. I cursed Victor, not a new thing, but I cursed him nontheless. I asked Jean about it. Apparently she didn't know and came running. Now we have a pregnant girl who's living like a prisoner in a house where she doesn't belong. She shouldn't be with strangers who are all different. She shobe wbe with family. Can't do anything about it now but deal with the future.
Talked to Xavier, apparently she's keeping the baby. I was a little surprised, but it brings up interesting ideas of nature versus nurture. I kinda wonder if the kid's gonna try and kill its mother with a rattle or something. Maybe not. Probably shouldn't tell her that.
