Part 16

Inner Conflicts -- Part 16 Inner Conflicts Part 16 Friday always brought out the rowdiness of the Brotherhood of Mutants tenants.  No matter how early they had to get out of bed, everyone looked forward to the school dismissal bell, even if it meant having to through seven hours of boring lectures. "Man, so are we going or what?" asked Tabitha. "Yeah, Lance, can we go?" Freddy asked as well. "You don't have to ask me," said Lance, sprawled on his favorite seat.  "If you all want to go, then go." "Aw, but it won't be as fun without you," said Tabitha, in what Lance secretly dubbed the "suppose to be cute but is really annoying voice." "Oh, I'm going," said Lance.  "But with someone else." "Ooo, hoo, hoo!  hooted Tabitha.  "Is it Meow-meow?" "Man, you still after her?" asked Toad. "But she's got no real class," said Pietro.  "And that Valley girl talk is ..." "Like, sooo, uncool!!" Tabitha, Pietro, an Toad finished together, while Freddy laughed. Lance did his best to keep from rolling his eyes.  "For your information, no.  I'm not taking Kitty." Everyone froze. "No, shit! Then, who?" asked Tabitha, having been taken completely by surprise. Lance shrugged.  "Blue boy." "The fuzzy freak?" squawked Toad, incredulously. "Why are you hanging with blue?" asked Tabitha, female instinct rearing its head and warning her of potential trouble.  Was Lance planning on hurting Blue?  Maybe rub it in Blue's face that he was winning the cat's affections? "I'm being tutored," Lance responded.  "Blue boy is my mentor.  I'm just trying to show him thanks.  Because of him, I'm looking at passing this year.  No summer school for me!" "Oh, I get it," said Toad.  "By pretending to be Fuzzy's friend, you can copy his homework whenever you like!" Lance just smirked. "But, wouldn't it be easier to just make him do it or bang him around if he doesn't?" asked Freddy. Tabitha shot him a glare. "Well, I'll admit I have thought about the banging part. . ." Banging him fast and hard into my bed, that is. . . "But I'm not that stupid.  The X-geeks would kill me in a heartbeat." "Plus Kitty will find that uncool," added Tabitha. Lance nodded in response. Pietro shook his head.  "Well, I certainly hope you find a way to have some fun.  This almost sounds like an awkward first date." Freddy and Toad laughed with Pietro as Lance scowled. Tabitha narrowed her eyes in thought. X "Where's Kurt?" asked Kitty, as she began to eat her lunch that she had brought with her. "With Lance," grumbled Scott, as he viciously stabbed his lunch with his fork.  Well, vicious compared to his usual 'let's keep our cool' behavior. "No need to worry, Scott," said Jean, placing a hand on his shoulder.   Rogue rolled her eyes.   "He's fine.  A bit tense, but fine." "How do you know?" Jean tapped the side of her head.  "He's close enough to pick up some faint vibes." "You've been keeping tabs on him all this time?" Scott asked, eagerly. "No!!" exclaimed Jean, shock clear on her face.   "Scott, that would be, like, invasion of privacy," said Kitty. "I just, um, scan, every now and then.  I don't try to dig deep into anyone's mind.  It's more of impressions.  That's the most I'll ever do without permission." "Oh," responded Scott, sounding disappointed.  He returned to his lunch until his plastic fork broke from the strain he had applied. X Tabitha had always been suspicious of sudden and strange changes in behavior.  Her so called first taught her that.  Af cof course, her father reinforced the notion of paying attention to her feelings. All throughout the morning, Tabitha either watched Lance or Kurt, depending on who was in her line of sight during the time. Lance was acting like himself, flirting with a couple of girls, acting all goofy around Kitty, and then walking around with a little smirk on his face when he thought no one was looking.  He almost seemed himself. Except, being nice to Blue wasn't normal. . . at least to her. As for Kurt, she watched at how timid he had become.  How long had he been tutoring Lance? No, wait. . . he had started acting this way after spring break.  She had gotten wind that something had happened to him, got beaten up or something after the dance. Did Lance have anything to do with it? After all. . . didn't he show up the day after, looking scared and guilty? But why would he be guilty?  Even though she wished no harm on Blue, Lance was the type who would brag about beating up any of the X-geeks, Kurt and Scott on top of his list. Tabisighsighed. It was lunchtime now, and this time both Kurt and Lance were together. Kurt looked kind of tense, and kept looking away. He and Lance are going to hang out at the carnival like friends? thought Tabitha, in disbelief.  This I have to see.   Lance, on the other hand, was smiling away, holding his books in one arm. That it itself was weird. Lance never carried books. He left his in his classroom.  And he had a second set at home. So it must be because Blue was tutoring him. Guess she never expected Lance to suddenly show an interest for academics. But that was still a heck of a lot more believable than Kurt and Lance being friends. A moment later, she realized that they both had disappeared from her sight. Dammit!  They must have ported. X Kurt leaned against the trunk of a tree, trying to act relaxed. Truth was, he was even more nervous about being so close to Lance. Yesterday's conversation kept playing through his head every moment, he he tried to see if Lance was still feeling upset or if he was okay with things as they were now. Lance's smiles didn'ite ite reach his eyes. Kurt felt guilty again about being unable to help Lance with his problem. Lance, meanwhile, was quickly reciting some dates.  He, too, was leaning on the same tree, his shoulder barely touching Kurt's. Kurt nodded as Lance got the question right. Lance's history test was today, and Lance was doing some last minute studyinth hth him. "Hey, Kurt," Lance suddenly interrupted him.  "About later today. . . you don't have to tutor me." Kurt furrowed his eyebrows.  "No?" "It's Bio." "But I thought you said Biology was your second hardest subject." Lance grinned, this one reaching his eyes in amusement.  "The chapter we're studying is the only chapter that I can pass." "Oh?" "Sexual Reproduction." Kurt felt his cheeks going pink. "Oh. . ." "Hell, I could probably teach you something," Lance continued, his voice dropping into a huskier tone. Kurt just knew his face was red, as he turned away, his breath coming in quicker.  After the way he had reacted to Lance's touches Wednesday, he knew that he would never be able to say or hear sex without thinking to that day. He suddenly realized he couldn't wait till the summer holidays.  Then he'd be able to get the hell away from Lance. . . and condemn him to solitude. Shiiiit. . . He couldn't do that.  Maybe if he was able to find a way to disenchant him? "Are you going to the carnival tomorrow?" Lance suddenly asked. "The vhat?" Kurt responded, momentarily confused.  "Oh! Um, I don't know.   I vasn't planning on it." "Oh." "Vhy?" "Well, since you've been so kind to me, considering what's happened," Lance added, with a guilty expression.  "I was thinking maybe we could spend some time together having fun rather than staring at books all the time." "I don't know. . ." started Kurt. "Please?" asked Lance, looking at Kurt, pleadingly. Kurt cursed himself, realizing that he was inadvertently allowing himself to be drawn deep.  Just this once, he thought to himself.  I'll play along just this once and then start acting more coowarowards him.  Maybe he'll fall out of love with me. "Fine," he said, offering a small smile. Lance touched his cheek, making Kurt's smile falter. "I got you a snack, by the way," said Lance, holding a small plastic container.  "Had to sneak into the teacher's lounge to keep it cold." He handed i Kur Kurt, who slowly opened it up. Inside were strawberries. Kurt stared at them, momentarily stunned.   The last time he had strawberries, he and Lance had... right after... and... He barely registered the kiss Lance gave him on the lips.  "See ya Saturday at carncarnival," said Lance.  "I'll call you later." Then he was gone. Kurt sat where he was for a few more moments, feeling the tingling sensation on his lips, and another one between his legs, as he recalled Wednesday afternoon. Fuck. . . tbc. . . A/N: After much deliberation, I'm going to post another story on here that is doing a lot better than expected at ff.net.  Different fandom and it invovles *gasp* an original character.  *sheepish grin* I personally am not a big fan of originals, and I've read maybe three to four stories that I enjoyed that had original chars.  I tend to lose interest halfway through chapter one.  But again, this story has gotten good reviews, --and threats for stalling - I'm working on the latest chapter, I swear! - and since it's rated R at ff.net, I figure I could always up it to an NC-17 here for those that hate censorship.  ^^  Anyhow, if you are interested, it's a Disney Gargoyles fandom titled Never Meant to Be, featuring Brooklyn in an eventual slash pairing with an original character named Roberto and will be featured in the Cartoon Misc.  section.  Oh, and this is a boto pto people because I'm posting here the newly edited and revised version while ff.net won't see it until I fi cha chapter 8.
