Logan sat up from a restless night's sleep and found himself alone in the room. Taking a deep sigh and scratching his head, he slipped out of the bed and into his jeans that had been draped over the end of the bed. "Rem-?" He peeked into the bathroom and found it empty of the Cajun. "Hm." Grabbing a shirt, socks and shoes, Logan figured he would get dressed before opening the bedroom door to who knows what that regularly occupied the hallway.

Tieing the last shoelace as he chewed on his toothbrush, Logan finished brushing his teeth before wiping his mouth on his bathtowel and running for the door to find Remy. As Logan closed his bedroom door after exiting, he found the hallway shockingly quiet and deserted. He shook his head and headed for the stairs to go down.A few steps down and he was among chattery teens that hurried on their way to class or outside for exercise. A simple look around and a few quick sniffs told him that Remy was most likely to be found outside rather than dodging kids.

Opening the front door and stepping out onto the porch, Logan's eye caught Remy loading a small napsack into the trunk of his red Firebird. Remy was also talking on his cell phone so he wasn't paying attention when Logan stepped up behind him. "Goin' somewhere?"

Remy turned around. "I'll call ya back." Ending the call, Remy gave a small smile and shut the trunk lid. "Oui, just for today. Got somethin' to do." Turning again so that Logan couldn't read his next expression, Remy walked around and opened the driver's side door and sat down behind the wheel.

"I'll come with ya. Borin' here, anyway."

"Non. I'll be back in a couple of hours. Goin' to see an old friend for lunch and catch up on a few things." Closing the door and smiling cheshirely as he started the engine, Remy put the car into reverse and gave Logan a last wink as he switched gears again and headed for the gate.

Two more weeks had gone like same way. What had been the team of Logan and Remy was now just Remy and his cool, cheshire cat grin leaving Logan to stand there, alone, in the driveway. As the days had Remy speeding away in a red car, the nights were equally strained with Remy slipping into the bedroom under a drunken guise or smelling of the wrong cologne he had tried to hide with a wet wash cloth and change of shirts.

After days and nights of waiting up and thinking the scenario through, Logan was finally hit with an epiphany; he was losing Remy and had been for sometime. They fit together for the reason of being in the same kind of relationships but somehow Logan thought that had all changed when he realized he was falling for Remy. The revelation had caught him as he lay in bed and stared at the ceiling, listening deeply to the rhythmic pants of Scott and Jean, across the hall. Lighting a cigar and toasting silently to the end of the romantic interlude of the couple across the hall, Logan gave a few puffs and closed his eyes as the door creaked open and then closed as Remy had slipped in.

Logan was over asking about Remy's adventures and could care less to sneak a peek over at the young man undressed and slipped under the covers to snuggle lazily with Logan. When he was asked if he would share more than just the cigar, Logan handed the cigar over, blew smoke into Remy's face and said, "good night." Rolling away from the Cajun had taken alot from him but he couldn't let his break show.

Days later, Remy had pulled his car into the driveway and shut off the engine. He had made it back just before dinner time and was only staying for a few minutes before skipping out to meet his friend for a romantic lakeside fling. Getting out and shutting the door, Remy spotted Logan over by the boathouse with a few teens gathered around he and Bobby.

Logan was smiling at whatever was happening in the small group. He gave instructions on how to use their specific gifts on an object at a reasonable distance away and gave little attention to anyone else other than the group and Bobby. When Logan laughed again, he was slapped on the back by Bobby, who then proceeded to drape his arm around Logan's shoulders in a confident way.

Jealousy tugged at Remy as he stepped forward to join the two that were still laughing at the bunch of playful teens who found quite the inventive and funny ways to attack their scarecrow opposer. Managing to make it five feet from the two adults before the dinner bell rang, Remy paused as he noticed the warmth in the simple embrace.

The dinner bell rang. Clouds gathered and clapped an echo for each chime.

"Logan," Remy called as the two turned around to usher the teens into the house. He smiled a suave smile before another step forward. "How 'bout we go in together, non? We have de meal upstairs?" He hinted as slyly as he could and hissed his southern drawl that always drove Logan wild.

Shaking his head and scoffing as the smile faded, Logan only turned and walked away leaving Bobby to tend to Remy.

It was Bobby's turn to shake his head and "tsk" at the other man. "Shoulda been more careful, Remy. You can't just waltz in and out of people's emotions like nothing and then take up where you left off, expecting everything to be okay." Shooting a puff of icy air over at the Cajun only to have Remy block it with a charged card, Bobby gave one last piece of advice, "Stay gone, LeBeau. He deserves better than what you play for." Giving Remy one last threatening look before heading up to the manor, Bobby smirked as a cold, pounding rain started along with another loud clap of thunder.

Remy turned where he stood and stared up at the attic balcony where Storm had stood to watch over the activities. Another loud clap followed by an array of brilliant strings of light filled the evening sky. His monterey was drenched and his hair had been flattened to his head by the rain but he lifted no hand to shield his face as he met her icy stare. Remy stomped back to his car and peeled out of the driveway, heading across town to his new found "old flame." For awhile he couldn't distinguish if it was the rain or his tears that streamed down his cheeks. Batting the wetness away with the cuff of a soaked sleeve, Remy pulled into the underground parking of the hotel and chose a darkened spot to sit and collect himself.

With his head against the steering wheel, he whispered to the horn, "a fool who took your love for granted." Shifting into Park and shutting the engine off, Remy lift his head to stare at the wall in front of him. "Just a fool, Remy."

Part Two, soon.
