Where I stood
Author's note: Inspiration for this fic came from me in one of my moods, listening to music I usually have no business listening too. I was just...flipping through my pandora playlist and bam, Missy Higgins showed up with 'Where I Stood'. Sorry it' so short...Nicotine withdrawl kinda fried my brain pan.

Remy sat on the edge of his bed, a picture in his hands. He heaved a heavy sigh and reached up, wiping a tear from his cheek. Music played in the background. He stared at the picture in his hands. It was from their first Camping trip up in Canada.
Remy had caught a fish and Logan...well, he couldn't have been prouder of the city boy.
Their relationship started innocently enough. A small kiss beside the pool when the moon was hidden behind a cloud. Remy had been flabberghasted by it, but welcomed it. He welcomed the change. Loved it even, loved him...
But, like all good things, the romance novelesque relationship came to an end. Logan thought they'd be better off...without each other. It got too intense, too fast... and Logan was afraid of Remy. He wouldn't admit it, but he was.
And so now, at the end of all things, Remy realized Logan was right. That it should end. It would have done more damage, caused more anguish had they stayed together. Not that it was bad, but...Logan said they just werent' right for one another. Things were never stale, never dull...
Logan lived just across the hall, and sure, they were still friends...but...it was different now. Almost better. Remy was a better person for having fallen in love with the burly Canadian...and vice versa. But still, Remy's world still revolved around the man...and it probably would for the rest of his life. Hell, a love like that only comes around once in a lifetime, if that.
Remy was still torn though...He didn't know who he was, or so he thought, without Logan. It had been Remy and Logan for so long... Now it was just Remy. Who was Remy? Really? Where did he go from here? Who could he turn to?
The Cajun set the picture down on the nightstand, then got up and started packing his things. He had all the boxes ready. He was taking a short sabbatical. He needed time to clear his head and get Logan out of his system. What cut him like a knife though...was the fact that Logan already had someone, a replacement.... Brave woman, his sister.

Six months later....
Remy pulled up to the mansion, pleased to see it still standing. He'd left to find himself. Five minutes after leaving, he realized he didn't need to leave.. But, fuck, it was a nice vacation. He parked his bike, then glanced up at the front door. Logan stood there, smoking a cigar.
Smiling, Remy slowly walked toward the steps. He sighed and stopped in front of his former flame, "Hey."
Logan snorted, "Hey, yerself, Cajun. C'mere."
Remy didn't need to be told twice. He stepped up to Logan and wrapped his arms around the man.
Logan held him tightly, then whispered, "I don't know who I am without you, Remy."
Nuzzling the Canadian's cheek, Remy caught Logan's lips in a very tender kiss, then pulled back, "Ditto, cher. Good t'ing Remy came back, non?"
Logan chuckled and looked his lover over, "Ya know. I never put much stock in that whole...'If you love something' deal...but...You came back."
"I'll always come back, Logan...Remy'll always be dere..." Remy sighed heavily and hugged the Canadian again. "I love you."
"I love you too, Gumbo."
