Next Week Maybe?
Author's note: I know this has been a long time coming, but eh...writer's block. Anyway...yeah. Enjoy. There will be more, I promise.
A week had come and gone before Remy knew it. And there was a notable change in the Cajun as well. Since hooking up with Logan in such a platonic-romantic way, the guy was actually showing up for stuff...like Danger Room Training Sessions...and meals... It was weird and kinda freakin' Scott out. He'd never seen Remy so...what's the word? Oh! Yeah...wait, what? Nevermind... Anyway... Yes, the change was good. The Cajun was happier, more willing to do stuff with the team...It was almost like it was over night.
Logan was in a better mood as well. And over the last week, some of the X-Men had noticed that the pair were spending a lot of time together. Which was probably good for the both of them. They'd always kind of gotten along in the past and now even more so.
Tonight, though, was going to be special. Remy had it all planned out. He and Logan were going out for a bite to eat in a couple hours...and then, oh, and then...They'd agreed to take whatever it was they were in to the next level. But it had to be kept underwraps, for now anyway. Heaven forbid someone find out the resident Canuck and womanizer were...well...doing the horizontal tango. Rumors had already started to spread, but were easily debunked. They hadn't done anything yet, so it wasn't a complete lie...
Remy spent a good while preening before the date, making sure everything was perfect. He even got a manicure. Hey, before you go saying that that's gay...just wait. Manicures are awesome...and they're very good for your hands...especially if you use them alot...Oh, he couldn't wait for tonight. He was practically bouncing off the walls over the whole thing.
And that's when Logan knocked on his door. He didn't ask to come in, he just..came in. Remy glanced at him, then smiled, "Logan..."
Logan offered a sad smile, then moved to the bed and sat down, "Remy..I'm really sorry about this..but...something came up..so..." He didn't have time to finish because Remy had sat down and looked so sad. Guess he'd been really excited about this whole date thing...which made Logan feel even worse for letting him down at the last possible minute. Why did this suck so bad? "Look, kid, you know I'd be there if I could, but this is really important...and it needs to get done...I'll be back in a week. I promise..."
Remy shifted on the chair he'd sat himself in, then ran a hand through his hair, "S'alright...s'alright...Guess Remy get over it, eh? Try again next week..." He looked up at Logan, then smiled and got off the chair, moving to the bed. He sat down next to the feral and leaned in, then kissed him tenderly, "Remy be waitin'...keep de bed warm, hmm?"
Logan smiled, then stood, "Glad yer takin' this good. Like I said, a week...then I'll be back." He reached up and undid the chain that held his dogtags, then handed it to Remy, "And you can keep these as collateral." Winking, he made for the door, waving as he walked out. Oh, this was going to be a rough week. He'd gotten so used to having the Cajun so close all the time. You know, hangin' out, sleeping together...He loved holding Remy...Remy seemed to enjoy it as well... Sighing, he made for his own room to pack.
Remy laid back on the bed after Logan had gone, covering his face with his arm. He knew he shouldn't be so upset, but somehow it happened. He let out a ragged sigh and went over his options for tonight. So the date was off...he could probably still catch a movie and maybe get in a little retail therapy. Eh, he'd probably just stay in, maybe go bother Bobby for some Halo or something. Oooh, better yet...Nah, Halo was fine.
He pulled himself up from the bed and started taking off the nice outfit he'd put on for the date, trading the black slacks and red silk button up shirt for a pair of sweat pants and a loose tee. And the hoodie, can't forget the hoodie. He glanced toward the window as he was shrugging the hoodie on, hearing the sound of Logan's bike going off into the distance. He moved to the window just in time to see Logan leave through the gate. When the man disappeared from view, Remy's heart fell.
Frowning, he moved back to the bed and sat down, pulling a pillow close. It was amazing what had changed in just a week's time. Somehow, Logan had become the focal point of Remy's life. Why did he do this to himself? Why did he feel the need to validate his exsistance through his relationships with others? Who knows. Maybe it was a throwback from being abandoned as a child? Eh, who cares.
Remy reached for the remote that was on his nightstand, then turned on his TV. Why bother Bobby anyway? THere was supposed to be something good on TV tonight anyway. Or so he hoped anyway.
Flipping through the channels, he didn't find anything...save for one channel. It was one of those...music networks. He paused there because of the song that was playing. Some new artist that kind of had a...he couldn't quite place it. Bubbly, by some chick named Colbie Caillat. Remy swayed with the music and smiled, laying his head on the pillow in his arms. The song was definitely bubbly, that was for sure. Any ill feelings he had about being stood up...just...went away. He thought about sneaking into Logan's room late at night and cuddling up with the man, all the tender kisses they shared...even the hard, feverish ones.
They'd decided to wait to progress things, cuz neither really knew what the hell was going on. But tonight was supposed to be the night that they took the next step.
Maybe next week...
TBC?
