CHAPTER 1 - A JOB OFFER
A figure stood in the building’s roof. The girl, clad in dark green leather tights, boots and a military jacket, had brown wavy hair with two white stripes. A rifle hanged from her right arm, as she waited for her objective to appear around the corner, in his way to buy the newspaper, as he did everyday.
Everything happened in a flash. A silenced gun shot, a woman’s scream, and a man’s body falling limply in the pavement.
The girls on the roof dissapeared as quickly as she had shoot her weapon. That afternoon, the news would talk about the dead of the maffia boss Gianni Perrone, shot in the head from a distance by an unknown subject.

Marie’s Jimmy Choo’s leather boots clacked in the wooden floor of her apartment, while her hips swayed from side to side, making her tight Dolce&Gabbana jeans look like a second skin. She was pulling along a Louis Vuitton suitcase and holding in each arm a matching purse and cosmetic’s bag. She sighed; it was good to be home. Chicago had been nice, but she was a New York girl. Well, not all that New York. She was from Missisipi after all, but it had been a long time ago, or at least it felt that way, since she had ran from home.
She leaved the suitcase in her bedroom, and took the cosmetic’s bag with her to the coffe table. She started to take, one by one, different guns and knifes, and a dissmantled rifle, while eyeing the bill’s envelopes.
She stopped her actions, leaving an Arminius HW-7S in the table, next to an AMT Back Up. There was an envelope in her mail that wasn’t a bill. She opened it, and a CD fell on her lap. It had a post-it that said “Job offer inside”.
Leaving the coffe table full of weapons, Marie went over to her laptop and inserted the CD. A face of an old man, bald, with a sweet gleam in his blue eyes, looked at her from the screen. Marie rose and eyebrow. This was by far the oddest and most original way she had ever recieved a job offer.
“Good day Codename Rogue” the simulation said. Rogue stiffened. ”My name is Charles Xavier, and I wanted to make you a job offer. I’ve seen the way you work, and though you have alwys worked individually, I would like to invite you to join my team. A team of professional hit-man that will take care of those who the law can’t reach.”
Rogue looked at the screen shocked. This bald man sure was full of surprises...
“You might wonder why I choosed you to be a part of the team. I did it because I noticed that you are one the few hired guns around that investigate their objectives before accepting, and you’ve never taken a job for the sake of the money if you had to kill someone innocent.”
Rogue nodded. The slapped herseld mentally and chuckled “You are noding to a screen...this job is getting to you”
“This is my offer. You decide to join me and you’ll live in a mansion with the rest of the team, the X-men, and have food, and a montly payment in an account I will create for you, for a sum we both can agree when we see each other face to face. You can come to the mansion the last weekend of the current month to give me your answer, and if you have already taken a decision by then, then you can come with your things and move in right away.”
With those final words, the face in the screen disappeared to leave an address in Westchester. Marie smiled. At least it wasnt far, she could keep her apartment... She shacked her head. Stop Marie she told herself think this carefully... the pro’s in this are the free food and roof, plus a monthly payment, and you would be only killing those that you think deserve it, not the one’s some jackass wants to kill... but at the same time, a con is that you really don’t choose who you are killing…it should be a matter of believing in this Xavier guy’s morality...
She sighed and got up, slowly making her way to the fridge and taking out a coke. She drank from the can, sitting in a stool and propped her head on her free hand. She closed her eyes and nodded to nothing in particular. She was going to take this Charles Xavier’s offer. She might even had some fun while at it.
