Chapter 1-Darkness

Shout out: Ok first of all, this is a Todd/Kurt or Toad/Nightcrawler Fanfiction. I’ve never actually SEEN X-men evolution… I’ve only seen the movies. So just work with me on this. If your not a big Toad/Nightcrawler fan, then here are some links to some music videos that I rather enjoy. You may begin

Oh and uh, none of the music videos are mine either. If anyone has a good music video tell me so I can put it up... oh and one more thing. I am SO sorry for this chapter being so short. This is just the hooky. If you no like, then I won't write anymore. I'll just kinda... go away and do.... other stuff. =3

A dark shape ran through the shadows. Every once in awhile the figure would disappear, then reappear a ways away but it was never anywhere else. Like running in place, it wasn’t going anywhere, but every time it began to slow down, a dark feeling of oncoming danger would grow. Like a living animal the feeling was coming. Closer and closer till finally it wrapped around the figure like a living blanket. Blue fur flashed as the darkness came for it, enclosing around it, choking, smothering the very life-

“Stop!!!”

Kurt Wagner sat bolt upright in bed, his comforter wrapped around him tightly, a split second before he teleported in a puff of bluish smoke…. The only problem? The bedding teleported with him. He appeared on the ceiling and immediately fell back onto the bed with a loud ‘oomph’ as the breath was knocked out of him.

Finally he looked down at himself and managed to teleport out of his restraining blanket. He was dressed only in a pair of sleeping boxers and his bare blue chest shone in the moonlight that pooled in from the window. Beads of sweat glistened on his forehead and his quick breathing was loud in the silent room.

Kurt plopped back onto the bed and began untangling his comforter. “Why this dream? Why me?” He wondered aloud, his gaze wandering out the open window and to the midnight blue sky. No, not black. The sun was rising ever so slowly in the east and it turned the black sky to blue.

Blue.

Like himself. Midnight blue fur, gold eyes, three fingers. An abomination, a freak, a mutant. “Ja, a mutant…. But so is everyone else here.” He spoke with a voice thick with accent…. A voice that would make girls go crazy if he wasn’t so different. “Heh, but they do go crazy. I am one sexy animal!” He grinned to himself, a lengthy fang sneaking over his bottom lip as he managed to persuade his comforter to fold for him.

That’s right. He shouldn’t feel bad. Everyone was different in the institute. That’s why they came there. To be accepted. But still… none looked the way he did... He cut off his thoughts with a quick prayer before he could think anything else. It wasn’t right to wallow in self pity and he said a prayer whenever he felt himself starting to stray to that path…. He prayed a lot.

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death.
Amen.

Kurt looked out the window again. The sky had gotten lighter…. A good thing too. He didn’t want to sleep. Before he had been able to escape in dreams… now he had to run from them. At least in real life he could keep running and actually go somewhere. He reached over and picked up his pillow, bringing it to his chest, and wrapping his arms and legs around it. With a sigh he rested his chin on top.

A cool breeze blew through the window and made him shiver. It felt good against his sweaty skin. His pointy ears caught the sound of wind rustling through the trees. He loved that sound. It just sounded... free. Like the wind was free, blowing where it chose, whether through the trees, or through the window to give him a small bit of comfort.

He didn’t look out the window. If he did, he would have to see the blue sky mocking him as it did nearly everyday. He loved rainy days because it was only then that the blue sky would be blocked with gray. Also, on rainy days, water fell from the sky. Water was a purifier, something used to wash the dirt away from mortal beings… to purify. And if there was anyone in need of purification, it would have to be him. So he didn’t look out the window. Instead he watched the wall lighten as the night fell away.

Drowsiness washed over him in a wave of exhaustion, but he fought it off as had done everyday since his dreams started. He would rather face the wall, than the darkness in his dreams.
