They had gone out dancing every night that week, just the three of them. Rogue and Remy danced while Logan sat at the bar and drank. For a Wednesday night, it hadn't been that crowded and the music was halfway decent, two things that made Logan more tolerant of the atmosphere. Every now and then, Logan turned around to keep an eye on his two companions. It seemed every other time he did turn around, Remy was telling a young, handsome guy "no", when they asked for a dance. Logan only raised an eyebrow and shook his head as he turned back to the bar.

On the next slow song, Remy leaned in and kissed Rogue deeply as the next guy came up to them.

"You wanna reel in your charm, shugah? It's kinda annoyin havin these distractions." Rogue whispered in his ear. Since Hank had come up with a pill to negate her powers for a certain amount of time, Rogue had wanted to go dancing and spend quality time with Remy. She had smiled pleasantly at each boy to ask Remy for a dance but hadn't given much thought about why he didn't say "yes".

Remy blushed and held her closer. "Only usin it for you, chere."

As the song ended, another boy came up and asked if Remy wanted to have a drink with him. It was tempting but Remy said no as a hand cupped his backside. Taking Rogue by the hand, he led her from the dancefloor to the bar and ordered them both a drink. It had upset him that he was being asked when all he had wanted to do was dance with Rogue.

"Just feel like dancin with the lady, huh?" Logan finished the last sip of his beer and waved the waitress over for another one.

Remy flinched and didn't answer. Taking a drink of his scotch, he turned as someone tapped him on the shoulder and said his name. Quirking a smile, he greeted the young man and accepted the hug. "You here alone?" Remy checked around for any other friends the young man hung out with.

Jon, a man slightly older than Remy but not as old as Logan shook his head. With a rich, sultry voice he answered and turned to point to a table on the other side of the room. "Cameron's here with his friend. Come on over and say hi." Cameron and Jon were twins with Jon as the oldest, each had and shared Remy while Jon dated him.

"Non," Remy waved to Cameron as he waved to Remy. "Dat's all right, just drinkin t'night."

Catching Logan watching Remy over his shoulder, Jon nodded. "Drinkin with him?"

"Nope, me." Rogue growled. "Ah think ya better leave Remy alone, pal."

Jon huffed but left to go back to the table without another word. He and his brother were both handsome young men with brown hair and glittering brown eyes but, that hadn't been enough to turn Remy's head after they called it quits.

"What's this? The Cajun's gone plain straight?" Logan didn't turn around to see Remy's reaction as he took another sip of beer.

Remy sighed. "Dat's been a t'ought. Scuse moi," he stood up and took one last drink of his scotch. "I'll be in de jeep."

Catching his arm as she turned around again, Rogue stated softly, "Nothin wrong with bein straight, hun."

Not saying anything, Remy shrugged her off and headed outside.

He had made it to the jeep when a hand touched his shoulder. Remy turned to see who it was and sighed as Jon had followed him. "Jon, I'm not interested." His voice was tired from the discussion being focused solely on him without Remy having a say in the matter.

"So, that's it? You're just gonna forget we even existed and mess around with a girl? Have you lost your mind? What can she give you, I can't?" Jon stepped closer to him and made Remy back up, into the jeep.

Remy stared him down and was becoming more annoyed than he was. "What can you give me, she can't?"

Dumbfounded, Jon grasped at straws. "I can't get knocked up, there's no commitment after the first night, and I don't have those bitchy few days she does."

"Neit'er does she, mon ami." Remy growled as his eyes started glowing. "Some women want somet'in different dan de others. Dey ain't all de enemy." Stepping forward as he gained more ground, Remy continued. "Dis ain't a race ta see who's gonna be what, an' how many more of one dere is dan de other. Dat's pretty old fashioned t'inkin. Let people be what dey wanna be, Jon. Stop pushin! It won't help us to all be bi, dere'll still be a tug-o-war between de sexes an' we'd be where we started." He did it. He had finally told Jon what he thought, in one breath, and wasn't taking it back.

Jon raised his hands and waved Remy away in a "To Hell with you" gesture and walked back inside, passing Logan and Rogue, who stood in the doorway.

It was a long and quiet ride back to the mansion. Remy sat in back and dodged glances from Logan in the rear view mirror. Remy thought about what he said to Jon and how he was affected by his own words. He enjoyed being with Jon and every other boyfriend he had but his views on what he wanted more in the relationships were steadily changing. Women weren't all the enemy, and Rogue as well as a few other women he had talked to didn't all think heterosexually or homosexually. Rogue didn't really want outright commitment, or a baby, and her times of the month hadn't really been an obstacle. The men he seemed to date were much like his old thinking, "it's just fun."

"Remy? Rem--... LeBeau." Logan barked as he stood beside the jeep and repeated Remy's name to the spaced out Cajun.

"Huh?"

"The jeep stopped. Get out."

Remy stood and hopped out of the jeep. He walked beside Logan in silence as Rogue had already gone in and up to bed. It was late and there were very few kids roaming around. Walking upstairs with Logan, he snuck peeks over at the Canadian. Their rooms were across the way from each other but Logan had called him into his room to talk before they said goodnight.

"Somethin's been eatin at ya, lately, and I'd like to know what it is." Logan closed the door behind Remy. "What was that all about, back there?"

"S' nothin, homme." Remy shrugged and averted his eyes. "Just tired of empty promises."

Logan crossed his arms. "How do ya know they're all empty?"

No answer.

"Maybe ya just need someone to show you what real love from the soul is." Stepping closer, Logan cupped his chin and leaned in for a kiss.

Remy inhaled sharply and moaned as he felt Logan's arms around him. Pushing away as Logan kneaded his backside, Remy tried to excuse himself. "S' late, homme. Stuff ta do t'morrow."

Logan caught his hand as he reached for the door. "Alright, then, we can just lie next to each other." He was pleading and hoping Remy said yes. He understood that it wasn't about the sex or gendre, it was about companionship.

Remy nodded and took his hand off of the knob.

End.
