It was late in the evening and everyone had long gone to bed, except Marie. Like every night, she was curled up on the wooden glider outside on the patio, dressed in her red flannel pajama’s. She held a hot cup of tea in her hands and had a velour blanket draped across her legs to keep warm.
She didn’t mind the cold, in fact she loved it. The cool fall breeze, sweeping across her face and giving her goose bumps, al hel helped her relax. It was all she needed to make a bad day seem better. If ever she needed to get away from people for a while, this is where she’d be and everyone knew enough to leave her alone. However, there was one exception. Logan.
Almost every night, he’d be out there with her, trying to help keep her warm. He’d wrap his arm around her and let her snuggle against him. Sometimes they’d sit there and talk for hours or just sit in silence, savoring the peacefulness that surrounded them. Tonight would have been one of those nights, but Charles had sent Logan on a mission. That two two weeks ago and Logan wasn’t due back until next Friday.
She loved being out here at night with him and missed him most at this time. It was one of the only times, she saw him with his guard somewhat down. Even though he was always kind and gentle towards her, the time they spent outside, was different. It seemed to bring out a more loving side of Logan, that was rarely ever seen. It was the side that gave her knots in her stomach and made her weak in the knees. It was the side, that made her fall in love with him.
For months now she hid it from him, to afraid to say anything. They had become such close friends over the last four years, that she didn’t want to jeopardize it. That and the fact that she wouldn’t be able to give him what he’d want. Physical contact. At least for now she wouldn’t be able to.
She had been working with Charles to help control her untouchable mutation for months now. Wanting to surprise Logan, she never told him, despite the many times he’d question her when ever he sensed her mood change after her lessons with Charles. She knew it pissed Logan off, but she knew lying to him would be worth it in the end. She was working three times a day with Charles and sometimes on her own and knew it would only be a matter of time.
Marie smiled shyly to herself, thinking of the day she’d finally be able to touch Logan, without hurting him. She wanted him to be the first person she touched, without the fear and without the countless layers of clothes between them. Granted she had come up with different options of getting around her mutation, when she was with Bobby, but it wasn’t the same. There were only so many pairs of pants she could cut a whole in the crouch, just big enough to allow Bobby to slip his sheathed dick inside her. She needed more. She needed to be touched by uncovered hands and she wanted those hands to be Logan’s.
She continued to smile, but the more she thought about Logan touching her, the smile faded. Finally it hit her that she didn’t even know how he felt. For all she knew, he wouldn’t want to touch her and could just see her as a friend and nothing more. This new thought saddened her and she sighed heavily. She began to dwell on the possibility of him not wanting her, that she exhausted herself and fell asleep, missing the sound of a motorcycle pulling up to the front of the school.
Logan dismounted the bike and sniffed at the air. His lungs filled with the fresh scent of autumn, along with the aroma of earl grey tea and a touch of jasmine and lavender. Marie, he thought and closed his eyes and took in another deep breath.
He had been frustrated and annoyed from his mission, but the moment he smelled her, he relaxed. When ever he was tense or aggravated, she always had a way to sooth him without having to try. When by her sweet scent or her presence, it didn’t matter.
She was the only one he knew of that had that effect on him. Often he wondered why she did and stayed up many nights thinking about it. It wasn’t that much of a surprise to him. He did find her very beautiful and had been attracted to her since day one. However, he never let his attraction take over. He’d tell himself that she was just a kid and that seventeen would get him twenty. Despite her almost being twenty-one now and well past the legal age, he still refused to let his attraction get the best of him. After all, it was just an attraction, wasn’t it?
Logan sighed and opened his eyes. He hastily pushed aside his thoughts of Marie, before they got worse. The last thing he needed, was to think of Marie in a more erotic way and go up to her now with a raging hard on.
He cleared his throat and went around the side of the school. He saw Marie sitting on the glider as always and smiled. Quietly he walked towards her and as he rounded the patio, noticed her eyes closed. Her now cold cup of tea, was sitting in front of her and her head was propped up on her hand and tilted back.
He could tell by her breathing, that she was almost fully asleep. He didn’t want to wake her, but he had to. It was far to cold for her to stay out here all night and not to mention very uncomfortable.
Logan quietly crept up the patio steps and stood before her. His eyes drifting from the serene expression on her face, down her neck and stopping at the v-cut ope of of her shirt. He couldn’t see much, except for the shadows that outlined her breasts. He watched her breasts intently for a moment, memorizing the way the shadow changed, with every breath she took. Slowly he felt the strain in his jeans start to build and quickly shifted his gaze to the cup.
He grabbed the cup and placed it on the glass accent table beside him. Crouching down before her, he reached his hand out to her thigh. He gave a short nudge and she groaned. She lifted her head and her eyes fluttered until they were fully opened. Her delicate green eyes stared into his. At first she thought she was seeing things and rubbed her eyes, not only to get rid of the sleepiness in them, but to make sure what she was seeing was real. Logan smiled, as she brought her hands down from her face and looked at him questionably.
“Logan?” Marie asked, her voice scratchy from sleeping.
“Hey yeah kid,” he said, in his usual raspy tone.
Marie grunted and glared at him. Although the look on her face was serious, there was still a hint of playfulness in her eyes. She hated it when he called her a kid and he knew it. He tried hard not to say it, but sometimes he couldn’t help it and it would just slip out.
“Sorry,” Logan uttered.
“What are you doing here? I thought that you…”
“I finished early,” Logan stated, cutting her off, “besides…” he paused, as he reached into his leather jacket pocket and pulled out a small package, wrapped in shiny green paper, “I wanted to be the first one to wish you a happy birthday.”
“My birthday isn’t till tomorrow,” Marie replied with a smile.
“It’s after midnight, so it is tomorrow,” he said grinning and holding the package out to her, “but if you’d rather wait…”
“Don’t be silly Logan.”
Marie took the package from Logan and sat up. He watched her adoringly, as she tore off the paper and tossed it aside. He loved how her face scrunched and bit her lower lip, when she concentrated on something. Marie looked at him, then back down to the box in her hand and opened it. Her eyrew rew wide and her breathe caught in her chest. Inside was a gold, oval shaped locket, with a diamond cut star burst surrounding an emerald.
“Logan, it’s beautiful!” she exclaimed. She pulled her legs down from beside her, leaned forward and wrapped her arms around his neck.
“I’m glad you like it darlin’,” he said, as he hugged her back.
“Thank you Logan,” she whispered in his ear.
Hearing her soft, luscious voice and feeling her warm breathe on his neck, sent chills down his spine. He instinctively held her tighter, pressing her body even more into his and nearly purred when he said she was welcome.
There she goes again, making him want to loose control, he thought. He didn’t know what it was about her that drove him crazy and the thought was baffling. All he could think of doing was tearing off her pajama’s and having something warmer wrapped around him besides her arms.
The second the thought entered his mind, the slight strain in his jeans grew and his dick was now pressing firmly against his jeans. His body tensed and he loosened his grip on her immediately. No, he told himself, it’s just an attraction, a natural, typical male attraction and that’s it. He repeated this several times in his head, until the ache between his legs subsided for the time being. Once it had, he casually pulled away from her.
Marie sat there, gazing at the locket. Her face was glowing and she couldn’t keep from smiling. Finally, she took the locket out of the box and put it on. It hovered perfectly about the shadowy slope of her breasts and the emerald sparkled under the soft patio light.
“So, how does it look?” she asked, looking back at Logan.
Logan glanced down at the locket and quickly looked back up at her. She was tempting enough as it was and to have a legit reason to stare at her breasts, would have made the state he was all ready in worse.
“Great,” Logan replied, then got up and turned towards the door, “now come on, it’s late.”
Marie reached out and placed her hand on his arm. He turned back to her, to see her looking up at him and smiling. He cocked his head to the side and looked at her curiously. The was something different at the way she looked at him. He knew he’d seen it a few times before from her, but for some reason he couldn’t place it. Either that, or it was his minds way of telling himself, that the glazed over look in her eyes, couldn’t possibly be what he initially thought.
“Not yet,” Marie uttered, breaking the silence, “will you sit with me? Just for a few minutes.”
Despite Logan’s better judgment, he agreed to her kind request and sat down beside her. Like always, he wrapped his arm around her and she snuggled against him. She rested her head on his chest and pulled her arms close to her body. They sat there in silence, holding each other and before long, they were asleep.
