The Travelers

A/N: Heavy drug use. Please enjoy. *grins evilly*

Rogue knew by the signs passing by that she and her best friend were currently driving through the streets of Bayville, New York. Why they were there, however, was lost to her at the moment. Before she started a vastly unfocused attempt to unmuddle her brain, she heard a shout from the passenger seat.

"Jesus, girl, slow down! You want the cops to catch us with this trunkload?!" shouted her red-headed companion. Rogue rolled her eyes, then swerved back into her lane when she refocused on the road.

"'Slow down?' I'm doing ten miles under the speed limit, Jean; any slower and we'll be at a dead stop!" Out of the corner of her eye, she watched Jean wave away her reasoning to focus on the small vial she had pulled from the case on the floorboard. As soon as Jean tipped her head back to imbibe the liquid contained within, Rogue's hand sout out to grab the vial demanding that she share, that stuff wasn't cheap, y'know. Taking her own hit from the delightful fluid, Rogue pushed the vial back into her friends hands as the liquid left a foul taste running down her throat.

Several hours later, the two girls began unloading the luggage from the trunk of their ancient car which had met its demise at the hands of a vicious tree that had invaded the road without warning. Stumbling through the haze of suddenly having to walk and wondering why the tree had attacked sans provocation, the girls set forth from the forest-ensconced outskirts of the city to reach the hotel in downtown Bayville where they had reservations for the week, at le
