Prologue
Title: And Along Came Delirium
Author: Twisted (darlingtwistedsister@yahoo.com)
Summary: The Institute’s newest arrival gets under the fearless leader’s skin, coning ing him to leave the starch out of his pants and do some living for the moment. Lots of smut ahead folks--Scott/cute punk OC ( Yup, it’s another one). Logan and Rogue are in for some lovin’ too (in various combinations) ^_^ Slash in later chapters
Rating: NC-17
Disclaimer: The X-Men are not mine, not will they ever be. Not even Logan. *sniffle* No copyright infringement is intended--I’m only borrowing them for a bit. I promise to return them unharmed. Cate Robelobelongs to me.
Distribution: I’d be honored. All I ask is that you let me know where it’s going.
Feedback: Damned straight! Bring it on! I wanna know what you’re thinking! But no flames, please. They give me a rash.
Notes: Takes place in my make believe season five.

The fall of Apocalypse brought with it some changes to the Institute, some good, some really crappy, depending on who you asked.
On the good side, Scott’s brother Alex had joined up with the New X-Men, Jubilee, and Rahne returned, the Acolytes had joined the team, and Angel was working with them on an on-call basis. The Brotherhood were less juvenile delinquent-ish than usual, and the Professor and the Magneto had decided to try and reconcile their old friendship.
On the crappy side, Jean had ditched Scott for Angel--almost as soon as he’d begun working with them. So, in Scott’s opinion, Warren’s agreeing to hang out with the X-Men sucked. The fearless leader still didn’t get it--their relationship had been going so well. But then Jean spouted off some crap about wanting to make her life more than about the X-Men and she thought that Warren would be more support in that respect.
Then, about a month later, along came Delirium.
Cate Rowan, who would soon become Delirium, had come to the Institute after Cerebro had found her in a dive bar in Ohio. Some redneck had hit on her and when he’d slapped her ass, she did what any woman would do--she told him to fuck himself. She just hadn’t counted on the guy dropping his drawers and giving it a go.
Now, Cate knew that she had empathic abilities, but that episode of ‘Cate Says‘ was very new to her. Needless to say, it had led to a throng of Friends of Humanity sympathizers chasing her out of the bar and cornering her in the back alley. In her fearful and buzzed state, it hadn’t occurred to her to try and call them off with her new power. Thankf, Lo, Logan and Nightcrawler had gotten her out without incident and she’d been welcomed to the Institute, much to the chagrin of some of the other mutants.
Perhaps it was the tousled, chin length blue (dyed) hair, that threw a lot of the team, the silver ring that pierced the center of her bottom lip, the three tiny hoops piercing her left eyebrow, or the tattoos that adorned nearly every part of her body. It could have been her clothes--leather, fishnet, ripped denim. But all of that aside, it was probably her attitude.
Cate was a twenty-one year old who’d been on her own since manifesting her empathy at sixteen and didn’t take too well to rules, high school gossip, and communal living. While she wasn’t intentionally disrespectful, she did have a habit of thinking that certain rules shouldn’t apply to her. She and Gambit were alike in that matter. They both snuck in past curfew, kept liquor stashed in their rooms, and tried to ditch Danger Room sessions due to hangovers. Obviously, she and Remy LeBeau got along really well.
Cate also got along famously with Rogue. They shared many of the same interests and their personalities meshed pretty well. In a mansion full of straight laced mutants, they welcomed one another’s company.
It was the rest of the X-Men she had to work on her ‘people sk’ wi’ with.
