Afternoon nap
Marie shuffled into the living room, to see Kitty curled up on the couch and Jubilee half-asleep in the chair. Smiling, Marie went over to the couch and plopped down next to Kitty. Kitty raised her head slightly from the pillow and peered over the fleece blanket to look at Marie, who sat there grinning from ear to ear.
“Well you seem like you’re feeling better. What happened?” Kitty asked, her voice raspy from her nap.
“Oh nothing really,” Marie said playfully, with a giggle.
“Stop lying,” Jubilee groaned, as she shifted in the chair to look at Marie.
“I just had the best dream is all and now I know what I’m gonna do, when I show Logan my new power,” Marie uttered smugly.
Kitty suddenly sat up, knocking her pillow to the floor. A look of surprise and excitement graced her tiresome face. Marie just sat there, shyly looking down at the floor and biting her lower lip.
“You’re what? You did it? You controlled your power?” Kitty asked frantically.
“Yup,” Marie replied softly.
“Really? Marie, that’s great! I’m so happy for you,” Kitty exclaimed.
“Yeah Marie that’s great,” Jubilee mumbled, as she sat up fully in the chair, “now what about that dream?”
“Jubes! Have you no decency?” Kitty snapped, glaring coldly at Jubilee.
“Of course I do, I can’t help being curious,” Jubilee shrugged.
Kitty rolled her eyes and shook her head. She figured she’d be use to Jubilee’s train of thought by now, but she couldn’t help feeling annoyed. She always managed to say the wrong things at the wrong times or focus her attention on the less important things. In this case, Marie’s ability to control her power.
“There’s not much to say about it. After my session with the professor, I was so tired and my head was killing me, I ended up falling asleep when I got back to my room. It’s hard to explain the dream, it was just…well it was great,” Marie said glowingly.
“I bet,” Jubilee teased, with a grin.
“So…when are you gonna tell him?” Kitty asked.
“Tonight and I’m gonna do it just like in my dream. I can’t wait,” Marie replied eagerly.
“Well Logan should be back shortly, so I’d hurry up and get ready if I was you,” Jubilee stated, looking over at the clock on the VCR.
“Oh that’s right,” Marie said, as she quickly got up and headed for the door. She looked back at her friends, who were both smiling wickedly at her and Marie blushed, “don’t wait up,” Marie uttered lusciously, then left.
