Disclaimer:
I do not own Marvel or the X-Men. This is simply a story that has been on my mind for several weeks and I finally decided to put it down on computer so I can hopefully get some sleep! Please do not sue, I make no money at this.
Deal With The Devil Pt. 1
Disclaimer: I do not own the X-Men but I do own my imagination. So please forgive me if I go a little crazy with it! Characters may be a bit OOC in this chapter so forgive me if it becomes a little tedious. I will more then likely split this chapter into two pieces, so here's the first part of Chapter 5.
Logan was still not in his right frame of mind, his hands covered with dry blood, not really sure if it was his own or not. He looked around at the carnage and thought that perhaps it wasn't, but at least the carnivores would have something to eat without having to hunt.
Retracting his claws, he looked around and narrowed his eyes. He had to contact Mattie. He loved the old woman...and she deserved to know what had happened to Remy. Her and Jean Luc both.
The thought of Remy being dead again brought him to his knees with his grief, but he no longer had the energy to shed the tears. So instead, he grabbed his phone from his pocket and dialed the number he knew almost by heart. He'd called them multiple times before when he knew Remy needed them.
As it happened, Remy's Tante answered the phone. She usually only carried Jean's phone when she was at the shop. "Oui? Who is dis?" she asked as she answered the phone.
"M.." he paused, swallowing. "Mattie?" he asked in a rather harsh whisper.
Mattie frowned at the sound of the voice. "Logan? Cher...wha's wrong? Does Remy need to talk to his pere?"
Logan choked up a second before taking a deep breath. "I don't think that Remy's gonna be needin' to talk ta anyone anymore Mattie. I...Jesus Mattie...there's no easy way to say this," he said softly as he felt his eyes burn.
Mattie's frowned deepend and she felt a cold hand clench at her heart...and a really hard knot in the pit of her stomach.
"Non...you...non...my Remy ain'..." she said, unable to get the words out as she took in a shuttering breath.
Logan couldn't hold it in anymore and began to sob. "I'm so sorry Mattie. Remy's dead," he said before letting out an animalistic wail. It was a heartbreaking sound...one that let others know the loss of his mate.
Mattie began shaking on the other end, tears slipping down her weathered cheeks as she closed her eyes, trying to catch her breath and push back the nausea.
"Logan," she said softly, her voice cracking. "I'm...I'll be up dere...and I'm tellin' Jean Luc. If dere's anyt'ing I do well, it's savin' da soul. An' I'm gonna save my boy's soul," she said before becoming lost in her grief.
They sat there on the phone for a good 10 minutes just crying their hearts out, sharing their pain and their grief. They didn't need words. They knew the gut wrenching pain that each suffered, just as Tante Mattie had known before they had even known, that Logan and Remy would be together. This, however, was something she couldn't have figured.
She'd read the cards, over and over and over again. They all pointed to love and then to change...but not to death. But then something struck her. What if the death was the change? What if it meant that he would change bodies? Keep the same soul? She wondered if she could maybe capture some of Remy's memories.
Sniffling, she began to smile. "Logan, I know of a way to save our petite...I can save him wit' some help. You're gonna have to do somet'in dat you might not like, but it'll save him cher. You gonna have ta strike a deal wit' da devil," she said, her voice still a bit shaky.
Logan had finally stopped the onslaught of tears and frowned when she said that, wiping his face. "Wh...what do you mean?" he asked as he cleared his throat.
"What I mean cher is dat you gonna have to go to a man dat hurt our boy in so many ways, so many times dat you wanna kill him. But he may be da only one who can save him," she said with a shake of her head. She hated the idea of doing it but she would do anything to save her child.
Logan said nothing for a few minutes before sighing. "Can I kill 'im after he saves 'im?" he asked on a slightly annoyed growl which made the older woman chuckle a bit. "Oui. You can. Jus'...be careful if you do," she said in a warning voice.
Logan nodded and smirked a bit. "Yeah. Yer still gonna have to tell Jean Luc though. This is gonna tear him up," he said as he closed his eyes and slowly stood up.
Mattie sighed softly and nodded. "Gonna close the shop down for a while. We gonna go up dere together...bury his body. I'm gonna save his soul t'ough and den you can go to him."

Mattie was helped out of the plane with Jean Luc. It was only a day after Logan had called and already work was in progress to fix the porch. It pissed Logan off that the X members would be so callous as to be worried about the fucking porch when one of their team was dead. Inside he was cold.
And he let that coldness show towards all but Ororo, Hank, Bobby, Kurt, Mattie and Jean Luc. They were the only ones that truly mourned the loss of Remy LeBeau.
When they got there, Mattie left Jean Luc's side. She went up to Remy's room and touched his stuff, closing her eyes and smiling as she smelled him. Felt his energy. She would have to go about working a spell quickly. She knew that Remy wouldn't be able to last to much longer in his corporial state.
It took her a half hour to find the items that she needed to work the spell, having the crystal that she needed on her. It took her about another hour to complete the spell. When it was over, she was panting and sweating, feeling weak from the energy being drained from her. Sitting on the bed, she sighed and smiled weakly.
"I gotcha chile. Tante Mattie's gotcha," she whispered as she patted the crystal around her neck. As she stroked it, it shined brightly and seemed to sing. Smiling at it, she chuckled. "Oui cher...Tante knows. An' you know dat it's da only way ta save you. I'll give you to Logan tonight. You'll get a new body in no time," she said softly before getting up and going downstairs slowly.
