Sloth
The note stuffed in the locker vent. Such a classic high school move. Kurt picked the folded piece of notebook paper out of the slots, glancing around cautiously before unfolding it. It had been fifteen minutes since classes had let out, and he had the hallway mostly to himself. He suspected he didn’t need anyone reading this over his shoulder; the dirty thumbprint of the folded square was as good as a signature, as far as he was concerned.
Todd’s printing was memorable and blocky, the pencil smudged.
ALLEY BEHIND BOWLORAMA
1AM TONIGHT
ITS IMPORTANT
It would be. He glanced over it again, rereading a message short enough he already had it memorized. It was important. And he knew why.
“Kurt!”
The voice was cheerful, bright, undeniably female. Kurt turned. Amanda was marching down the hall to him, grinning with her binder clutched to her chest. Kurt smiled back, reflexively crumpling the note in his fist. He dropped it into the junk in his locker and closed the door.
Amanda, chattering brightly, took his elbow, and they walked together.
