Crashing back to Earth
It’s a baby chapter, I know. But I do have much more in the way. The smut is coming, I swear! Darn plot getting in the way. ^.^;;
We got back just in time to make it to the danger room practice. Hah, looks like Remy was wrong. However, Ah could see the pain and jealousy on poor Logan’s face that it chilled me to the bone. As much as Ah need this chance, Ah don’t know if it would be worth hurting the one man I really care for. Decisions, Decisions. Maybe Ah should talk to him… Then again… Maybe Ah shouldn’t talk to him. Gawd, this is so stupid! Ah start to gnaw on mah bottom lip. Interrupting Logan droning on about defense stances, Ah command, “Logan, We need to talk.”
He raises an eyebrow, surprised Ah would interrupt him. Ah don’t give him a chance to talk, “Now.”
Turning and walking into the command center, Ah pace the floor untilenteenters the room. The moment he closes the doors Ah quit pacing and ask everything Ah have been curious about since this morning, hell even earlier than that. Ah’m not blind, Ah haven ten the way he looks at me. “Logan…” Uh… oh… Why did everything Ah just wanted to say pop right out of my head?? Ah, Ah’m like a deer in headlights!
“Look Stripes, couldn’t it have waited until the end of the session? What do you want?”
Ah bite my lip and try to form all those stray thoughts nagging at me. Its hard when you have a head full of other people chatting. “Logan, Ah just wanna know why you decided to tell me earlier? Ah don’t understand. Ah need to know. Why?”
He runs his hands through his hair before looking straight at me. “Look, Stripes, I’m just an old man who said some things that were way out of line. That’s not my place to say those things. I cant let myself say those things to you. This place… here all I can be is your teacher and all you can be is my student. I don’t want you to think about it again. What I do want to know is why on Earth you did something as stupid as try to kiss me?”
Ah avert my gaze, feeling embarrassed, “You seemed so lonely, Ah wanted you to know Ah care. Besides,” Ah add half jokingly, “Its something Ah always wanted to do.”
He laughs and scratches the back of his neck, “Look darlin’, I need you to promise me something.” He stops and looks at me solemnly, “Try to forget what happened. I was weak in even mentioning anything to you. Even if you try, nothing will ever happen. I won’t let it. You understand?”
Ah guess mah deer in headlights look must’ve amused him by the way he laughed, “Look, I have a class to teach to try to whip these kids into shape. You done?”
Ah give the question some thought before nodding, “Yeah, Ah guess so.”
Logan pulls one of his more feral grins, “Ok kid, lets get back out there.”
Ah could tell Logan was trying to make things easier on me as we headed back into the danger room. Ah’m not gonna let him off the hook that easy. He started something Ah am not ready to let die. Right now though, Ah need to really think things through
