Chapter 5

"Did you see who was coming into the room?" She asked when she'd finally caught her breath.
"Nein." He replied, "Your hour wasn't up yet so it was probably someone looking for you." She nodded and turned away from him. He couldn't read her mood. She looked dazed, and she was trembling. But he wasn't sur if it was from physical exhaustion or emotional turmoil.
"I-I should get my stuff before someone complains about the punching bags I left all over the place." She took the t-shirt from his hands and slipped it over her head. Her eyes held a slightly glazed look.
"We need to talk, Katzchen." Kurt said, reaching out to her. She nodded but winced when he touched one of her bruised shoulders.
"I'll come by tonight, Fuzzy." She said quietly. She picked up her shorts and slid them on. Then she phased through the door and headed back down to the Danger room. She tried to retain some semblance of normal movement as she walked down the hallway. Her shoulder still bled a little, and the spots stained the shirt in several places. She could make something up about hurting herself while exercising. She would need to keep it covered till it healed. Someone might recognize the wounds as fang marks and there was currently only one student who could have put them there.
Kurt rested his head against the door Kitty had just walked through. He'd probably ruined everything. He hadn't been himself. He didn't jump women like a savage. While she'd apparently enjoyed herself in the heat of the moment, she might well come to her senses.

Logan stood in the danger room. He'd gone looking for Kitty, but when he'd entered, there was a surprising sight that met his eyes. The place was cluttered with practice mats and punching bags. It wasn't like his little half-pint to leave things like this. He looked at his watch. It was still her scheduled time to be here, and he'd thought it would be occupied when the doors opened, but no one was here now.
A familiar scent wafted through the air, and Logan's sensitive nose picked it up. Blood. He walked over to the mats and noticed what he'd originally thought to be a discarded towel. When he neared it, he saw that it was clothing. Torn clothing. A t-shirt and bra were lying in a heap on the floor and they were stained with blood. There were signs of a good tussle, but there was no scent trail leading out of the room. Kitty's scent was here. It was heavy with sweat. Someone else had been here. He recognized the distinctive tang of sulphur that clung to Kurt's fur, but surely the little blue elf wouldn't hurt Kitty. Surely not. Logan's nose twitched as the evidence in front of him told a different story; he ran out of the danger room and back toward the girl's dormitory. He'd start his search there.
Kitty returned to the danger room and began to clean it up slowly. Her muscles ached and protested any more movement. She craved a hot bath but she forced herself to re-stack the mats for the next person to use and hung up the fallen punching bag. Once everything was back the way it had been, she turned to leave. She couldn't shake the feeling that she was forgetting something. Had she left something here?
"My sanity." She said out loud. And headed to the girl's bathroom. She didn't want to wait for one of the tubs to fill so a shower would have to do.

Kurt was coming out of the men's showers dressed in a pair of cargo pants and a t-shirt when the sight of Wolverine standing in the doorway stopped him.
"Mr. Logan?" The steam in the room made it difficult to make out the man's exprssion, but he had a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. He noticed something in the larger man's hand. It was the bloody, shredded t-shirt that he's torn from Kitty's body. The bigger man's tension was like a cloud around him. He was silent and still. He just stared at Kurt for a full minute before he spoke
"I'll just ask you once, kid." He growled, holding up the shirt. "You do this?" The man was trembling with repressed rage. Kurt didn't know if he'd spoken to Kitty or not. He guessed that he had and she was upset. He couldn't blame her. Despite her actions, he'd been an animal in the danger room.
"Yes." He said and heard the soft *Snikt* of claws extending; it was the last sound heard by more than a few people. And these people hadn't even touched Kitty Pryde.
