A/N Goddess Foxfeather, Queen of Mad Plotbunnies, BUSIEST WOMAN ALIVE ™, Prophetic Muse, Hamster Witch and Uberbeta… what’s that place? The one where the planes go WHOOSH? ;) InterNutter, TC, Maxwell Pink and Dracena… *GLOMP * ProPhile: *poke * Morgan: So… how you doin’? Readers/Reviewers: Yes, I know the AFFN chapters are wonky but I’m working on fixing it as soon as the site likes me again. And coming up towards the end of the story, there’s going to be a few chapters of pretty much gratuitous smut wrapped around some plot points. Be ye warned.

“These,” Magneto sd ald almost lovingly at the screen, “are Sentinels1.”
Wanda felt a surge of nausea. “So you built some huge fucking robots? Nice. Real Ed Wood2 of you.” She jerked her chin towards Pietro. “So you’re gonna pass it on to Goldilocks then? This penchant for theatrics?”
Magneto’s smile twisted into something more sinister. “You are an insolent whelp!” He looked as if wanted to strike her but was barely controlling himself. “Tarot, take her to the other room. Get her ready.”
Wanda did not have time to react before two small but surprisingly strong hands gripped her arms. “Come on then,” the red head purred. “We don’t want you to be late for your coming out party.”
The taller of the two young women felt a tug at her powers and frowned. She was not as strong as she could be and she could feel the abilities ebb, trying to save energy. “Let go of my arm,” she advised with a snarl on her features.
“Why?” Tarot challenged, already forcing her towards a door in the back of the chamber. “Are you going to be a bad witch?”3
“You don’t know the half of it.” Wanda went limp all of a sudden, dropping to the ground and causing Tarot to not only lose her grip but to stumble as well. As the red head staggered, Wanda swept her leg across and knocked Tarot’s feet out from underneath her, making her fall face-first onto the hard metal floor. Magneto nodded to Pietro, who moved in a blur and grabbed Wanda before Tarot could even stand. “Let go of me, Pie-pie,” she snarled to her brother. Her powers were waning from exertion—she had not been able to stave off his speed. She twisted free of his grasp, skipping backwards, just out of his reach. “You’re so eager for his fucking approval that you don’t even see what’s happening right in front of your face!”
“Why’d you come here?” he taunted, stepping between her and Tarot, though even he was not quite sure whether it was for his sister’s protection or for his lover’s. “Come all the way from nice and comfy Bayville just to say hi? Don’t fucking think so!”
Magneto clicked his tongue and smiled slightly. “Now, now Pietro. Language.”
Pietro shrugged and advanced slightly, but Wanda stood her ground. She fisted her hands by her side and jerked her chin, making a fast decision. If she did things just right, did them quickly and never looked back, she would get out of this in one piece, she knew. “I wanted to see if the X Geeks were really onto something. Figured I’d better know both sides of it before I made my choice…”
“Wanda,” her father said gently, but with an edge of steel in his voice, “you’ve made the right choice by coming here. You’ve known inside for years… All that you’ve been through, the choices you made that took you away from us, from the Brotherhood… it’s brought you back here, where you belong.”
Pietro’s head snapped to look at his father in startlement, as did Tarot’s. Wanda had been a persona non grata in Magneto’s presence for so long that they had begun to wonder if he had forgotten her either on purpose or as a result of his burgeoning illness. Wanda sneered. “Right. Abandoning me when I was five years old was just your way of saying I love you, stay with me. Good call, Dad.” The malice in the last word was clear to everyone in the room, even Fred, who had been an immovable wall of flesh in the far corner ever since Wanda had arrived. She did not change expression as she released her hold on their powers. She could tell that they felt it—their eyes widened at the slight rush of energy that they had not realized that they were lacking. She did not give them time to use it, though. She gathered her own reserves, the shreds of what was left, the tiny bits and pieces floating in the well of exhaustion that was her body. She was not sure of lat later development of her powers, something she had discovered on accident while with Tabby some months before. She willed it to happen, pictured it in her mind and let the image flow out of her, creating a brief reality using what they had come to term her hexing abilities.4 Wanda had settled on Tarot’s flame red hair, the burning bright color stark against the brushed silver of the walls and floor and the glimmering images on the screens which she was studiously ignoring. Wanda smiled sharply as her hex came to be—Tarot’s hair began to burn.
Pietro followed the direction of his sister’s gaze and started. “Tarot!” he leapt at her, tackling her to the ground to pat out the nascent flames. It was enough time for Wanda to move.
She bolted for the door, trying her powers on the lock which did not respond. She spun tce tce the room and found herself face to face with Fred. “How the fuck did you move so fast?” she panted, making to move around him.
He held out a meaty hand and stopped her in her tracks, his face red and breath coming in short bursts. “Can. If. I hafta…” He nodded. “I’ll get it.” He raised his other fist and slammed it into the door, making it buckle. Tarot and Pietro shouted behind him and Magneto barked and order to Mesmero. “Wanda?”
She nodded and closed her eyes. She felt her body protest as she exerted her binding powers yet again. Fred nodded in turn and repeated his early action, this time knocking the door from it’s hinges. Wanda’s eyes flew open and a smile flitted across her face. “You’re alright, you know that?” she called as she squirmed through the narrow opening.
“Yeah… I’m tellin’ ‘em you hexed me.”

1 Okay, more AU ness… I’m fudging the history of the Sentinels a bit here. But since they weren’t really fleshed out in Evo verse… deal with it.
2 Ed Wood, arguably the worst director of all time. Famous for movies like “Plan Nine from Outer Space” which are so *bad * that you just have to stare and appreciate the sheer cojones it took to put it out there for people to see. He’s known for his sci fi movies. Hence the reference, lol.
3 I had a Wizard of Oz moment—“Are you a good witch, or a bad witch?” – sorry, lol.
4 Not exactly how she does it but in the Foreververse, she uses her hexing abilities like that so… yeah.
