Chapter 4

Disclaimer: I do not own the X-Men or any of their characters. Soon, I will add
an OCer who will be mine...but that moment isn't just yet. *smirks*

Warning: Character Death and a raging Feral. Get ready for it!

The last thing Logan remembered was the portion of the building they'd been standing under had collapsed on top of them and Remy's scream.

The attack had caught them off-guard and there were more then a few injured X-Men lying scattered around the expansive yard. Logan pushed through the rubble and pulled a very battered Remy from it. Remy wasn't moving and blood was pooling around them.

Remy's eyes opened slowly as he was pulled out, groaning and whimpering softly letting out a gurgling cough as blood spilled out of his mouth. Some of the rubble had struck him hard in the abdomen area as his head struck the concrete.

Logan hadn't been able to cover him as much as he'd hoped. And that made him panic a bit, but he calmed enough to help calm the boy and carry him to the hangar, since the entrance of the building had been destroyed.

Hank was busy helping the wounded but when he saw Remy, he rushed over to the hangar and went into the medlab.

"What happened Logan?" he asked him as Logan gently lay a whimpering Remy onto a bed, his eyes screwed shut at the sharp pains. Even taking shallow breaths was causing him pain.

"We were on the porch when somethin' blew it up. Dunno what...just heard a whistlin' and then the explosion...then felt the darkness. Next thing I know..." he said, pointing wordlessly to his lover, thankful that his voice wasn't shaking. He felt as if his nerves were shot.

"Alright. Go Logan...I will take care of Remy...go help the others," he said before rushing the feral out of the room.

Logan ran back outside and helped the rest of the team, going back down to the medlab when everyone had been situated. Remy was still in surgery. Another half hour later, he heard the steady monotone of the monitor.

His gut clenched. "No," he whispered softly, his throat closing around him. "No...no, no, no, no, no." Rushing into the medlab, he gritted his teeth. "Tell me he ain't dead Blue. Tell me that Remy ain't dead!" he yelled, his voice sounding harsh as he swallowed past the lump in his throat, fighting to keep the tears from running down his face.

Hank had just sewed him up 5 minutes before Remy flat-lined. He was still working on him, trying to give him CPR as he tried not to cry himself.

"Still trying to save him Logan...don...don't count him out just yet," he whispered as he continued pushing his palms against his heart. He'd managed to repair the damage to Remy's stomach and liver, and he had thought he'd worked on Remy's diaphram just enough to let it heal naturally...until this happened.

Logan took Remy's hand and closed his eyes, kissing it as a tear ran down his face."Remy, darlin'...come on kid...don't leave me," he whispered as he used his other
his other hand to gently stroke the cool, pale face, tube in his mouth where the
ventilator had been put in.

Hank tried for another 15 minutes before sagging to his knees and weeping. "I'm sorry Logan...he's...he's gone. There's nothing more I can do," he said as he removed his glasses, tears matting the fur on his face.

Logan took a deep breath and shook his head, shaking at the grief he held inside. "No!" he yelled, letting out a yell as he released Remy's hand, his claws extending.

Unable to stand the sight of the dead Remy, he ran off, breaking open the glass doors, not caring that it shattered and showered all over him, cutting into his skin.

He ran. He didn't know where he was, or where he was going. He just...ran. Ran away from all thought and the memory that would haunt him forever.

(sorry, but I've gotta cut this short for tonight. TBC)
