The Great Escape Part 2
Disclaimer, once again...and don't forget those comments people!
Kurt rocked her until her sniffles subsided and her breathing slowly evened out in sleep. He then gently shifted her until she was lying across his arms, but he was unable to pry her tiny hand off his fingers, so he maneuvered her until he had her arm looped across her waist, and rose nimbly to his feet. Scott had gone on ahead to pull the car around to the front entrance, and Logan had dragged the three unconscious bodies of Kitty’s attackers into the nearest restroom.
Kurt shifted her slightly so he could see his watch. He was supposed to wait ten minutes—to give Scott time to get to the front—and then teleport out. It had only been a few minutes, however the sound of the janitor making his rounds was getting nearer and nearer. Nervously he peeked around the corner just in time to see the man go into the restroom where they’d hidden the bodies. No time now. He concentrated for a moment, then ‘bamfed’ to a secluded area outside.
Scott had not yet made it, so Kurt hunkered down in the shadows and foliage to wait. It amazed him that he was so calm now. When that arschloss hurt Katzchen all he’d seen was red. He vaguely remembered Logan pulling him off the unconscious guy. He had then lashed out at Logan, furious that he could not reach the body on the floor and rip it apart limb from limb. Logan had simply smacked him across the face and told him to take care of Kitty while he cleaned the mess up. The sight of her crumpled form had erased everything in his mind except to see to her well-being. Scott had grabbed up her bag before he took off, casting one last worried look over his shoulder as he sprinted away.
Kurt’s hands had shook so forcefully as he looked down at her. He lowered himself to the floor next to her and willed himself to calm before gathering her up. She’d looked so fragile as he held her and he couldn’t resist smoothing the strands of auburn hair away from her pixie-like face. Logan had told him to try and wake her up, but Kurt doubted he’d be able to judging by the swollen area on the back of her head. Nevertheless, he tapped her cheeks lightly.
He had frozen when her eyes opened, but they had a glazed-over look and quickly closed again. Not knowing what to do he’d simply held her, and he nearly wept when she finally stirred again. Her hand rose shakily to his shoulder, and he squirmed as she snuggled against his neck. She inched her hand down over his arm until he realized what she wanted. Her tiny had was engulfed by his own warm one.
Kurt focused on the present as the red sports car pulled up. He checked to make sure no one was around, then quickly made his way over as his friend leaped out and opened the back door for him. He was just settling himself and Kitty in when he glanced up and did a double take. Suddenly he wished he had a camera so he might share this image with Kitty when she was away and well.
Logan, possibly the most intimidating man on the planet, was bringing Kitty’s three dainty suitcases out. One had a foldout handle and wheels, and it squeaked loudly as he pulled it behind him. One was slung over his back, and the other tucked under his arm. The few people that were around gave him odd looks, but feared to even smirk. The scowl on the man’s face could’ve peeled paint.
Scott had the trunk open when he got there with the cases, and after everything was secured, he sped off in the direction of the highway. It was already well after five o’clock, and they had a six hour drive ahead of them. But Kurt, with Kitty lying comfortably against him, wasn’t really dreading it as much as the other two men.
