What the hell is THAT?!"

"Calm down Matthew. This will merely give us a better understanding of your physical structure." Hank said

"It looks like a fucking coffin Hank!"

Hank had taken Matthew to a special wing of the lower levels of the Institute. Hank told Matthew that no one was allowed here unless they had permission by the Professor. They walked into the room and a large machine was in the center with computer monitors all around it and lining the walls as well. The machine was large white in color and had a table that Matthew figured was for him to lay on and be brought into the machine.

"I may be more lenient than Ororo concerning use of certain language but I ask that you please refrain from using that word." Hank said after Matthew dropped the F-bomb for the fourth time since being brought to this part of the institute

"Sorry....Anyway what does this thing do?" Matthew asked while walking around the room

"Proper terms or laymen's terms?" Hank asked walking up beside Matthew

"What do you think Doc?" Matthew asked raising a brow

Hank laughed

"Well, to put it in it's simplest terms. This machine will scan a full 3-d image of your body. Did you understand that?" Hank asked raising his brow

"Yeah but if you guys got something so fancy why didn't you just throw me in the dang thing in the first place? " Matthew asked walking up to the machine

"Well, I don't like to use it. It gives off a rather large dose of radiation. While not fatal it does cause the subject to be extremely ill. But I feel that you will be just fine with your regenerative abilities as they are now. Logan is the only other living subject we have used it on," Hank said while flipping a few switching and typing at an extremely fast pace on a keyboard on the machine.

"Maybe I shouldn't have asked...." Matthew said with a sigh

"As I said you will be fine. You may experience some nausea and dizziness but that should only be temporary. Now please remove your clothes and lay on the table with your head facing the machine." Hank said walking away from the keyboard and over to a small monitoring room next to the doorway

"WHAT?! I ain't getting naked infront of you!" Matthew said looking very nervous

"Matthew please I am a doctor. There is nothing to be ashamed of. If it makes you feel better I will look away until you are in the scanner. Is that better?" Hank said through the mic in the monitoring room

"Fine whatever. But you look and I am out of here." Matthew said throwing off his clothes

"Are you ready?" Hank asked

"Yeah sure turn me into a glowstick already." Matthew said as he lay on the table

Hank laughed then turned on the machine. The table Matthew was on jerked then slid into the machine slowly. Then the opening closed.

"Now Matthew please try to stay as still as possible and keep your eyes closed. You can breathe but keep your breathing as shallow as possible. Do you understand?" Hank said through the mic as the opening on the machine closed

"Yes, Just get this over with ..... How long will this take anyway?" Matthew said into what he guessed was a microphone

"It should take between ten and thirty minutes. I realize that may seem long but you can take this opportunity to maybe get in a small nap. Logan himself mediated while going through this procedure. Now I am going to start the procedure. Remember do not move or open your eyes until I say it is safe." Hank said

Matthew closed his eyes as he heard a loud electric hum. He could see the lights move over his face many time during the next thirty minute. He felt the dizziness and nausea set in after the first five. He tried to keep his mind off of it the best he could. He let his thoughts fall on the one thing that always helped him. Rogue. He sometimes worried if his feeling for her were bordering on an obsession. He tried to remember what he learned on the other side. He knew he was told something about himself and Rogue's future and the reason he was being allowed to return. However it seemed the more he tried to remember about the event the more he forgot. He thought of that look in her eyes when she saw him on the blackbird. She was the happiest and saddest he had ever seen a person in his life at that moment. He thought of how she held onto him. How they held each other and cried their eyes out on each others' shoulder. He was surprised he was not angry with her when she told him she tried to talk Remy into having sex with her. Maybe it was because she said she didn't want to with him. He was even more surprised at how different this Gambit was from the one he had grew up reading about. That one seemed to truly love Rogue. But this one...this whole world had some very distinct differences. He was still taken back by how quickly Rogue opened up to him and showed her true personality. He thought it would at least take a few months before she even let him in her room. But just two weeks after he came to this world she told him she loved him. He still wasn't sure if she really did love him when she first said it but after what they had been through what she had allowed him to do and say he was certain that now she did love him. He was even more shocked at how fast he feel for her. He wondered if somehow he had feel in love with the Rogue of the show and just didn't know until he met her for real. No, that would be nothing short of extremely disturbing.

While he was deep in thought he didn't even notice that the hum had stopped and that the chamber had fallen dark. He felt a burst of cold air and realized he was outside the machine. He sat up and looked around.

"Is it over?" Matthew asked looking around the room

"Yes it is over." Hank said through the mic while not looking up at Matthew like he promised

"Good hurry and bring me something before I puke all over this nice expensive machinery." Matthew said before letting out a rather gross burp before slipping off the table and putting on his boxers

"Yes, of course." Hank said walking out of the monitoring room and pulling something out of his lab coat

"Is that a shot?" Matthew asked looking nervous

"It is either this or take a pill that may not take effect in time." Hank said taking out and alcohol swab

"Now please turn around and pull your undergarment down a little. (1) " Hank said looking very serious

"Uh.........you mean you have to .....dammit just get it over with Only thing I hate more than needles is puking my guts out." Matthew said turning around and pulling the side of his boxers down a little. He felt a very sharp burning pain and growled loudly

"Quite a growl you have there. I am guessing you are the one who scared Jubilee half to death the other day." Hank said while giving Matthew the shot then removing the needle

"Yeah sorry I was just testing the waters. I didn't even realize I was doing it till Marie brought it up. I was just going around doing it on instinct. I am starting to really like doing it though. Does wonders in arguments." Matthew said

"I have been meaning to ask you. Did you give her the birth control pills?" Hank asked when Matthew walked over to the rest of his clothes and started to put them on

"Yes, I gave them to her. No, we haven't had sex yet. We are waiting for the right time." Matthew said putting on his clothes

"I see. Please make sure that when you do consummate your relationship that she has taken the pill and that you use a condom. We do not know what kind of effects her abilities would have on her or a fetus if she were to become pregnant." Hank said looking very serious

"Nothing bad will happen Hank. Do you really think her body would not allow her to have children? I watch those science shows and from what I know that's the number one drive. Live and make babies. Besides I know at least one version of Marie that has had a child. There were not a lot of problems till it came time to deliver. But I am sure if I just hold her hand and cancel out her powers that that won't be a problem either."

"You sound as if you want to have a child with her already. You do realize you two are only teenagers and aren't ready for such a responsibility." Hank said walking over to Matthew and grabbing his arm

"It's not just me Hank. I know she at least has thought about it. If she says she wants a child right now I am not going to say no to her. Now take your hand off me before I remove it myself." Matthew said looking very serious

"You are without a doubt the strangest teenager I have ever known. And I have known many don't forget I was a school teacher after all." Hank said letting go of Matthew's arm

"Strange how? You know it's not as weird as you may think for someone my age to be thinking about being a parent. After all my parents were already married at my age and pregnant with my sister." Matthew said sitting in a chair in front of a large monitor

"They were?" Hank asked sounding surprised

"Yeah. They got married in 1979 right out of highschool and got pregnant with my sister around the same time they were married. They did pretty damn good raising her and me being so young. So It doesn't have to do with age Hank it has to do with love maturity and commitment. It's also not like we have a real big social life right now anyway so if Marie and me slip up and end up with a kid the most we will have to do is leave the team to raise it." Matthew said leaning back in the chair and propping his feet up on the computer desk

"But still you both are so young. Are you absolutely sure she is ready for something like this?" Hank asked

"Yes, we have already talked about it. I am not going to tell you what we talked about exactly but I know she doesn't care either way as long as I stay with her. Which no way in hell would I leave her if that happened. But It's not like I am going to get her pregnant anytime soon. So we really don't have to worry about all this right now. But if it happens it happens and I am sure Marie will be able to handle it just as well as I know I will be able to." Matthew said

Hank was about to answer when a red light above them turned on and a bell rang.

"Is that an attack alarm?!" Matthew asked jumping out of his chair any nearly going half way across the room before he landed

"No, The information has been formatted into a 3-d image. Come with me and lets see if we can't find out how you tick. After we have had a look over the information I wish to test how you are able to block Mutant abilities through touch." Hank said walking over to a monitor at least three times larger than the others in the room

" You can look this over yourself I don't think I will understand anything this thing shows. I'll just go sit back down and let you take a gander at it." Matthew said sitting back down in his chair

"Very well.......Oh my stars and garters how interesting!" Hank said as an Image came up on the screen

"What?" Matthew asked turning to Hank in the chair

"How incredible. Your optical nerves are three times larger than normal it also appears your retinas have more light receptors than any known animal or mutant I am aware of. Your musculature and skeletal structure is at least five times as dense as a normal human or mutants as well." Hank said looking over the image and the information beside it

"That's nice but what about my strength and the whole touching thing?" Matthew said getting out of his chair and walking over to Hank

"I was getting to that. There does not seem to be any physical structures throughout your body that would explain your ability to disable mutant abilities. Perhaps the power lies within your mind. The Professor tells me he is no longer able to hear your thoughts or send you his thoughts. Jean tells me the same thing so I am taking an educated guess in assuming your ability is psionic in nature. As for your strength your musculature does gift you with heightened strength but nothing on the level you demonstrated earlier. Perhaps it too was a mixture of physical prowess as well as psychic prowess. Mind over matter as it were." Hank said turning to Look to Matthew

"Alrighty then. Any idea on how to control my strength?" Matthew asked

"I am afraid you will have to figure that out on your own." Hank said looking back to the screen

"Crap.....So now what? Go back to my room and wait till you are finished to move on to the next part of the test or wait around here and watch you drool over that screen?" Matthew asked with a smirk

Hank himself let out a slight chuckle

"You may return to your room. I will send for you and Rogue when I am ready to continue." Hank said still looking over the information

"Why do you need to see both of us?" Matthew asked

"Your ability to block mutant powers first manifested when you touched her and only seemed to work with her until your resurrection. I wish to test how you powers work with the person they originally manifested themselves for." Hank said looking away from the screen only long enough to answer before turning back

"Oooohhhh Ok then. Welp see you later Hank." Matthew said walking out of the room


"Yo what you still here for babycakes?"

"Please stop calling me pet names Todd." Wanda said walking into Todd's hospital room and sitting in her chair

"Sorry. Can't help it old habit. Really though why you still here? You should have left hours ago ya know." Todd asked

"I didn't feel like leaving." Wanda said with a shrug

"Oh you just can't get enough of me and you know it dol...Wanda." Todd said smiling

"Yeah you are probably right......Did you brush your teeth?" Wanda asked when she noticed Todd's teeth were not green anymore

"Yeah....I brushed the hell out of them this morning while you were in the waiting room." Todd said still smiling

"At least your teeth aren't as green as they normally are." Wanda said smiling herself

"I know so wanna French? " Todd asked raising his brows

"Are you serious? I don't know Todd can you keep from getting any slime in my mouth?" Wanda asked looking very serious

"Dunno never frenched before....then again I never kissed anyone but you so lets give it a go! " Todd said puckering up and holding out his arms

Wanda rolled her eyes . Took in a deep sigh and leaned in to kiss Todd. She opened her mouth and the next thing she knew his tongue was in her mouth and halfway down her throat. She gagged and pulled away out of reflex.

"MY BAD ! " Todd said looking embarrassed

Wanda was coughing and her face turned red.

"Damn it Todd you nearly choked me to death be careful with that fucking tongue of yours! " Wanda said still coughing

"I'm sorry I just got excited! I didn't slime you any did I?" Todd said still looking embarrassed

"No.......I think we should hold off on frenching until you can control yourself though." Wanda said after she was finally able to stop coughing

"Look just give it one more go OK? I promise I wont do that again." Todd said taking her hand

Wanda sighed and shook her head

"OK one more time but if you fuck up this time that's it. " Wanda said

"I promise I won't. I just got excited Wanda." Todd said now looking very serious

Wanda leaned in and kissed Todd. They opened their mouths and their tongues mingled. Todd then did something he had wanted to do since their first kiss. He put one of his hands on Wanda rear and squeezed. Wanda's eyes shot open and she pulled away and raised her hand to slap him then seemed to try and calm herself.

"What the fuck was that?! " Wanda asked looking angry

"I dunno I just wanted to see if you liked it ... Did you like it? " Todd said blushing

"That's not the point Todd. I said I would be your girlfriend I didn't say you could feel all over my ass...That doesn't happen until I say so got it?" Wanda said still looking a little angry

"OK I got it.. Did you like it though? " Todd asked

"Yes, I liked it but you will not do it again until I say so." Wanda said crossing her arms

Todd frowned

"OK I'm sorry." Todd said still frowning

"Stop looking sad. I didn't slap you this time now did I? " Wanda said with a faint smile

"No you didn't. " Todd said no longer frowning

"That's right I didn't. I am not going to slap you anymore Todd. Just please warn me before you do something like that again or at least ask me if it is OK." Wanda said taking his Hand and now smiling in full force. Something that still freaked the hell out of Todd

"Or unless you ask me right? " Todd asked rubbing his thumb over her hand

"Right unless I ask you myself. By the way I did like the French kiss." Wanda said

"That's cool. Wanna do it from now on? " Todd asked

"Sure. Just keep your hands off my ass. " Wanda said still smiling


"Um why the hell do I have to wear this thing again?"

Rogue asked with a strange clothe contraption on her head with all sorts of wires and sensors on it. She was sitting in a hospital gown with only her panties on with wires and other devices hooked up all over her body. Matthew was in the same predicament. Only he was just wearing his boxers. The Professor and Hank were sitting in front of them. All the wires were hooked up to monitors and printers.

"These devices will allow us to see what exactly happens when the both of you are engaged in physical contact. Now Matthew please take Rogue's hand when I give you the signal."

Hank said walking over to the row of computers and other devices and turning on each one. When everything was on Hank nodded at Matthew. He reached out and took Rogue's hand. The machines started to beep and make other noises.

"Incredible. Charles come look at this!" Hank said looking at one read out as if it was a holy relic

The Professor moved his chair over to the monitor and a look of pure amazement crossed his face.

"Incredible indeed." The Professor said looking at the monitor then to the couple behind him

"What Is it?" Rogue asked looking at the two men

Hank turned around and started to talk when the machines began to beep loudly while others began to smoke and throw out sparks

"Let go of her hand Matthew ! " The Professor said

Matthew let go of Rogue's hand and ripped off all the wires connected to him as did Rogue.

"What the hell was that?! " Rogue asked looking a little freaked out

"To put it in the simplest terms Matthew's brain waves just shorted out all our equipment." Hank said looking disappointed

"Sorry...." Matthew said lowering his head

"No need to be sorry at all. We did not lose any of the information gathered. We just lost some equipment. Which I can easily replace." The Professor said moving his chair over to the two teenagers

"Yes, now you two may put your clothes back on and return to your room." Hank said

"OK then. Come Marie lets go." Matthew said picking up Rogue's clothes and his own

The couple left the room leaving the two men alone in the room.

"What just happened? " Hank asked

"To be honest with you I am not sure myself. For the moment however let us review what we do know."

The Professor said moving his chair over to a computer in the corner. He turned it on and the information gathered from the experiment came on the screen.

" I see I was right in assuming Rogue's split personalties have returned." Hank said looking over the information

"Yes, it appears that whatever effect my efforts had was only temporary." The Professor said

The screen showed Rogue's brain waves. Which had many distinctly different waves overlapping her own.

"The strange thing is when he touches her they seem to vanish. His abilities must be extremely powerful for him to be able to detain them even when you were not. That also explains how he was able to block both you and Jean from reading his mind." Hank said pulling up a chair and sitting beside the Professor

"I agree. The real question however is will we be able to find a way for him to control this ability of his. At the moment he seems to be using his power on a subconscious level. I am hopeful however he will be able to control it consciously. Unfortunately that will be extremely difficult since I will not be able to help him as I have with the others." The Professor said looking over the information

" I have confidence in him Charles. He has managed to take control of his strength with only a few minor slips. I feel it will only be a matter of time when he learns to control this ability as well. He only needs the proper motivation." Hank said now Looking at Xavier

" He already has enough motivation. I learned that he had a very interesting conversation with Rogue yesterday. He is determined to control his ability for her sake if nothing else. If he is able to do so he may be able to help her where we have failed. It is obvious that on a subconscious level he is somehow able to sense what parts of a mutant's anatomy to shut down or detain to cancel out their abilites. If only I was able to enter his mind now I would be able to find out exactly how he has done this with her. If we knew that we would be able to teach her to control her powers." The Professor said

The two men sat and talked over the information for the next two hours.While Matthew found himself Alone in the rec room with Carla as Rogue had left to go to the mall with Kitty.He tried to talk her into letting him go with them but to his surprise Rogue told him to stay and try to talk to Carla before she left tomorrow. SO there he sat not saying anything to her for over ten minutes until she finaly spoke.

"Can I ask you something?" Carla asked looking at Matthew

"Sure Car-car what is it?" Matthew said then made a strange expression when he realized what he had just called her

Carla smiled brightly

"You know you used to call me that all the time when we were little." She said smiling

"Really? I was a little afraid you might not remember. I haven't called you that since I was six. " Matthew said with a nervous smile

"How could I forget something like that? But I really want to ask you something. When was the last time you saw her...your Carla I mean." Carla asked

"She had to come stay with us while her parents went out of town for their anniversary....." Matthew said looking slightly sad

"Why are you looking at me like that? " Carla asked

"Just thinking that's all. " Matthew said sounding slightly depressed now

"You really liked me..her didn't you? " Carla asked

"Of course I did. She was a very special to me. I still remember the last time I saw her as if it was just yesterday. My sister had one of her friends over so she had to sleep in my room with me. I just laid there and talked to her the whole night till she fell asleep. I know we were only kids then but I think I loved her..No I know I did. I just laid there and watched her sleep till I fell asleep. When I woke up the next morning her parents had already come to pick her up. I had thought I was over it until...." Matthew said stopping himself and looking to be thinking about something

"Until what?" Carla asked moving a little closer to him on the couch

"I dunno I just had a dream about her a few months after I got to New York. It kind of sparked my interest in her again. So I called one of my friends back home to see if they could find her. They called back a week later and told me......well you know." Matthew said holding his hand over his stomach

"Yeah I know....But why did you wait so long? " Carla asked moving a little closer again

"I don't know and I am still pissed at myself for it. I still don't know why the hell I even had that dream or bothered to call back home to find out about her. I hadn't even thought about her for years before then. I just know I got a nice kick in the nuts from reality when I did." Matthew said

"Do you really want to be friends with me? I am not sure I can be just friends with you because I still have strong feelings for you..him. "Carla asked moving a little more closer. She was now right beside him. She noticed he didn't seem as nervous as he was when she sat next to him while Rogue was around

"Like you said you lost him before. I know you have feelings for me that go beyond friendship but I don't really care... I don't mean for that to sound cruel or anything...I just don't want to lose the chance to have you back in my life. I know you aren't the exact same girl I used to know but you are still her and I really do want to be friends with you again. My life was shit before I came here. I lost everyone I ever cared about and I am not going to let that happen anymore. I do need you to understand though that I love Marie. I love her more than anything but I also care about you very much too. I am not in love you or anything I just care about you and I want you to be happy ......So will us being friends like we used to make you happy? OR do you want me to just leave you be after you leave here? " Matthew said looking sad and putting his hand on her's

Carla took in a deep breath and closed her eyes

"No, I don't want you to just walk away when I leave.....You know why I asked when the last time you saw her was?" Carla asked looking at him

"Not really...." Matthew said trying not to make eye contact

"I wanted to see if it was like the last time I saw you before we started middle school. We slept in your bed right?" Carla asked now with a smile

"Yeah. Mama told you to sleep in your sleeping bag on the floor but you said it made your back hurt so I let you sleep in my bed with me... You just wanted to sleep in my bed with me didn't you?" Matthew asked smiling now too

"OK you got me. That was around the time started to realize I had a crush on you and I wanted to sleep in your bed like that did on TV. Though I was a little disappointed when you slept facing away from me." Carla said

". Uhh.....well...." Matthew said blushing

"Oh my god you mean." Carla said covering her mouth and blushing

"Yeah it had started happening like a month before you came over to stay and I was afraid you would tell my mama if I..well you know." Matthew said looking embarrassed

"I hate to tell you Matt but your plan kind of didn't work to well....." Carla said blushing even more

Matthew's eyes shot wide open

"Oh my god I'm sorry! " Matthew said looking even more embaressed

Carla laughed

"You don't have to say you are sorry Matt. That was eight years ago for crying out loud. "Carla said laughing

"I know but still." Matthew said still looking embarrassed

"Like I said no reason to say you are sorry. Hell I already seen the thing in all its glory anyway........" Carla blushed beet red when she realized what she had just said

Matthew raised his brows in a look of pure shock when she said this

"Uhh.....I...." Matthew said at a lose for words

"I am sorry Matt...still trying to get used to you not being you." Carla said still blushing

"It's OK...we'll just forget you said that........and so will you Jubilee." Matthew said not even looking away from Carla

There was a loud gasp followed by what sounded like someone falling over. Jubilee came out from the hallway and walked over to Matthew.

"How the fuck did you know I was there?" Jubilee asked looking shocked

"I smelled your bubblegum. Now you are going to completely forget every thing you heard Carla and me talk about or I will tell Logan about your little secret." Matthew said looking very serious

Jubilee seemed to get very pale when Matthew threatened to tell Logan she was the one playing the pranks on him.

"OK dammit I won't tell I promise." Jubilee said

"You better keep that promise. If you don't I will tell Logan the first sign I get anyone else knows about this conversation got it? Now say you are sorry "Matthew asked

"OK I got it...Sorry Carla." Jubilee said looking to the girl

"I accept your apology." Carla said

"OK then I am going now. I think Evan should be back from the skate park by now." Jubilee said turning around and walking out of the room

Matthew waited a good five minutes and seemed to be listening and smelling the air for something.

"OK She is gone." Matthew said with a sigh

"Do you think she is really going to keep what she heard a secret? " Carla asked looking nervous

"Trust me no way in hell does she want Logan finding out what she is up to." Matthew said with a slight grin showing off one of his fangs in all it's glory

"Good.....I want to ask you something else. Is that OK?" Carla asked

"Carla you don't have to make sure something it is OK to ask before you do. Just ask me. I am not going to get pissed at you." Matthew said

"OK.........Have you and Rogue........well you know. Jubilee said that Scott said you two have but then she said that that big blue guy said you haven't." Carla said looking like she was slightly ashamed of herself for asking

"Shit I knew he was going to tell everyone about that.......No we haven't. That's all I am going to say. I don't exactly like talking about her or my sex life ....Don't take that wrong I'll tell you anything just please don't ask me about that OK?" Matthew said looking very serious

"OK I won't. He didn't like to talk about that part of our relationship either. He got into a big fight once when David asked if I was any good in bed." Carla said

"But David was like my best friend.....then again I would kick his ass if he did ask me something like that about Marie." Matthew said

"Yeah you two stopped talking for like a month after that....I didn't even know you two were still friends until after the wreck." Carla said looking slightly sad when she thought of the wreck

"Please don't start crying again. You do that and I have to make you feel better and someone might get the wrong idea around here OK?" Matthew said patting her on the knee

"No, I am not going to cry. I was just thinking about what David told me when I got back to school." Carla said taking in a deep breath

"What did he tell you?" Matthew asked

"Well, see he had gotten mugged on his way back home after football practice. He just found out he was a mutant and I will leave it at that. Anyway he ran over to your house you told him to keep it a secret but to not be ashamed of what he was. He told me because I was getting harassed pretty badly at school since someone had found out what you were. He kind of became my bodyguard after that till I dropped out." Carla said

"Did he tell you what kind of powers he had? " Matthew asked

"No, I asked him at least six times but he wouldn't tell me. He would just say" Don't worry what they are. Just know I am learning to use them for what Matthew said I should." Carla said

"He always liked to keep secrets. " Matthew said

"So what can you do besides shut off other mutant's powers?" Carla asked

"You know run of the mill stuff. Super strength, invulnerability, and night vision. I also seem to be able to run like a damn cheetah and I heal very very fast." Matthew said with a smirk

"Damn......" Carla said looking surprised

"Yeah I am just your run of the mill powerhouse. Downside is I can't seem to get full and I take forever to fall asleep." Matthew said

"So that's why you ordered all that food yesterday. " Carla said smiling

"Yeah hopefully we can find a way to take care of that before I start school."

"When do you have to start?" Carla asked

"Two weeks. But I have to take a test next week to see what grade level I am on. Hopefully I am at the same grade level as Marie. If I am maybe I can keep some of the shit she has to go through to a minimum. " Matthew said now looking angry

"What do you mean? Does she get harassed?" Carla asked

"Yeah among other things. I am sure I can take care of most of it. I just hope no one is stupid enough to try and start something with me. Knowing my luck though they probably will. Not that I have to worry about getting hurt or anything it's just the principal here is an asshole about mutants." Matthew said looking at Carla right in the eyes now


"Well, I am sure you will be able to find a way to handle him. I mean look at how you handled that Duncan guy." Carla said with a slight smile

"Who told you about that?" Matthew asked looking surprised

"Jubilee. She told me pretty much everything you been up to since you showed up ." Carla said

"You mean you know about all that and you aren't freaked out? I mean I been doing some really sadistic shit. " Matthew said looking slightly ashamed

"Yeah I know everything you did to keep Rogue safe. I am going to confess I was freaked out when she told me but I can see you aren't like that all the time so I don't really care. Just as long as you don't freak out on me anyway." Carla said looking a little nervous now

"I would never do something like that to you Carla! You know that right? I may have a little anger management problem but I would never hurt someone I care about." Matthew said taking her hand

"Just making sure. " Carla said with a sigh of relief

"Don't be silly. I mean did we ever even get into a fight when we were little? Did I ever even hit you playfully? " Matthew asked raising his brows

"No..." Carla said smiling

"That's right and I never will do anything like that I promise. Besides you know my parents would kill me if I ever hurt you not to mention I would probably kick my own ass for it." Matthew said smiling now too

Carla giggled

The two childhood friends sat and talked to each other for the next two hours. Matthew bringing up old stories that Carla had nearly forgotten about. Carla telling Matthew about all the things her and her Matthew had done after they started middle school together. Matthew found himself feeling extremely happy while they talked. The sadness he had felt for the last few years had slowly started to fade when he came to this world and now he found that as he talked to Carla and thought of his relationship with Rogue that the sadness was almost completely gone. While they were talking Rogue came into the rec room and sat beside Matthew and kissed him on the cheek

"Hey I see you two are getting along fine now." Rogue said smiling

"Yeah it seems nothing was different at all before I saw her last." Matthew said turning to Rogue and smiling brightly

"Yeah I think we have caught up on the last eight years of our life.. Do either of you have an e-mail address or cell phone number for me to call and write to while I am home? " Carla asked looking at the Couple while smiling

"We don't have a cellphone right now but we do have an e-mail address. Here let me write it down for you." Rogue said picking up and pen and piece of paper from the coffee table and scribbling something down on it before handing Carla the paper

"Thanks I'll e-mail both of you as much as I can. Maybe when you come down for Christmas we can hang out together. How does that sound?" Carla asked still smiling

"I'd really like that." Rogue said

"Of course we can." Matthew said

"OK good. I think I am going to let you two be alone now. See you later Matty. You too Rogue." Carla said getting up from the couch and leaving the room

"Thanks." Matthew said looking to Rogue

"For what?" Rogue asked trying to look innocent

"For giving me back an old friend. " Matthew said smiling before he kissed her

"You don't have to thank me Matthew. You done so much for me It was the least I could do. I know you still care a lot about her and I also know you thought I didn't want you two being friends again but I want to see you happy as much as you want me to be happy. I am just glad it worked out and she didn't have a mental break down while I was gone." Rogue said with a sigh

"I think she came close a couple of time." Matthew said jokingly

"Oh shut up." Rogue said slapping him on the arm

"Where did you and Kitty go off to anyway?" Matthew asked

"We just hung out at the mall for a while.... Oh yeah I got some pizza come on lets go eat it before anyone else does." Rogue said getting up and practically dragging Matthew off the couch

"OH PIZZA!" Matthew said jumping up and sweeping Rogue into his arms

"I LOVE YOU!" Matthew said giving her a big kiss

"Whoa there cowboy! I love you too" Rogue said laughing as she wrapped her arms around his neck

Matthew carried her into the kitchen were Rogue said the pizza was. They sat at the table and ate the food in question all the while talking.

"So did Beast find out anything?" Rogue asked eating her pizza

"Yeah. Nothing about how I block powers though and apparently its all up to me to learn how since Xavier can't get in my head anymore. I know I can control it I mean look at what happened at the park. At first I thought it was just because Piotr was all metaled up but you drained him even while he was like that right?" Matthew asked with a mouthful of food

"Yeah once or twice. What if you can't control it though? That might have just been some fluke at the park you know." Rogue said

"If I can't I can't. To be honest with you I am just happy with the fact we can touch each other." Matthew said putting his hand over Rogue's

"I know...Have you figured out what you are going to say to your parents yet?" Rogue asked

"Yeah. Just don't worry about that right now I am not going to be cruel to them. Now what do you say you and me go up to our room and watch TV? " Matthew asked as he ate the last bite of his food

"You just want to watch TV?" Rogue asked with a very suggestive look on her face

"I would love to do more trust me but the place is packed and it looks like Storm is going to pull an all nighter in the green house again." Matthew said frowning

"Shit.......well OK we can go watch TV." Rogue said looking disappointed

Matthew got up and gave Rogue a kiss. She smiled and got out of her chair only to have Matthew sweep her up in his arms again

"Going to carry me to our room are you?" Rogue asked smiling

"You got it Darlin ." Matthew said before kissing her

Matthew walked them to their room and Rogue opened the door still in his arms. Matthew kicked the door shut and walked over to the bed and sat down still holding her

"Have I told you how much I love you today? " Matthew asked smiling

"Nope. Tell me!" Rogue said smiling herself

Ten minutes later he came out naked as the day he was born and put on some boxers. Then he returned her dresser to it's proper resting place and turned off the lights. The only light left in the room was the lamp next to Rogue's bed. he walked over and got under the covers and Rogue kissed him

"Goodnight Matthew love you." Rogue said laying her head down on his chest as he turned off the lamp

"Goodnight Marie love you too." Matthew said kissing her on the crown of her head

And like that the couple slept the night away
