A Confrontation... Kinda

The wind blew through her hair in a most exhilarating manner, pulling the bobby pins out to free the riotous mahogany locks.  Though she was normally the cautious type, Rose laughed. The wind was brisk, bringing colour to her cheeks, and in front of her the visceral male creature exuded heat.  She could feel is tight abs beneath her arms, and even his back felt heavily muscled where her curves rested against it. The very scent of him washed over her with the wind, male, and whisky, and cigars, he was truly appealing in a way that most modern men weren't. He rode his bike hard, zipping down the streets at inappropriate speeds and turning on a dime, but oddly she felt safe with him.  Finally they pulled up in front of a seedy looking lounge with smoke filtering out of the open windows. Strains of music ventured out to be lost amidst the sounds of the street.

Rose raised an eyebrow as Logan assisted her down from the bike.  "Really? You needed to bring me here?"

He chuckled, patting her hand as he pulled her towards the door.  "Nah, I needed to come here on a looksee for my bossman, I wanted you to come along and keep me company."

What could a girl say to that? Rose grinned and shook her head.  "I am so not dressed for this..."  Logan rolled his eyes.  "No, really... can we just... step into the alley for a minute?"

The handsome man gave her an odd look but nodded acquiescence, carefully checking the alley for inhabitants.  "All clear, darlin'."

Rose glared and gestured at him to turn around. He gave a short, disappointed sigh, but obliged.  Focusing, Rose closed her eyes, picturing the outfit she wanted until she felt that tiny thrill that was her ability. The world softened about her as she shifted only the clothes, transforming the dingy, polyester uniform into a pair of dark wash, wide-legged jeans and a silky red blouse, trying to take her cue from Logan's outfit. She left the trench though, not wanting to explain where it had gone.  She breezed past Logan, giggling at his confusion.

"Okay, let's do this."

He gave her a careful glance, not wanting to her to know he was doing so.  He was pretty sure he knew what she had done, after all, he'd been friends with Morph long enough to know a shifter, and being up close and personal with Mystique kinda trapped the smell in a bloke's memory.  This girl smelled a little different, but he knew he hadn't heard the sounds of clothes being changed.  Well, well, wouldn't the professor be proud of him.  If the lounge singer panned out, that'd be two more mutants, local and friendly, identified.

Inside the lounge was thick with smoke, and the dulcet tones of a female vocalist rang out over the crowd, lulling them into a sense of calm and enjoyment.

"Just tonight I will stay

And we'll throw it all away

When the light hits your eyes

It's telling me I'm right

And if I, I am through

And it's all because of you

Just tonight"

Rose stopped dead, causing Logan to crash into her back, almost knocking her over.  There, on the stage crooning into a microphone while wearing a skimpy green sequined dress, was her baby sister.  Rose would recognize those blonde bangs anywhere, though she wasn't sure why her sister insisted on ruining perfectly lovely chestnut hair with dye like that.  She was always bugging Rose to do similar things, since she could just morph them in like it was natural.  Rose disapproved of misuse of their mutant abilities and this... this was totally an example of that. She could hear the power underlying her sister's voice, calming the crowd, making them fall just that little bit in love with her.

She pulled away from Logan, stomping back towards the dressing room as her sister bowed and left the stage. Some bully-boy tried to give her grief, but she subconsciously morphed herself stronger, pushing him aside as she threw open the dressing-room door.

"I would like an explanation for this behaviour, Foxglove Trixation Cavanaugh, and I want one right now! You're supposed to be doing caricature's in the park. Does Briar know what you're doing? This is amoral! A gross misuse of your ability! Are you even listening to me?"

But Foxglove was giggling, and pointing to a spot behind Rose's back. Rose turned to see Logan giving her a curious perusal. "I don't think you've been entirely honest with me, Rose darlin'."
