The Great Escape Part 1
Disclaimer, blah, blah, I'm poor and insane...
Kitty stirred groggily. Something was tapping her cheek insistently, and finally her senses came back enough for her to open her eyes.
She squinted to focus on the blurry figure above her, but instantly regretted it and squeezed her eyes shut again. With a painful groan she tried to sit up, but rested a minute against the chest of whoever was holding her to wait for the dizziness to abate. She buried her aching head into the crook of the stranger’s shoulder as her memories foggily returned. She remembered being scarred shitless when...when those thugs grabbed her. Thank god someone had been there to help. Her glimpse of them had been in the half-second before she hit the wall. Boy, did those guys look pissed!
Hopefully they had called the police on those creeps, and now she needed to wake up and thank her saviors. Kitty struggled to open her eyes, but she was so sleepy. The chest she was leaning on was so comfy...and he smelled so nice! Inhaling deeply, she snuggled contentedly against his velvet shirt and felt his stomach muscles tense beneath her. She groped blindly for his hand to hold onto until she could wake up and thank him. So weak...she could hardly lift her hand, and instead let it flop onto his shoulder. After a few minutes of rest she worked up enough energy to move her hand slowly down his arm.
Kitty mentally frowned in puzzlement. It was too hot for long sleeve shirts, especially velvet ones... There was something very odd her brain was trying to tell her. Then his arm shifted and her hand was enveloped in his three-fingered one. Suddenly she was wide awake, looking into a very troubled, yet familiar face.
“Kurt?” She croaked, blinking several times to make sure she was really awake. As he helped her sit up, she was overcome with emotion and could not suppress the tears that trickled down her cheeks. “Oh Kurt, I was so scarred! I looked and looked for you guys, but I couldn’t *sniff* find you and then those *sniff* other guys started fol*hiccup* following me and I waited and waited for you guys to come get me, but you never did and...and...” Her triad succumbed into sniffling and hiccups which made her head throb painfully.
And then Kurt was there rocking her and smoothing her hair back away from her tear-streaked face, all the while whispering soothingly to her. Slowly she relaxed into the warmth of his rumbling chest, and all the stress from the day disappeared as she lapsed into deep and peaceful darkness.
