DISCLAIMER: don't own the x-men ... and I'm not making any money off of this, it's all just for my own personal fun *s*
Author's note: A number of songs have inspired me, mainly Wicked Game by Chris Isaak (the lyrics, people, the lyrics ... I really feel that song captures the relationship between R/L), but also My Immortal by Evanescence and Take this Life by In Flames ( a personal fav.).
... and oh, any kind of mistake/-s are my own fault (... or maybe I'll just blame my comp. instad *s*)

about a week later ...
“Ro!” Jean called as she saw her friend leaning against the wall outside one of the classrooms.
Ororo Munroe, as always dressed to kill, was wearing some kind of dark blue leather cat suit and matching high heels, gestured at Jean to stay quiet.
“Schhh, yeah what’s up Jeannie?” She smiled and motioned for Jean to come and stay close.
“Hey, why all the secrecy?”
“Look”, Ororo said in a low voice, pointing down the hallway.
Jean followed her eyes, and saw Logan talking to Rogue.
“Logan … so he’s talking to the girl, what about it?”
Ororo frowned, while chewing her lower lip, before she finally crossed her arms. “I don’t know, I guess I’m just surprised to see her talking to him of all people. Ever since he brought her here, she’s been showing progress with her ability, making friends, but …”
“But what? You’ve talked to the girl alone on several occasions, right? She seems to be secure enough around you, Ro”, Jean said cautiously, glancing at her friend, then at her lover and his protégé.
“When he left, and I’m talking about the most recent one, she withdrew from me and not just me, and it’s been like that ever since, well more or less. I think she’s a lot more dependent on him than we know, than she knows, and I don’t know what to make of it.”
“But he’s been here for several months now, he came back Ro, so why all this worrying over the girl? He’s not her father, you know.” Logan had a habit of coming and going as he pleased, and often stayed away for weeks, sometimes months, like he had after defeating Magneto at Liberty Island.
Ororo glanced at her friend. No, she had no idea what to do or make of it. Logan and Rogue didn’t seem to have a particularly friendly conversation, judging by their body language. She liked Rogue, thought of her as a kid sister in many ways, nice and friendly and sweet. But what Ororo detected wasn’t that girlie look, Rogue appeared to be utterly serious, to the point of being stern. Whatever they were talking about, Rogue suddenly turned her back on Logan. After a few seconds she marched away, down the hall, leaving Logan behind. He followed her with his eyes, a gloomy look flashed across his face. He hadn’t moved, when he was approached by a young man, both Jean and Ororo knew.
“Aaand here comes Bobby”, Ororo said, nodding to herself. “Someone doesn’t like Uncle Logan hanging around Rogue.” She turned to Jean, telling her she had to go. “I’ll see if I can find out what’s going on, okay?”
“You do that, I’ve a meeting with Lilith-Ana and her sister, Starlight, and that guy they brought with them. Naja, if you remember him”, Jean said. Oh, she remembered Naja alright, there was no way to forget at sight like that.
Ororo grinned. “’Course I do, I can just picture that fabulous butt of his, and those eyes, whoa girl!” Yeah, Naja had the most beautiful eyes Ororo had ever seen, absolutely amazing eyes, shimmering emerald green, with a hint of black in them. He’d turned a few head alright, walking down the hallways of the mansion.
When Storm had finally left, Jean studied Bobby and Logan again. They were arguing, at least Bobby was, obviously telling Logan off. He walked backwards a couple of steps while staring at Logan, hatred streaming from his eyes, before heading in the same direction Rogue had. Oh wasn’t this the best of days. Maybe not, she thought and shrugged.
Logan hadn’t seen her, or Storm, watching his little … ah well … interaction with Rogue and Bobby, and in truth she had no intention of telling him they’d had front seats to the show. Not if this was a onetime conversation, Logan’s overly protective behaviour towards the girl bothered Jean to the point where she’d begun to really dislike the her. Not that Rogue really posed a threat to her when it came to Logan, or so she had decided it was going to be. He was leaning against the wall, lighting a cigar, and when she approached him he didn’t immediately react.
“Logan!”
“Hey ya babe, what’s happenin’?”
“Oh not much, I spotted you just now and had to tell you we have the evening off … the rest of the weekend actually”, she said smiling up at him. He looked distant. Okay, so he’s preoccupied, but it cannot last all day, right? she thought, waiting for him to answer.
“Really?”
“So …”
Logan arched an eyebrow at her. “Sooo? What have you been up to, Jean?”
“Nothing, and everything involving the two of us and a couple of bottles of wine.” She traced her hands down his broad chest, feeling the muscles beneath the fabric of his, more or less, indispensable white tank top. Touching him made things low in her body tighten, he was utterly masculine, sexy and gorgeous, yet beautiful at the same time, and best of all – he was all hers.
“Wine eh? Now that’s more like it”, he said casually.
Jean pressed herself against him, making sure he understood her intentions. “I asked Xavier if we could stay at one of the newly built cabins up at the lake, and guess what he said?”
“Oh you’ve got the key already, a weekend without interruption would be nice for a change.”
She nodded, leaning her head against his shoulder. “Yeah that’s for sure. I’ve had enough turmoil for the past two weeks, you know Lilith-Ana and Starlight … well, let’s just say that they’re just somewhat demanding to be around. Ana I could handle when she was recovering from her illness, and Starlight is no real problem, not that I’ve noticed anyways. A fully recovered Ana and you have more than you can handle, I can tell you that mister.”
“You know what they say about people and their aliases, Jean. Someone named Lilith-Ana, well … that says it all I guess, but I haven’t talked to her, or met her so I cannot really pass judgement on her. I would like to though”, he grinned while grabbing her buttocks.
“Maybe, but not alone. There’s more than just that fancy name, Logan.” She tried going for her best possessive face, studying his features.
“Now you got me all curious Jean, she’s gotta be something special by the way you’re talking about her.”
“Yeah well, it’s not that I’m afraid she’ll take you away from me, even though she’s drop dead gorgeous. She has the ability to hypnotize and she’s also a shape shifter, hence the name Lilith-Ana”, she answered matter-of-factly.
“How do you know she won’t want me?”
Oh he was teasing her alright, trying to get her to be jealous. Well, she wasn’t.
“Well for one thing, she has eyes only for Naja, or so it seems anyway, and as a snake shifter she wouldn’t be striving for the kind of intimacy you’re suggesting. Not with the Wolverine.”
“I see. Well, I have to meet her someday to see if I can change that dear”, he smirked and smacked her bottom.
“Oh you’ll have your hands full by tonight, that I can guarantee.”
“Would I –“, he began, as his cell phone rang. “Yeah? Okay, we’ll be there right away.”
“Who was it?”
“Xavier.”
