Thoughts
Everyone thank you for your reviews they mean a lot to me! MarzBarz I know Logan isn't really that tall, but for this story I've given him some height. I don't want Ororo to have to bend down to far to kiss him ;). Thanks for taking notice to my details. Thanks again and I'll do my bestt o continue to update. Peace
Chapter 3. Thoughts
Jean lay with her back turned away from her husband. She new he was not sleepy but in the mood for some morning lovemaking. She was happy that when she read his mind pleasant thoughts of her were usually there.
As much as she wanted to satisfy Scott’s needs, she had someone else on her mind. She could not shake away seeing Logan at the club from last night. She wondered what he was doing in town and how long he planned to stay. He had caused plenty of trouble for her when he was last there and the thought of having him around did not make her feel too good.
Jean had had an affair with Logan nearly four years ago and as much as she wished, she could have hidden it from Scott she couldn’t. She was somehow able to build up the guts to let Scott know. He was furious and had called their wedding off. It took him almost six months to forgive her, but his love for her was able to overcome the hurt she had caused his heart.
They had their wedding and it was a grand affair. Scott could not have been happier with the woman of his dreams at his side. Jean may have told him of her mistake, but she left out who the person was with him being back in town she wondered if she was going to be able to hide it any longer. She could tell by the way he was looking at Ororo he wanted exactly what he had gotten from her. She found it amusing that Ororo would never let him have it.
She tried to gently slide out of bed but Scott had turned over and had reached for her. She closed her eyes briefly and then turned around to face him. They kissed each other deeply, ignoring the sour smell of morning breath.
Betrisha sighed as she read the newspaper’s front cover over again. She could not understand how two more people had just been murdered so brazenly. They had been shot to death; both over a dozen times each. What had her pondering over the murders wasn’t just how horrible the two had to die, but that they were two people on the city’s most wanted list.
There had been over ten deaths in the six months of her arriving in Arbor and five out of the ten had been people from the most wanted list. What she wanted to know was who was able to find the villains quicker then the police force; the force she was working for. She read on and on, skimming through what she thought was irrelevant until she got to the last sentence of the story. ‘The Punisher isn’t done getting the people that cause our community harm.’ Her left eyebrow rose up to the press naming someone that they suspected as the killer.
She glanced over at Nick Andres. He was suppose to her partner, but all he wanted to do was flirt. She wondered if he might act a little professional this afternoon.
“Andres!” She called out as she continued to look his way.
Nick quickly turned her way and smiled charmingly. He licked his thin pink lips and then opened them,” Yes Trisha?”
“Did you read today’s paper?”
Nick nodded his head nonchalantly.
“Who is,’ The Punisher’?
Nick chuckled softly.
“You don’t know who he is?”
“If I did I wouldn’t have asked you.” Betrisha began to frown.
“That’s right you are still kinda new. People call, ‘The Punisher’ the city hero. He’s some guy who they’ve made up that kills all the bad guys that the police can’t find.”
“If he kills killers what makes him such a hero? He is a murderer too. How do they even know it’s a guy?”
Nick shrugged his shoulders,” Listen you asked who he was and I gave you an answer.”
“Why are you acting so casually about this? Doesn’t it worry you that an ultimate person is murdering our most dangerous criminals? Is he a mutant?”
“No one knows really, but I think he might actually be a regular human. He shoots most of his victims. Why would a mutant need to do all that?”
Betrisha shrugged her shoulders this time.
“Don’t worry your pretty face about all this. He won‘t come after you Trisha. I‘m your protection.” Nick smiled.
“Why do I feel like that doesn’t mean a thing?” She said sarcastically.
Ororo kept her eyes shut tightly as she pulled her legs closer to her chest in her bed. The warm thick covers felt comforting around her body. She clutched them tighter over her head as she frowned; annoyed that she had to wake up.
After another moment she realized that she was not going to just drift back to sleep. Slowly she brought the sheets down, away from her face and peered over to her nightstand. It was way past her normal time of getting up. Before she could think about doing something else the loud annoying ringing of the phone buzzed through the house. Ororo rolled her eyes and slide out of bed. She didn’t care who it was as she made her way to the adjoining bathroom. After three more rings, the answering machine kicked in.
“ORORO!!!! I know you’re home girl! Listen when you decide to talk you dial me up. We got to talk about your disturbing behavior out there on the floor last night, Virgin Mary! Peace out, you know who I be.”
Ororo grinned as she began to pin her hair up. Anita was a trip and that was the best way to sum her up. She listened to her animated voice chastising her lightly on last night’s outing. She grinned even wider as she remembered exactly what she was doing. Going out was exactly what she needed to forget about the horrible discovery her boyfriend.
After she brushed her teeth and washed her face she made her way down stairs, poured a glass of milk, and headed to the garage. She was going to need a box. Some things needed to be discarded quickly.
