Hail Caesar
"What? How?" Logan asked looking around.
"I don't know. We just received reports from all over the city the Remaining horsemen are on their way here destroying everything in their path What do you suggest we do?" Forge asked over the intercom
"Why the hell are you asking me ?" Logan asked
"You are second in command and since Charles is dead that makes you leader by default. Now what do we do? I don't know how long my security system will hold them off you need to think fast." Forge said sounding very calm.
"We need to evacuate the students now they aren't ready for something like this." Ororo said trying her best to control her emotions.
"She is right Logan we must evacuate until we have a sound means of attack." Hank said in agreement.
"No ... get the kids that still have trouble controlling their powers or aint got powers we can use to the teleporter ...... get the rest suited up and have them meet me here." Logan said in a very serious and emotionless tone.
"Logan you can't be serious they are just children!" Hank said jumping to his feet.
"Hank shut up and help Ro. Apocalypse wants a war he's going to get one." Logan said now showing a bit more emotion.
"I can't allow you to do this Logan I gave my word I would never allow any of the students of this school to come under harm if I could help it. We need to evacuate!" Storm said looking very upset and strained.
" I am not going to run!" Logan yelled back in response.
"Neither are we!" A young man that looked to be in his early twenties said from behind the arguing adults. He was tall lanky and his skin was a grayish green color. He walked down the staircase Followed by the rest of the students of the school. Following beside him a young woman roughly the same age of great beauty say for the bone structure just above her brow and the violate pigment of her skin and dark pink hair.
"Leech Come with me we have to get you children out of here." Hank said standing and turning to the group of students.
All the students either seemed sad or to have been crying. Some of the younger ones still sobbing. From what was easy to guess the news of their lost mentors.
"We are not leaving we are going to fight. That's what Logan trained us for..they all trained us for." The young woman said
"Sarah this is not the time for blind heroics." Ororo said in response
"I told you to call me Marrow. You can run if you want But I am going to stay and fight with Logan. We all are." Marrow snapped back looking very upset with Ororo's remark.
"But you are just children! " Ororo said look like she was on the brink of tears.
"We are running out of time here folks either we leave or we fight no more arguing." Forge said as a siren and loud explosion was heard in the distance.
"We aren't going to run!" Leech said his temper getting the better of him the as lights of the school flickering from his loss of control.
"Those that are staying follow me the rest go meet Forge at the transporter room." Logan said turning around a lighting a cigar.
"Logan you can't be serious!" Storm said walking after Logan and grabbing his arm.
"Ro .. You know how I feel about you but you're really pushing my self control Darlin." Logan said closing his eyes and letting out a shaky breath mixed with the smoke of his cigar.
"We can't let these children do this." Ororo said In a calm low voice.
"I know .. but we have no choice. We either stand up to him now or we run for the rest of our lives. I failed them and I'll be damned if I turn yellow and run now."
Logan said before forcefully removing his arm from Ororo's grasp and walking to the elevator. Leech Marrow and the rest of the older students following close behind him. The younger Following Hank to the second elevator.
"Logan Please!!" Ororo said pleading with Logan who just turned away as the elevator Closed Leaving Ororo Alone.
Hank was running as fast as he could to the transporter. His biped stance going to a quadruped sprint as the other students ran behind him. As he entered the Transport he suddenly stopped as if he ran into a wall and turned to the students.
"CHILDREN WAIT!!! YOU DO NOT NEED TO SEE THIS!" Hank said blocking the door.
"What's Wrong Mister McCoy?" One of the student's asked
"It's nothing Franklin. Just give me a moment to clean something up." Hank said walking into the room and closing the door behind him.
"Did you really have to do that Hank?" Forge asked looking to Hank in his robotic form.
"WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!"
Hank said looking to Forge's Body laying next to the Robot which still had wires hooked to his head. Other wires hooked into the walls and the monitor in front of it. Forge's Body was covered in blood a deep set of gashes across his arms and chest.
"What's it look like? Sabertooth got to Forge ... I mean me before he reached Xavier. Luckily I had one of my new android Models in here from earlier and had time to use the memory transfer I had been working on to make combat simulation more realistic to download my memories into it." The Robot said typing out something so fast Hank only heard the keys being touched but never saw it's hand movements.
"Why the hell didn't you tell me you had such a device?! I could have used it to save Rogue!" Hank said Moving so fast Forge yelped as Hank pushed him against the monitors and held him down with a strength Forge never new Hank possessed.
"You don't understand! .. I am just memory .. Forge is dead. I am just a shadow. I couldn't do that to her. I know you couldn't either." Forge said his robotic tone full of sadness.
A tear fell down Hank's cheek as he loosened his grip. He back away from the robot shaking his head.
" I promised her I would help her hold on .. But I couldn't. I tried everything. I don't know what happened but something killed her and it wasn't her wounds ..." Hank said wiping away his tears from his matted face.
"You and I both know what killed her." Forge said looking to His friend.
Hank started to Speak But Forge spoke first.
"The Children." Forge said
"What?" Hank asked.
"Don't we have to get the children out of here?" Forge asked hoping his question would get Hank's Mind off His failure to save Rogue.
"My goodness yes!" Hank said quickly taking off his coat and draping it over Forge's Body.
Hank quickly ran to the door and let the children in. Minutes Later they had all been sent to A safe house.. A very safe house indeed the teenager Franklin's parents house.
"You aren't going with them? " Forge asked
"Despite my earlier apprehension to fight I have decided I will stand my ground." Hank said walking down the ramp as the transport's portal closed.
"Why? " Forge asked
"What kind of question is that?!" Hank said looking very surprised.
"I simply wanted to know what changed your mind." Forge said turning to Hank.
"I don't know. I just feel it is the right thing to do. Weather it is a wise thing to do we will soon find out. Any idea how long we have to prepare?" Hank asked
"Depending on how long the police hold out between ten to thirty minutes if they call for backup from neighboring counties." Forge said turning back to the monitor.
"I hate not being able to help them," Hank said
"You know what will happen if we try. They Will attack us just the same as they are fighting the horsemen. A mutant is a mutant and they don't care what side we are on." Forge responded.
"I am very aware of that fact Forge. Now if you excuse me I must prepare." Hank said before leaving the room.
"What's he doing?" A tall Boy asking his eyes were black and his face had a beak like appearance. Under his arms were wing like appendages His hands in the form of three long sharp talons.
"Hell If I know he hasn't moved or anything in five minutes." Marrow responded
"Maybe he fell asleep. Poke him and see if he moves." Leech said in response Which got him a harsh look from Marrow. The three teens turned to another girl.
"Don't look at me I am not going to touch him." She said. She was African American and looked normal except for the large bug like wings that sprouted from her back.
The two teens sat on the bench having changed into the generic X-men training uniforms. In the Corner Logan was sitting Indian style infront of a large covered case. It was square in shape and had a black silk sheet over it. To each side sat a small bowl with burning incense. In the center was a small black wooden plaque with golden Japanese symbols carved into the face. Logan reached out and removed the plaque sitting it face up to his right side and removed the sheet. Reveling an old set of ceremonial Samurai Armor. it was in the same style as his old Brown and orange uniform. Under it sat a wooden box sealed shut with a tided ribbon.
"WOW what's that?" Leech said his face full of surprise and wonder.
"What do you think it is dumbass it's samurai armor." Beak said.
"How do you know that?" Marrow asked
"Because unlike the rest of you guys I pay attention in History class." Beak said standing up and getting a rather menacing baseball bat out of his locker.
"What are you doing with that?" Leech asked.
"I got a good idea what Logan is doing and I am doing the same. I'll meet you guys at the elevator."
Beak said walking out of the room bat over his shoulder as Hank walked in. Hank looked at the students then to Logan.
"Children I think it would be best if you gave Logan some time to himself." Hank said looking to Logan then the three students left in the room.
"Yes, sir" The three teens said before leaving the room.
"Thanks Hank...." Logan said breaking his silence.
"Do you really plan on doing this Logan? I thought you said you were never going to use it again." Hank said opening his locker and taking out his uniform.
"I know what I said Hank ... " Logan said opening the latch on the front of the case and taking out the wooden box.
"Do you think we have a chance of winning?" Hank asked as he removed his clothes and quickly put on his uniform.
"Can't say ... Hank I realize what you are trying to do but it won't work. After what he did to them I won't run. Even if it means we all die I will not turn my back on their sacrifice. I owe em that much." Logan said lowering his head and letting out a shaky breath
"Logan despite what I said earlier I have decided That what you told Storm was true. If we do not stand our ground now he will hunt us all down." Hank said as He finished putting on his uniform and sat on the bench behind Logan.
Logan didn't say anything only nodded his head as he slowly opened the box reveling a samurai sword. It's handle stand with blood. Blood that looked to have been on the sword for many years. As Logan looked at the sword and the sent of the rotting dried blood reached his nose flashes of what had happened on what would have been the happiest day of his life flowed over him (1) but he quickly pushed them to the back of his mind. he removed the sword which was tied shut to its sheath with a white silk ribbon. he place the sword in his lap and lowered his head for a moment then said.
"I know I promised ya Darlin I'd never use this sword again for vengeance but I'm afraid I gotta break that promise.. I hope you can forgive me..." Logan said as he raised the sword and quickly drew it from its sheath breaking the ribbon in the process.
Hank only watched and listened to Logan's words. The words hitting him hard as he realized Logan was not only going to break a promise he had made to the women he had loved more deeply than even Storm and Rose combined but perhaps was also preparing to die a warriors death. Logan then turned to Hank and said as he started to stand and tied the sword to his side.
"Did you tell them?" Logan said
"Tell who what?" Hank asked
Logan gave Hank a cold look one than Hank knew the meaning of right away.
"No... I did not have the time to inform their families..." Hank said lowering his head.
"To late now Bub... If we survive this I'll take Half...." Logan said before nearly breaking his hard exterior as he thought of Kitty laying on that bed cold and stiff.
"...I'll take Half pint home..." Logan said recomposing himself.
"Very well MY friend." Hank said
"I can't believe this shit Happened.. We just lost Piotr and now we lost everyone .. Just us old dogs left to save the world... I had hoped The kids would be the ones to carry on. Not us" Logan said sitting next to Hank
"...I...." Hank said not being able to speak.
"Just shut up Hank .. I'm just thinking out loud I ain't looking for you to try to make me feel better. Besides the only thing that is gonna make me feel better is sticking this sword down That physco's throat and watch him squirm like a worm on a hook. Then I think I'm going to drink myself into a coma. But I'm guessing beer ain't gona help me forget this time..." Logan said with a pained look on his face.
"I Hate to interrupt But The Horseman have broke through the barricades. They are only a block away from the compound. What should would do?" Forge said over the intercom
"We do what we always do. We fight we win then we pick up the pieces ." Logan said before standing up and leaving the room.
"Hail Caesar for those who are about to die .. We salute you" Hank said to himself before getting up and following Logan.
