Chapter 27

Chapter 27

“I can’t believe the Professor was so understanding,” Kurt said, pulling Logan into his room and shutting the door. “This is so much better than I had hoped.”

Logan pulled Kurt into his arms and kissed him. “Yeah, but that doesn’t mean we can sleep together here.”

“I know, but at least we don’t have to keep hands off completely while we’re on grounds.”

“And that is a good thing,” Logan said, nuzzling Kurt’s hair and kissing his ear. “Will you turn that thing off? I like kissin’ the real you.”

Kurt pushed the button and grinned. “Better?”

“It’s you and that’s what I like.”

A knock came at the door. “Kurt, it’s me, Kitty.”

Logan released Kurt and sighed. “Things are back to normal. I’d better go unpack.”

Kurt walked Logan to the door and opened it. There stood a startled Kitty.

“Oh, Logan. Uh, hi...uh,” Kitty stammered then blushed scarlet. “I just came by to apologize to Kurt, but since you’re here I’m sorry about the other day. I was way out of line.”

“Don’t sweat it, half pint,” Logan said. “We kinda sent everyone into shock. Now you and the elf make up and be friends.”

Kurt watched Logan’s receding back and let out a sigh. “Come in, Kitty.”

She came, glancing around like she’d never been in his room before. Then she turned to him with an earnest gaze. “I’m real sorry, Kurt. The way I acted on Friday was like so bogus. I have no right to judge you or Logan. I guess I was just kinda hurt, you know, cause I thought we were closer than that and you didn’t talk to me about how you felt about Logan.”

Kurt let her ramble, waiting for an opportunity to speak. Finally Kitty ran down and stared at him with her big pretty eyes.

“I’m sorry too,” Kurt said. “It was...I don’t know...just not something I felt like I could talk about...to anyone. I’ve been very confused lately.”

“Are you still confused?” she asked, making herself comfortable on his bed. Kurt sat as well, trying to find the right answer to her question.

“Not so much now. I know I care for Logan very much and I want to be with him. And he wants to be with me.”

She chewed her lip and glanced at him through a veil of lashes. “Did you...you know...do it? You and Logan?”

“Oh Kitty. This is very uncomfortable to talk about.”

“You did, didn’t you?” Her eyes were wide. “Wow.”

Kurt teleported over to the door and shoved it closed then “ported” back. “Would you please keep your voice down? We promised the Professor we would be discreet, so no talking about me and Logan in front of the others, okay?”

“Well, yeah, of course. What do I look like a geek or something?”

“No, I just don’t want any trouble, that’s all.”

She nodded. “Your secrets are safe with me.”

Kurt frowned. “What do I look like, a kiss and tell kind of guy?”

“Oooh, you kissed him. Is he a good kisser? I can’t imagine kissing Logan. My god this is like so freaky.”

Kurt let out a sigh. He had wanted to make up with Kitty, but he hadn’t realized what a monster he’d unleash.

“What was it like?” she continued in the face of Kurt’s silence. “I mean, did it hurt? I’ve thought about, you know, maybe me and Lance doing it, but I don’t know. He can be such a jerk sometimes.”

“You be careful with Lance Alvers, okay?” Kurt said. “I don’t like how he treats you sometimes, like you belong to him.”

“I know. He’s not really good for me, but there’s something about him that just keeps drawing me back. I know it’s crazy. I’ll think I’ve got him out of my system and then he’s there again.”

“Kinda like a case of the flu,” Kurt muttered.

“If I didn’t know better I’d think you were jealous.”

“Not jealous,” Kurt said with a smile. “Just concerned, like a brother is concerned.”

“Yeah, you are like a brother to me,” Kitty said, returning his smile.

“I seem to have a lot of sisters around here,” Kurt replied. “I like that.”

“You haven’t answered a single one of my questions.”

“You haven’t stopped asking them. I will tell you one thing and then I’m going to go take a shower.”

Kitty waited with eyes wide and expectant.

“It was wonderful. Like nothing I’ve ever experienced.”

“Oh,” she sighed and looked dreamy. “I hope my first time is that good.”

A flash of memory darkened Kurt’s mind, flashes of pain and fear. He swallowed down a hard knot in his throat and pushed the memories away, back to the dark closet he kept them in. Perhaps he should start thinking of the cabin as his and Logan’s first time.

“You okay?” Kitty asked. “You look like you’re in pain.”

“No, I’m fine. Now, if you don’t mind, I’m tired.” He rose and offered Kitty a hand up. She took it and pulled him to her, hugging him fiercely.

“I’m so glad we’re friends. You’re a neat person, Kurt. I’m glad you’ve found someone to make you happy.”

“And he does make me happy.”

“Then that’s all that matters.” She leaned up and kissed his cheek. “Goodnight.”

Kurt watched her leave then sighed and fell back on his bed wishing he were in Logan’s arms and in Logan’s bed.
