Chapter 26

Kurt confirmed Kits sus suspicions that Lance had caused the destruction to her new home. She told him about lance's visit to her apartment and the events that led up to his loud exit.

"I really didn't think he was capable of something like that." She said, swinging her legs over the side of the bed. Kurt put a hand on her shoulder and pushed her back down.

"Hank said you are to remain here for the evening." When Kitty's eyes flickered to his hands on her arms, and back up to his fashe she smiled and raised an eyebrow.

"Are you going to restrain me, Nurse Wagner?" She was definitely still on drugs. She giggled, and Kurt found himself smiling the first genuine smile he'd had in weeks. The sound of fast approaching footsteps had Kurt jumping back into his seat, guiltily, and Kitty shoving her feet back under the covers. Kurt opened the poetry book and crossed his ankle casually over his knee and began reading the first sonnet that his eyes fell upon.

"That you were once unkind, befriends me now,
And for that sorrow, which I then did feel,
Needs must I under my transgression bow,
Unless my nerves were brass or hammer'd steel."

The curtain parted and the handsome, blonde head of Warren Worthin IIn III, known as Angel to his teammates, peeked in. He smiled at Kitty who looked a little startled. He'd removed the long coat he normally wore and just wore jeans and a snug shirt that allowed his large, beautiful wings to stand out behind him. He produced a small, yet attractive boquet from behind his back and handed it to Kitty. She took it and started to thank him. But he spoke again, reciting more of the sonnet, himself.

"For if you were by my unkindness shaken,
As I by yours, you have passed a hell of time:
And I a tyrant, have no leisure taken
To which how once I suffer'd in your crime."

Kitty looked suitably impressed. Kurt cleared his throat and looked at her with a little annoyance. He finished the piece himself, making a not too subtle attempt to draw her attention back from the very handsome Worthington.

"O that our night of woe might have remember'd
My deepest sense, how hard true sorrow hits,
And soon to you, as you to me, then tender'd
The humbled salve which wounded bosoms fits!"

Kitty'seyes drifted back to her blue-furred friend and she gave him a look which spoke of her jumbled emotions.

"But that your trespass now becomes a fee;
Mine ransoms yours, and yours ransoms me."
