Remy had spent the week with his daughter. It was as fun as it always was but this time he was a little distracted. He was spending most of his time thinking about that fuzzy man that had helped him with his car. He was thanful to him but still...there was something about him that made him keep him on his mind. Logan. Such a simple name. Sexy name that rolled off your tounge. Logan. No last name...just...Logan.
He couldn't help but smile as the week passed pleasantly with his daugther. When Saturday rolled around, he dropped her off at Marie's house and smiled. "Behave petite. I'll pick you up in another week. Oui? An' if you ever want to talk to me you've got my number."
Trinity smiled and nodded before kissing her papa goodbye. Grabbing 2 of her bags, she hopped out of the car while Marie grabbed the rest of the stuff and shut the trunk. Once that was done, he waved and drove off, lighting up once they were out of his sight.
Saturday. It was nearly time for his picnic. 39 minutes and 21 seconds, he thought with a smirk. He was nothing if not meticulous when it came to time. He had to be with his old profession. And it was something that stuck with him to this day. Yeah, every once in a while he would pick up a small job here and there and they paid damn well, but since he was a father he couldn't do it as much. Besides. Now he had a respectable job with good health benefits. They even provided him with the house he was currently living in.
Driving slowly down the still snow streets, he shuddered. His wheels squealed and spun in the brown icy-slush that had once been blindingly pure whiteness. Like a blank canvas that had been splattered and smeared with a strange brown, red and yellow combination. Not a pretty sight, he thought as he cranked up the heat and drove slowly.
Turning on his GPS, he searched for West Chester. Good. He was only a 10 minute drive from there. Well...it would be ten minutes if it weren't for the ice. Damn...didn't these people know about snow plows in this city?
Finally he made it down to West Chester. 6 minutes and 43 seconds left before he was to meet Logan for a picnic. Smiling at that thought, he lit up his third cigarette and frowned. As he neared a quarter mile radius of the house where Logan lived at, the ground was no longer slushy or snowy...but showed nothing but the clearest of blacktop. The skies, instead of being their normal gray on that wintery day, was bright blue and the sun shown brightly. The grass was even peaking through.
Pulling up to a gate, he raised a brow before buzzing.
"'Lo?" asked a voice over the intercom.
"Oui...uh...I'm looking for a Monsieur Logan?"
"Yeah. Hold on. I'll buzz you in and get him. He's getting ready. Don't worry...he'll be out in a few. Just pull around to the front of the house."
Remy's brow raised just a tad bit higher at that before shrugging and driving slowly up the gravel drive as the gate slowly creaked open.
What he saw when he came closer to the mansion made him gasp. Logan lived here?!? How the hell...I mean...if he could afford to live in a mansion, why the hell was he driving that old beat-up truck and wearing those flannel shirts and tattered jeans that he'd seen him in the few days past? Remy was dumbfounded and feeling more then just a little nervous now.
Remy stopped at the circle in front of the house and put it in park, shutting the engine off just as Logan stepped out. He was dressed a bit nicer, he thought with a nervous smile.
"Hey Remy. Glad ta see that ya could make it," he said with a smile.
"Oui. Remy wasn' sure if he was gonna be able to wit' all dis snow, but she made it t'rough."
"Glad ta hear it. How's she runnin' now?"
"Purrs like a kitten every time he starts her up," Remy said on a slight smirk, feeling a bit more relaxed as they began talking cars.
Chuckling, Logan walked over and patted the car on the hood. "Uh...Wanna follow me out to the gardens? I've got a picnic set up there. The friend that help me set up tends to the gardens and so ya might see here durin' the picnic. Hope that don't bother you none...seein' someone else while we're on a picnic?"
"Non...dat's quite alright. Remy don' mind none." He followed Logan slowly, taking in the picturesque sight of the mansion and its grounds. After a few minutes, he cleared his throat. "So you own dis place den? Da upkeep must be hell," he said in awe.
Logan looked back and grinned before chuckling. "Nah...I don't own the place. The owner of the place...his name's Charles Xavier. I call him Chuck. He's a millionaire or somethin'. This is a school fer mutant children. I'm a teacher here. And a member of the X-Men.
Remy's mouth dropped at that. "So ya'll are dat rogue Mutant group dat goes out an' saves people? Da ones dat dem F.O.H people are always after?"
Logan growled a bit at the mention of the FoH but nodded none the less. "Yeah...that's us. Well, here we are,' he said, smiling to lighten the mood.
Ushering Remy to sit, Logan sat down across from Remy and opened the basket, setting out the food. "Hope ya don't mind. She's a vegan but I did convince her ta put in some protien stuff."
"Nah...Remy don' mind," he said, looking at Logan and the spread before looking around again. This place was massive, he thought.
Once Logan had finished setting up the picnic, he handed Remy a plate and a glass of wine. "Might as well...helps ta relax ya," he said with a shrug as he began plating some of the food.
They sat and talked while they ate, drank and smoked, laughing at each other for a bit, enjoying themselves immensly. Getting to know each other. It was...different. For the both of them. They'd both fallen in love at some points in their lives and both had gotten broken hearts as a result of it. Now they were both alone and just looking to find someone.
It amazed them both just how much they had in common with one another. Soon the afternoon was gone and Remy looked up with a sigh, really not wanting this date to come to an end.
Logan looked up as well and nodded. They'd polished off the food and they were half-way through their bottle of wine. They'd gone through nearly a pack with the both of them and they'd been out there for nearly 4 hours talking away.
"I really hate to see this date come to an end...but I think we should probably go. How 'bout I give you my number and we can talk tomorrow? And if you would like, you can set a date. I mean...to meet...if you want to meet again that is," Logan said, wondering why he was feeling so flustered all of a sudden.
Remy blushed a bit but chuckled as he noted Logan's akwardness. "Oui...Remy would like dat," he said.
Logan stood and nodded with a smile. Offering Remy his hand, he helped the young Cajun up. "Call me," he said with a wink before giving him his number.
Once Remy got the number in his phone, he stepped up to Logan and paused before giving him a peck on the cheek before walking off to his car.
Logan blushed a bit but grinned as he waved Remy off. He was filled with energy, so instead of going inside of the house, he took a long walk around the grounds. He couldn't believe how well the date had gone and he seriously hoped that the younger man would call him to meet with him another time.
Remy drove home smiling and whistling. He couldn't believe just how well the date had gone. The only time he could remember being this happy was when he'd first gotten married and the day that Trinity was born. When he pulled into his driveway, he sighed softly, a slight smile still visible on his lips.
Entering the door, he went into the kitchen and picked up his cat, stroking it and kissing it before setting her down. "Riley...my pretty girl...Daddy just had da best of days," he said as he went to work filling her food bowl.
A few hours later found both men in their respective beds, asleep and dreaming of the next time they would meet.
