The New Girls

A/N: As I suspected I felt like doing a little something extra. Now keep in mind I haven’t seen Apocalypse yet, in fact it was only released two days go and I’m sitting in the middle of nowhere with no net and started missing these guys. I could have started a new story for apocalypse but I was worried that my loyal readers wouldn’t notice or find it.  That being said, let’s check in on our love birds.

Lights flickered in the lab making Connie look up in confusion, she looked around to assure herself she was alone. She recognized where she was instantly, she was back at Xavior’s school. She got up wondering how she was here as she walked to the door. Then she heard the screams, and saw the running students, something was wrong. She turned to see what they were running from but someone bumped into her, then she was being shaken violently, and suddenly Connie sat up in bed panting as two girl jumped up and down on the bed laughing.

“Mama!! Mama get up!!” They said together.

“You little monsters!” She smiled and grabbed them pulling them down to her. Trying to shake the foreboding dream, to pretend like she didn’t believe it. It had been too real; it was possible that it could have been Jean who sent her the message.

“Daddy is making breakfast, he said to come get you.” Lirael smiled.

“You didn’t want to wake up,” Ariel added. It was all Connie could do to keep from laughing at the two of them. It had been a shock when she’d discovered she had been pregnant with twins but she wouldn’t change them for the world. She kissed them and then got up and headed down to the kitchen where Logan was cooking.

“Morning beautiful,” He smiled as she walked in.

“Morning,” She smiled at him, but when he sniffed her like always she knew he’d know. His face went hard and cold as his eyes narrowed.

“It was just a dream,” She said softly reaching up to sooth him.

“About them again?” He demanded and she nodded.

“We should check it out.”

“No, we’re done with that, we have a family now and besides a dream like that I’m not taking the girls to.” She said flatly as he dished up the plates and she took them to the table where the girls sat waiting.

“We can stay with Jean and Tony.” Mindy smiled at her mom trying to help, she didn’t miss the momentary look of disgust that always passed over her mom’s face when she said the name Jean, She didn’t understand it though, Mindy didn’t understand it through because Connie always seemed to like the girl when she was around.

“I’ll call her mom after breakfast.” Connie smiled, the girls smiled happily.

“We have that barbeque this weekend.” Logan reminded her.

“Don’t pretend to be disappointed in not having to ware another ‘Kiss the cook’ apron.” Connie said coming back over to him.

“You’d be pissed to if Mark tried kissing you,” he grumbled.

“I wouldn’t have time to be, I’d be to busy trying to keep you from kicking his ass.” He growled at the thought of another man kissing her. A moment later his mind went blank as she kissed him and ran off.

“HEY!” He said filling his plate, “not cool.”

“Sure it was.” She smiled sitting down, and for a moment they were a typical family you could find in a magazine. Everything was perfect in their lives, even if was a bit boring at times. After breakfast she called Lori and arranged it for the girls to stay with them for a few days.  By noon, the girls were being dropped off and Logan and Connie were on their way to the school to see what was going on.
