Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Jean could not get to the lab fast enough to hear the prognosis of Ororo’s fainting. She walked inside to see the two chuckling.
“Jean good you’re here. Miss Monroe is in perfect health and requires only more rest.”
Ororo smiled at Hank and then turned to look at Jean. “I hope I didn’t scare anyone.”
Jean smiled. “You had us a little frightened.”
Ororo took that for what it was worth and walked from the Lab with Jean following.
“Scott is not ready for a baby Ororo.” Ororo stopped walking and faced her frowning.
“We will decide when we are ready for anything Jean.”
“I am not trying to speak for Scott but he never talked about children with me.”
“Things change Jean.”
Jean looked at the floor then back up at Ororo. Her eyes were filled with tears. “You were my friend Ororo. You know that I still love him. He thinks that I …”
“Jean” Ororo closed her eyes to calm the rising emotions in her body and the threatening weather response.
“Ororo Scott and I have four years together. Why couldn’t you let us work it out?”
Ororo continued to frown at the now crying woman. “Scott didn’t want to work it out Jean. He said that you killed that possibility when you slept with Logan.”
“I said I was sorry. How many times do I have to say that? It’s not Scott It’s you. You won’t let him come back to me.”
Ororo turned and walked away.
Jean watched her. “Don’t you walk away from me!” She used her mind to spin the weather witch around and face her.
Rogue and Jubilee were knocked to the ground by the sudden gale force wind. The heavy materials for building the Greenhouse rolled on the ground like tumbleweed. Rogue screamed when she became airborne. Logan grabbed her when she flew by him and his claws slammed into the ground. Warren held Jubilee down on the ground as the force increased.
The cars on the streets began sliding in directions they were not trying to go. Horns and screaming filled the air.
Scott and Gambit began destroying the huge trees and road signs heading in their directions. Scott looked over to where Jean should have been.
“Oh my god, Logan it’s Jean.” Scott tried to yell over the deafening sound of the wind and shattering trees.
Logan made his way to Scott and gave him Rogue. “You got to stop her.”
Gambit was clinging to a tree. He looked up at see a mass of blackness with all sorts of things he didn’t want to know about.
Scott and Logan looked up to see it coming. “Hurry Logan” Scott screamed as his feet were lifted from the ground along with Rogue’s. He held her to the tree outside the metal structure of the Greenhouse with his body.
The wolverine used his claws to get across the grounds. Screaming from his teammates and the coming blackness made him drive himself harder to get to Ororo.
Logan was slammed through the door as the blackness reached the Mansion grounds.
Jean held Ororo suspended from the ground with her mind. Things in the hallway began to tremble and shake as the ground did also from the force the Weather Witch had called into existence.
Jean released her but Ororo was still floating in the air her eyes white and there was anger on her face.
< Ororo >
The professor sat in his office in front of the large window watching the annihilation outside. He closed his eyes to concentrate more on Ororo.
< Ororo>
Jean was thrown against the wall. Hank screamed at Jean to take his hand as he gripped the wall beside her.
< Ororo Stop before it’s too late. >
Jean reached for Hank as Ororo rose higher from the ground everything was shaking now.
Logan was thrown down the hallway by the wind. He rolled past Jean and Hank and used all his strength to launch himself into the air and wrap his arms around Ororo.
They did not drop to the ground as he would have liked.
“Ro stop it yer killin’ them outside.”
Ororo looked at him for the first time and closed her eyes and calmed the rage inside.
Everything began to calm down and the blackness outside disappeared.
Ororo floated back down to the ground with Logan.
Hank released Jean and she ran down the hall.
Two hours after the incident Xavier called on the team to help save some people from a burning factory that cerebro had located and that rescue personnel would be too late.
< The factory has over fifty people Scott and the fires are out of control. >
Scott nodded and looked at his team of Ororo, Logan, Gambit, Hank and Bobby.
“There are over fifty people inside and the fire is out of control. Ororo you take care of the big fires, Bobby the others. The rest of us are going to save the people”
That is way it was suppose to have worked out but when the building exploded with Scott in the others in it. It didn’t end that way.
“We are loosing him Hank.” Jean said ripping open another package of gauze to wipe up the blood so she could sew up another cut.
Hank closed the vein spewing the life blood and his vitals came back to normal after a while.
Those outside could only wait.
“I should have gone inside.” Bobby said holding his head in his hands.
“Ya couldn’t hav’ stopped the explosion kid.” Logan squatted before him. “He’ll be alright.
Gambit held Ororo. “Gambit say he be fine chère.”
Ororo buried her face in Gambit’s chest and it began to rain outside.
Three weeks later.
Ororo sat beside Scott’s bed watching him sleep. He had been in a coma for three weeks now. While his body had healed his mind was in a haze.
Xavier said it was a delicate process and it could take weeks for him to recover.
Ororo ran her hand over his cheek. Jean walked into the room and stopped and watched Ororo pull her hand back and cry.
Jean walked up behind her and gently put her arms around her. Ororo did not pull away from her.
After Ororo had left Jean sat down on Scott’s bed and looked down at him.
“Scott I love you and I always will.” She pulled from her pocket a hypodermic filled with a drug to make it easy for her to manipulate Scott’s memories and the Professor could not detect. She had been giving it to him the first week of his coma and little by little changing his memories of them to happiness and removing the ones of Ororo.
Scott slowly opened his eyes four days later to a room full of smiling faces. Hank was the one that had informed everyone that Scott was waking up. The Lab was flooded with teachers and students to be the first thing Scott saw when he woke. Xavier stressed that his mind was still fragile and that he would be weak.
Jean stood down towards the end of the bed beside Jubilee. She hoped it had worked and Scott only knew her. She would act the bewildered part but inside she would jump for joy if and only if Scott was hers again.
Scott smiled at Logan when he saw his crooked grin. “What no smoking in here?”
There was chuckling.
“Been keepin’ yer girl sane while ya been nappin’”
Ororo smiled at Logan. “It’s been more like driving me insane.” Scott smiled.
Hank chuckled. “How do you feel?”
Scott closed his eyes for a second then opened them. “I would feel so much better if I could get out of this bed and hold Jean in my arms again.
