Stranger than Fiction

"It smells Like an army of dirty ass down here..Damn I bet Logan is glad he didn't have to come down here after all"

Matthew said holding his nose as where Hank and Kurt. Kurt had gotten sick once while down in the sewers and was looking very ill

"This is the last time I let you talk me into going on a mission with you Matthew." Kurt said

"Hey Look man it was either this or wait around for Magneto to do what ever the hell it is he has planned. Now stop bitching and come on before the gators get you."

"Alligators??!!" Kurt gasped

"No, Kurt there are not any Alligators in the sewers...Matthew stop trying to frighten Kurt." Hank said

"Yes Father" Matthew said with a grin

"Oh great I think I just stepped in rat droppings..yes it appears I did. We should hurry we could all get very ill if we stay down here any longer."

"Oh just admit it Hank you are about to throw up yourself. I am fighting the urge to myself at the moment."

"I think I see something up ahead look." Kurt said pointing infront of them

There was a small beam of light coming through a crack in a wall ahead of them.


"Someone is coming" A tall white skinned mutant said

"Who is coming Caliban?'"A woman asked She was tall slender with short black hair and a patch over one eye

"Three mutants, one teleporter, one feral,one........I can't tell what they are (1)" Caliban said with a confused look on his face

"What do you mean you can't tell? Are they blocking you?"

"No, it is not that...I am getting some strange energy from the last one I can't tell what he is..He feels feral but there is something else there as well. Something different.. I can't place it ...... They have found the secret entrance"

"Do you think they are a threat?"

"No, Calisto If they wanted to hurt us they would have broken through by now...."

a muffled voice was heard followed by a banging noise

"HEY ANY ONE IN THERE?! CALISTO?! CALIBAN?! ANYONE?! HEY WE COME IN PEACE LET US IN! COME ON IT FUCKING STINKS OUT HERE!"

"Who was that? How do they know our names?" Calisto asked looked a bit freaked

"That was the one I can't place.." Caliban said looking in the direction of the voice

"GODAMN IT OPEN UP BEFORE I BREAK THIS THING DOWN!!! I KNOW YOU ARE THERE I CAN HERE YOU TALKING!!!"

Matthew was screaming and banging on the wall. Not enough to break it down but enough to be noticed

"Matthew are you crazy? Stop before we get attacked!" Kurt yelled while putting his hand on Matthew's arm

"Kurt shut up if they where going to attack We already would have been by now"

The wall slide open and a tall green mutant with large black eyes walked out

"You may enter the others have to wait out here" The Mutant said

"See told you to trust me! Now just wait here this might take a while"

Matthew walked past the mutant and into a large Chamber. It was an old abandoned subway station. It had been redone into a living chambers of sorts. Mutants of all shapes and sizes where all over the place. Matthew saw Calisto hiding in the shadows on the far end of the station watching him

"I can see you Calisto you can come out I ain't here for a fight I just need Caliban's Help."

Caliban Walked out from a group of mutants up to Matthew

"What is it you need me for? And why should i even help you"

"First of all you should help me because it's a nice thing to do second I need you to find someone for me..Well for us..The X-Men."

"So you are with Xavier's child army" Calisto said walking up to Matthew scanning him with her one eye

"We ain't no army Calisto...Just a team .." Matthew said

"Who do you need me to find.....what did you say your name was?"

"My Names Matthew ...I need you to help me find a mutant that calls herself Destiny..Xavier couldn't find her with Cerebro but he is sure she is still in town watching over someone"

"What kind of Power does she have?" Caliban asked

"She can see the future.....why the hell you two looking at me like that?"

"What kind of mutant are you?I can tell your are at least some what of a feral by the way you look but I feel something else that is confusing me"

Caliban asked looking over Matthew from head to toe while walking around him

"Hey I don't know the answer to that myself..I am what the situation calls for ....If that is any kind of answer..Now stop looking at me like that your embarrassing me man."

"Not unless you tell us why you need me to find this person" Caliban said as he stopped and stared right into Matthew's eyes..He would not admit it but they creeped the hell out of him

"OK fine I'll tell you....We need to find this person because she might be the only one who can tell us What Magneto..and I am sure you know of him is planning. Whatever it is was bad enough for his right hand man to try and rat him out. Since Destiny can see the future I figured no one better to ask than her. There now you going to help or am I going to have to beg?" Matthew said

"If it involves that Madman Magneto We will help you...If you return the favor" Calisto said

"Sure whatever it you want..as long as it is legal any way" Matthew said

"The summer is almost over and it's going to get real cold real fast. We need blankets and heaters and lots of them. You promise to give us those things and we will help you." Calisto said

"That won't be a problem. I am sure the Professor would be happy to give you what you need. OK lets shake on it make it official"

Matthew said as he held out his clawed hand. Calisto shook it then gave Caliban a glance

"OK I will help you find this Destiny person. But I need to be above ground to be able to find her better. We Will leave at dark ."

"We can leave now. I figured you would say something like that so I brought this."

Matthew took out a holo device and handed it to Caliban

"Just put it on and press that button."

Caliban did as Matthew said. His appearance changed before everyone's eyes. Some gasps where heard. He was now tanned and had green eyes.

"OK Lets go...What? I said lets go we don't have all fucking day you know. We need to find Destiny as soon as possible."

"Why are you in such a Hurry to find this person anyway? If Magneto is planning something he could take weeks even months before he acts if he knows you are expecting it." Calisto said

"Look he has been trying to get his hands on someone I love from the moment I got into town and I am fucking sick of it. Whatever he has planned involves killing her, or he just wants to do that to putting the icing on the cake. I already lost enough of the people I care about and I ain't going to lose her. There I told you are you fucking happy now?

"I see now you just need our help to save someone you lust over" Calisto said looking angry

"Calisto You don't want to test me understand? I have already taken out half of Magneto's forces and I would hate to add a pretty lady such as yourself to that list because you made me lose my self control. Now Come On Caliban .......What you aint going to come now?"

"You are the one who took out his team?" Caliban asked

"YEAH why the hell do you ask? Didn't I just say I did" Matthew said looking more angry every second

"We had heard a new powerful Mutant had taken out Magneto's forces. I can't believe it was someone as young as you." Calisto said looking a little amazed

"Yeah That was me now are you still going to help or should I just leave? Because I don't really have the time to just be fucking around with you two and your twenty questions game."

"Caliban you can go with him now. Help him as best you can ." Calisto said

"Yes, I will be back as soon as I can be."

Matthew Walked off with Caliban. Walking out to the others who where looking more ill than they where the last time he saw them.

"I see things went well..Wait are you Caliban? Matthew he does not look like you described him." Hank said looking confused

"I gave him a holo so we could go looking as soon as possibale..Damn you two don't look to good lets get out of here before you puke all over the place." Matthew said curling his nose.

"That is a great idea come on Hank!" Kurt said while grabbing Hank's arm and trying to pull him

"No need to rush me Kurt I want to leave this place just as much as you do..I am going to have to shower for the rest of the night to get this smell out of my fur"

Everyone walked back to where Matthew and the others had snuck into the sewers.Mathew noticed Caliban looked Nervous

"Hey Caliban why you look so freaked?"Mathew asked with one hand on the ladder

"I never been out on the surface in the daylight"

"Look I gave you a holo Nothing is going to happen Caliban. Besides this leads to the road behind the Institute. No one uses it so you don't have to worry about being seen OK?"

"OK then, Do you want me to try and find Destiny now or later?"

"I know I seemed to be in a big rush but I think I can wait till I get out of these clothes and take a nice long shower. You can take off the holo when we get inside. No one will say anything about you I promise. If they do just let me know OK? Now come on I need to get out of here before I fucking throw up ."

"All right....." Caliban said as he climbed up the ladder after Matthew

"See no one around to see you now come on lets get inside. If you want you can use one of the extra Bathrooms to get cleaned up yourself. Just as the Professor for some fresh clothes."

"Why are you being so nice?"

"It's what I do. I act nice to people....unless they piss me off."

As every one walked inside they all ran, and walked in Caliban's case to their bathroom to get cleaned up.

"HEY MATTHEW !" Rogue yelled

"CAN'T TALK NOW SMELL LIKE ROTTEN SHIT GOTTA SHOWER LOVE YOU BYE!"
Matthew yelled while running by Rogue and kissing her on the cheek

Rogue still had on her uniform but was wearing a bathrobe over it. She was sweaty and looked out of breathe. She was sitting at the bar in the kitchen drinking a Gatorade

"Well, that was weird..phew what's that smell?" Rogue said curling her nose

"That would be us"Caliban said

"Who are you?" Rogue asked Caliban

"I am Caliban. And I am guessing you are the one Matthew came to me for.."

"But you don't look Like .."

Caliban turned off his holo

"OHHHHH Now you do. Yeah I am Rogue .. He really say he came to see you for me?"

"Yes,. He told our leader that the reason he needed our help was to stop Magneto's plan and that the woman he loved was in danger because of it. He became very Angry when our leader clamed he just lusted for you. She was just testing him though to see how he would react. He reacted the way any one would who was in love."

"Yeah He has a bad temper when people question his feelings or if they threaten me. He is very and I mean VERY protective of me."

"Was he protecting you when he took out Magneto's men?" Caliban asked as he sat down infront of Rogue

"Well, Yeah, I mean I could have fought them myself but he wouldn't let me. Normally something like that pisses me off But it was different with him."

"Because he loved you and was not doing it just because you are a woman correct?"

"Yeah I guess.....Why the hell am I telling you this shit?"

"Because I am a good listener...Plus I find people like to talk to complete strangers about the most personal things sometimes...I noticed he has a scar on his chest. I saw it through his shirt when it got wet in the sewer. How did he get that? Did he tell you?

"He got it protecting me...We where at a concert and I was hurt when One Of Magneto's boy's try to kidnap me and Matt went all Dracula on the guy who did it but not before the guy broke his ribs and made his lung collapse. He fought through the pain though and took out the rest of the group that came to get me. He almost died from that."

"Well, at least you know he loves you enough to risk his life to protect you. You don't know how lucky you are. Not many people are truly willing to die for someone they love.......He is. Never lose Him child..fight for him to stay with you no Matter what because a person like that is a rare thing to find in these times. It is a true gift from God.....if you believe in such things"

"I am from the deep south it is required by law that I do believe........Though to be honest I have not had a lot of faith in things till Matt showed up. I never had a reason to till then."

"Why didn't you have faith?"

"Well, everyone here has a power that makes them better..Mine was a curse. I can't ever have skin to skin contact or I could kill someone..If I do that their memories could get trapped in my head and might never come out.."

"How did he change that?"

"He can block my powers when we touch..I think he can block others too. From what Wanda said ....She was one of the bad guys at the concert They couldn't use their powers against him. But he only did something like that once. Now all he can do is block my powers from hurting him"

"I know what kind of powers you Have Rogue..that's my gift I can find any mutant and tell what power they have...though I can't With Matthew....Which is really confusing since no one has ever blocked me before."

"Well, Matthew has really weird abilities so don't feel to bad about it. He only knows of a hand full of them right now But Hank....he was the big blue hairy guy..not the short blue hairy guy..Says he could have more now We don't know about or could get more in the future. Most of the ones he has gotten have not lasted long though.....Well Nice talking to you But I have to go take a shower myself I just finished my training for the day and I am very stinky myself."

"OK then goodbye Rogue. I would say see you later but this is probably going to be the only time I come here." Caliban said with the same blank expression he had on his face through their whole conversation

"Yeah OK Goodbye " Rogue said as she walked out of the kitchen and headed for her room

Caliban was still sitting in the kitchen thinking to himself

*I can see why he wants to stop Magneto. If I had someone that beautiful to care for I would fight off an army to keep them safe....Maybe I should Finally tell Calisto how I feel about her..No she could never love someone like me...What am I talking about Matthew is even more mutated than i am and he has a beautiful woman who loves him maybe i have a chance after all...*

1. OK I know in the comic's Caliban is kind of dumb I don't know if the same is true for the show but in my story he is smart..Also I know he has all kinds of weird powers but here he can only find mutants.
