Stranger than Fiction

Visiting hours were just moments away on Muir Islands Hospital. Matthew was sitting up in his bed. His feet hanging over the end as his body had grown at least four more inches since the time he had arrived. His hospital gown seemed to be bursting at every angle with his muscular form. The low hum of music heard from the headset that was thundering Korn's music in his ears. Logan had snuck the CD and headset into the hospital for Matthew along with a few snacks. Matthew had finally managed to ask why Logan was being so nice after all that had went down. His answer seemed simple enough but Matthew could read between the lines. Logan simply said

"You saved Rogue from those goons. This is my way of saying .. well I just figured it would be the thing to do." Logan said before he quickly changed the subject.

As the music played in his ear Matthew picked up a small mirror he had found and looked at himself. His Dark eyes staring back like two bottomless pits. The black energy that escaped from their depths causing his eyes to Be encased in a permanent shadow. Something one of the doctors pointed out When testing him for pupil response when he came in unconscious. The light from his pen seemed to be swolled whole when beamed directly into Mathew's open eyes.

*Godamn my eyes look scary as hell. If I ain't the poster child for did my time(1) I don't know what is. I look like Kain for fucks sake ... I hope Marie doesn't freak out Like that nurse did .. I can't believe she fucking fainted. What do I expect probably never seen anything like me before.

The nurse of which he thought was a trainee. Her first day on the job. A mutant sympathizer rather than a mutant herself. She had went to Matthew's room to bring him his breakfast. The Shock Of a near seven foot tall gray mutant with claws, fangs, and what looked like bottomless pits for eyes causing her to drop right on the spot.

"I got to think of a cool Codename .. Maybe Janos(2) or something like that" Matthew thought before opening his mouth to look at his teeth.

"Damn look at my teeth. I swear if I bit my tongue with these fucking things again I am ripping em right out my damn self. Knowing my luck they would grow back bigger and sharper."

He thought to himself as he gazed at his new fangs. Their sharp points having already cut into his lips and tongue several times as he was still getting used to working around them. Their long sharp points easily seen when he spoke or smiled.
Hank joking with Matthew the first time he had a good look at them when Matthew laughed at one of his jokes that he should call himself Dracula or Vlad as a codename.

"Damn my Claws are hard as fucking steel now. I better be careful when my balls itch or I am going to rip em off..that would suck...."

Matthew thought as he looked at his claws. They were not very long but had a sharp curve at the end of their stark white length that could do a good amount of damage as evident by the countless stitches it took to close up Blob's many facil lasurations. Matthew had asked for them to be trimmed but everything they tried resulted in said clippers or other devices to be ruined and his claws seeming to become stronger aftwards.

"God I hope Marie gets here soon. It's only been five days and I am going crazy. Why the hell do I care so much about her. Shit I haven't even known her that long..Well the real her anyway...."

Thoughts of Rogue came flowing into his mind like a floodgate had burst open. Sure it had only been close to three weeks since he had arrived in this world But he couldn't go more than five minutes without thinking of Rogue and that was when he tried. She had called him ever Chance She got. They Would talk for hours About almost nothing at all but they still managed to stay on the phone with each other for hours on end. Matthew had even managed to Cause Rogue to laugh so hard about a story involving a family member a slippery step and a big tray of lemonade that she had water running from her eyes. She said it was the best laugh she had in her life. SOmething Matthew didn't find to hard to believe.

"Godamn these staples itch like a motherfucker..."

Matthew though trying as hard as he could to fight the urge to rip of the dressings of his stitches and clawing at it like it was covered in poison ivy. The stitches ran from his collar bone to his lower abdomen. He was told the reason the incision was so large was because they had such trouble puncturing his muscle tissue and ribcage that when they did manage to get through the incision area had grown to what it was now.

"I am starving where the fuck is my dinner....That chick said she would be right back with it. That was like a fucking hour ago. Godamn trainee eh fuck it. It hurts like hell to swallow any damn way*

"Um Si..si..sir there is a young lady here to see you.."

The nurse said as she came into Matthew's line of site. It was the same one that had fainted when she first saw him. She was doing her best not to look at him as she turned to someone and gestured for them to enter. The distinct sound of combat boots and leather clothing wrinkling as it moves alerting Matthew as to who it was. As was the faint sent of Jasmine shampoo as the person in question walked towards the door and entered. It was Rogue. In her classic green and black outfit. Her makeup and hair picture perfect. The necklace he had bought her proudly around her neck replacing her dogcollar. In her small and now gloveless hand's was a gift wrapped in black wrapping paper tied off with a red bow. She looked in Matthew's Direction with a smile until she saw his face that is. Then Her eyes nearly popped out of her head and she blurted out.

"Holy shit Matt ya look like a vampire! Oh I'm sorry !" Rogue said then Looked away ashamed. her pale cheecks flush with color as her embaresment rushed over her like a cold artic wind.

*stupid stupid stupid!!! Why the fuck did I say that?.. Oh shit I hope he doesn't think I think He's ugly .. I mean damn he still looks the same just has spooky .. and really fucking cool looking eyes." Rogue thought after her outburst

"Hey that wasn't Very nice you know..I already scared half the damn nurses here. You would think people who work around Mutants all day would be use to seeing something like me."Matthew Said Looking at the box in Rogue's hand.

She looked like she was having a little trouble holding at as it she seemed to be lowering her grip on it as it went from chest level to naval level in just a few moment.

"You better put that down before you drop it ...Do I look bad? I mean Really I look like some big ass alien vampire or something." Matthew said with a frown.

"No, you look GOOD. I think it's sexy..Always wanted me a talk dark and might i add drop dead handsome boyfriend ."Rogue said with a little grin as she reached down and Kissed Matthew full on her tongue curling around his fangs and brushing over his own tongue before she drew away.

"Hey what was that for?" He asked looking a little surprised

"I missed you.....Oh here!"Rogue handed him the box with a smile on her face.

"What's this....."

Matthew asked as he ripped into the box with his claws. Which took about five seconds to do before the box now lay sans the wrapping it was in and the tape underneath sliced off as well. Rogue's eyes nearly popped out of her head again when she seen his claws.

*Damn these things come in handy. She is looking at my hands like she did my face.. Must not have noticed these yet * Matthew thought when he seen Rogue expression.

"Yeah I got myself nice big scary nails now. The Professor said When I snapped my powers reacted to my anger and just kind of picked out what would be threatening from my mind...I knew reading Anne Rice was going to cause trouble down the road one day. Oh sweet THANKS MARIE!" He pulled out a new leather trenchcoat Like the one he had worn to the concert but it looked more expensive.

"Yeah We all pitched in to get it for you..The girls anyway. Your other one was torn to pieces When you got into the fight. Plus it smelt like rotten blood. I knew you really liked it to so we got you a better one this time. Forge put some kind of junk in it to keep it from getting ripped if you wanna wear it with your uniform. Said it was unstable molecules or something like that I dunno. Oh speaking of which when you get back you need to get fitting for you uniform."She said as she pulled up a chair and sat next o Matthew

"Yeah I forgot about that....Hows your shoulder?" Matthew asked when Rogue winced a ligght as she sat down.

"Its better. I snuck and tapped Logan a few times on the way here so it doesn't hurt that much anymore.." Rogue said rubbing her shoulder.

"You what? How the hell didn't he notice?" Matthew asked looking a little surprised.

"Eh I am just a sneaky little girl. I think he noticed but just kind of ignored it. He looked a little tired when we got here so I better lay off him for a while." She said with a one shoulder shrug.

"Oh you mean Like that time you touched Kitty so you could dance right." Matthew said as he refolded his coat and but it back in the box.

"How did you...Oh yeah I keep forgetting about that..yeah something like when I did that." Rogue said finding her eyes locked on his.

"You are so evil"He said

"That's why you love me though"She said smiling

"Yeah that's true. Hey um Did you go see Todd?"

"Why would I go see him for?" Rogue said turning her head to the side and raising a brow

"Because he seemed worried about you for some weird ass reason from What I heard Logan saying..I think he still has a little crush on you..He was all like" THE FUCK DID BLOB DO TO ROGUE?!"Matthew said in his best Todd voice

"I don't think he knew what Magneto was up to. Then again I don't think anyone But Remy knew for sure."Matthew said

"Yeah he used to have this Huge Crush on me when I lived with them. Then again so did the other guys there...I must be real hot or something..I never seen it but everyone else says I am." She said shrugging her good shoulder

"Hell yeah your hot..I never understood that. Most of the pretty girls I have met all thing they are ugly and all the ugly girls think they are hot..Its a great mystery of the universe. So what did Todd do with this little crush of his?" Matthew asked Raising a brow

"Well he asked me on a date a few times. I was not really into him like that and I told him and he got all sad and depressed for like a week. I felt bad about it later so I said I would be friends with him if he stopped acting like a baby about it. Then I joined the X-Men and he would always make sure he didn't have to fight with me..I am glade no body noticed that he could have got in big trouble for something like that. I mean yeah he fought me when he had to but I could tell he was taking it easy on me. Then Wanda showed up and he went all doe eyed and She went for it for some reason. She has come here to see him almost every day he has been here. When she is not having one of her "I will kill my father" episodes."Rogue said then took in a deep breath when she finished

"Yeah I heard she is staying at the institute now. God I hope she doesn't go all Witchy on me when I get back." Matthew said with a worried look

"She said she wouldn't. Though I really don't trust her but she seems to be getting along a little better with everyone now. The Professor had a talk with her and she just kind of started talking to us more and everything. I think he threatened to throw her out or something. Well, that's What Jubilee said he did..But forget that that's not why I am here I just want to talk about anything but whats going on at the mansion." Rogue said Leaning back in her chair and resting her feet on the rail of Matthew's bed.

"Sure Marie what is it? You wanna ask me something? Just ask away I got no secrets "Matthew said

"Oh, OK you said you read Anne Rice. what books? Me I read everything of hers i could find." Rogue said

"Oh my cousin Went into this whole crazy trip about her Books when I bought The Vampire Armand (3). Next thing I know She has the whole damn V.C. set and forces me to read em.. I got up to the body thief when I lost interest .... But I was going to read em again before I got here..... On a side note....Damn Did that Queen of the damned (4)movie suck! I could rant for hours how much I hate and want to murder everyone who let it be made "Matthew said with a look of discust.

"Yeah same for me. Speaking of Vampires Jamie wanted me to ask you if you want to play his new game with him when you get back."Rogue said smiling as Matthew caressed her leg.

"Uhh OK.....What is it?" Matthew asked.

"Its one of the Legacy of Kain games I play with him sometimes. I think its Soul Reaver two I been wanting to get it forever myself but I never got around to it." Rogue said.

"Hell yeah That's cool. I love those games.. I had all of them back home..Wait you play video games?" Matthew said With a small smirk

"Yeah what a girl can't play video games?" Rogue said raising her brow.

"No. I mean yeah I just didn't think you were into that kind of stuff." Matthew said with a shrug

"I am not really .. Just I got one of them as a gift for Christmas and I got bored and played it..I got hooked after that .. Their the only ones I play though..I suck at everything else....Now that I think about it you kinda look Like Kain (5)Matt." She said with a slight grin

"You noticed that too? Yeah now I m a big gothic Kain look alike. Even got the scar !"He said Jokingly pointing to his bandages

Rogue laughed herself then stopped when Matthew's face become more serious.

"Is something wrong Matt?" Rogue asked

"Well, I been wanting to talk about something with you since the concert but never thought it was a good time to on the phone. But I think now is as good a time as any." Matthew said with the same serious look on his face.

"Yeah Sure what is it Matt?"She asked with a little hesitation in her voice. She leaned forward in her chair returning to a normal sitting position

"It's just well. I mean. Do you think we should be together? I mean Don't get me wrong I love you very much and I know you love me but we haven't known each other for more than Three weeks. I been thinking a lot about this and I want to make sure this is right. We are right..The last thing I want to do is hurt you and I need to know if you feel the same way I do..That this is RIGHT that we didn't move into this relationship to fast..I don't know because this is the first time it has happened to me and I am afraid it won't work and I'll end up hurting you .... I couldn't live with myself if I hurt you Marie and I am afraid I will. So what do you think. About us, about all this."

Rogue was quite for a moment...A little longer than Matthew would have liked before she spoke. Her expression seemed to crumble from a Happy teenage woman to a sad hurt little girl. her cheeks grew red as did her eyes and her breathing seemed to deepen asif she was about to cry her heart out.

"Are .. are you asking to break up with me?"She asked sounded sad her voice so low Matthew had trouble hearing her.

"GOD I WOULD NEVER DO THAT! Oh my God it did sound like I was didn't it? I am sorry Marie....I just wanted to know you didn't feel this all happened to fast. "Could you two please keep it down you are disturbing the other patients." A nurse said. She was short green skinned and had orange hair

Matthew and Rogue said at the same time.Mathew's voice sounding demonic and Rogue's sometimes hard to notice southern accent kicking in full force. The Nurse turned up her nose and stomped off. The couple looked at each other for a moment and started to laugh.

"OK OK Matthew To answer your question No I don't think we moved to fast .. I think ... no I know we moved at the right speed. This is your first relationship and mine to well technically anyway...So I guess it is normal for us to feel we rushed into things. But as long as you don't ask me to Marry you anytime soon I am OK with it."She said

"Damn I better tell Scott to take the ring back then.."He said with a smile

Eight hours and four threats of bodily harm later The sun slowly rose filling Matthew's Room with its redish orange morning light.. Matthew Woke finding Rogue's hand in a very interesting place. "Calm down Rogue. No body woke you two little love crows cause I didn't let em. You two need to get up though its time to start getting Matthew ready for the trip home. Hank just called and said he was on his way. So come on Rogue lets go to the waiting room till he gets here." Logan said while drinking his tenth cup of coffee

"Oh come on Logan can't I stay here with Matt till hank gets here? Please?" Rogue said giving Logan her best sad puppy dog expression she could muster at such early an hour.

"OK Fine just stop looking at me like that...Geez...." Logan Said yawning. He turned around and walked off. His heavy steps heard going down the hall with the click of his boots. Rogue smiled and to Matthew's Surprise giggled as well before turning back around with a mischievous smile before she leaned in and kissed Matthew. She qucikly pulled away and curled her nose

"Fhew boy you got morning breath bad !" She said faning the air

"HEY!" he said smiling

"Let me get you some toothpaste."Rogue Said jumping off the bed and going into the bathroom.

"You seem happy this morning! "He said as she walked out of the bathroom with a cup of water,a tooth brush ,and toothpaste.

I went a month without being able to watch the TV in the rec room. "But you have a TV in your room don't you?" Matthew asked looking slightly confused

"Yeah I do now but I was still Sharing a Room with Kitty then and she was watching some fucking soap marathon on Soapnet. I had to download it off the net and I only got to watch some shitty copy ." She said curling her nose.

"I love Buffy and Angel. I got all pissed because The Doc made me take out the trash in the middle of the last ep. I didn't let him hear the end of it for a month...needless to say he left me alone when I was watching TV after that. That reminds me you haven't really asked me about the cartoon much ."He said

"I don't think I want to. I was probably the most hated character on there." Rogue said witha slight frown.

"Hell No! There are a shitload of fan sites and all kinds of stuff about you online !" he practically yelled

"REALLY? Like what?"She asked now smiling brightly

"Oh a bunch of stuff like art and stories and cosplay..that means costume play..Its where people dress up like a character they like and go to parties conventions....and make porn...." Matthew said with a " shouldn't have said that" Look on his face

Rogue raised her brow

"Did they make any about me?"She asked

"Uh..not that I saw......."he answered

"All kinds of stories Action stories love stories drama's things like that. I read a few of every kind .. some were good the rest pretty much sucked though." Matthew said.

"What kind of stories did you read about me?" Rogue asked tilting her head to the side witha slight smile.

"Godamn obsessed aren't you" She said very surprised

"Nah..But I read this one story that made me all depressed and shit for some reason..It was fucking GOOD though(7)..well I didn't as much read it as skim over it..Ok I read the second and last page and got depressed as hell." Matthew said frowning.

"Why what was wrong with it" Rogue asked

"Nothing was wrong with it. It was just real sad..See you where killed by some vamp and...... I don't want to talk about it. Thinking about it now That I know you just pisses me off." Matthew said

He now had a strange look on his face. One that would have been hard to know if Rogue hadn't seen it many times before since she came to live with Xavier and the others.. She reached out her hand and moved the hair from his face leaning in and Kissed him softly. He opened his Mouth and she slid in her tongue He wrapped his Tongue around hers. Matthew Placed one of his hands on Rogue's hip his fingers caressing her skin through her mesh shirt. After their Kiss Rogue drew away and just staired at him. When she finally spoke she had a very serious look on her face.

"Listen Sugar(8), I told you you don't have to worry about Me dying on you, OK? I'm Young and I ain't planning on dying for at least another 80 years. Unless I drain some Immortal being between then ...."She said jokingly

"I know a couple we could talk to about that."He said

The blackbird jetted through the midmorning sky. Matthew lay in the back in a deep medicated slumber. Rogue lay next to him her arms wrapped around his neck. Her beautiful green eyes watching his face as he slept. Her shoulder had fully healed over night. Logan Only looked at her and shooking his head when he noticed her shoulder was healed..His way of saying he didn't mind what she did.

"How is he doing? Sleeping well I hope" Beast Whispered as he walked into view

"Yeah he is out like a light.....Thanks for letting me stay back here with him."She whispered

"No need to thank me. Logan tells me you took it upon yourself to speed up your recovery time." He said with a grin on his face

"Yeah I'm sorry I just got sick of not being able to move my arm....or breath..or any damn think without feeling Like I had a knife sticking in me. I ain't in trouble am I?" She asked with a sheepish look.

"I won't tell If you won't." He said with a wink

"Thanks." She said

Suddenly Matthew shifted in his sleep. His face went from peaceful to enraged. Even with his eyes closed the energy seeped through his eyelids. His slumbering growl breaking away to words.

"You can't have her Erik.....I'll kill you if you touch her.......I want to stay..I love her.......don't take me back please....You will have to kill me before you take her from me......."

Hank's smile quickly broke away to one of seriousness as he listened to Matthew's words. Rogue herself quickly Jumped off the bed When Matthew's hands clenched into fist and went flying to close to her face for comfort.

"I don't wanna get hit with a stray fist .. What the hell is he dreaming about anyway? Who is EriK?"She said as she jumped up.

"That's Magneto's real name....It seems he is dreaming about fighting Magneto..And About being forced to return to his world without you." Hank responded.

"Does that mean he thinks he might have to go home one day? " She asked with a slightly said expression.

"Yes it would seem So. must know if he has to go back you cannot go with him. He survived the Journey between worlds because of some freak cosmic accident. I highly doubt you or anyone else would be able to do the same. If I were in his shoes the thought of such a thing would terrify me...To know I did not belong here..to love someone I should never have met..To know if I were forced to go back I would never see them again. It's a horrible fate he may very well have to deal with one day. I think the best we can do is try to get his mind off such things as quickly as possible. The Less time he thinks about it the better."Beast said

"I can do that....What? I don't mean like that you damn perv."Rogue said shaking her head and rolling her eyes when Hank smirked.


"Hey I hear big tall and scary is back."Bobby said as he walked into the kitchen. Picking up a warm soda before freezing it

"You must be very popular at parties."Wanda said over her cup of green tea

"Yeah you could say that..So any luck finding your old man?" He asked siting down in front of her.

"I am not going to tell you anything. Please leave me alone "She said not even looking up from her cup

"Yeah sure whatever.. I am just trying to be nice you know..its not like I am trying to get you to shag me or anything," *yes it is." He thought

"What the hell does shag mean?"She asked Finally looking up from her cup

"Damn where the hell you been?"he asked sounding a little shocked

"If you must know I am with TODD because he loves me..he is probably the only one in my life who does...." She said leaning back in her chair and crossing her arms.

"Do you love him?" He asked with a raised brow.

"I guess..I don't know..I like him sure .. I still liked him after Mastermind fucked my mind like he did..I still do now. I don't know what love feels like really ....."She said

"Well, Love is really weird..Some people feel all warm inside when they love someone. When they think of that person they can't help but smile ....Well that's what I hear anyway." Bobby said looking away from Wanda as he spoke and off into the distance of the room around him.

"You love Amara don't you?"Wanda asked sipping her tea

"I thought I did..Course she thinks I just want to be friends and when I told her how I felt she just laughed at me thinking it was some joke.." Bobby said frowning.

"She will come around. Just wait a while and tell her again. Only this time make sure she knows you mean it. Now excuse me I have someone to go see."

Wanda said before getting up from her seat and putting her cup in the sink. As she walked towards the door she paused for a minute in the doorway and then turned to Bobby.

"if you tell anyone we had this talk I'll kill you. Goodnight" She said before walking out of view.

"That was pretty fucking weird..did she just give me relationship advice?"Bobby said out loud before he finished his soda and went back to his room.


"I was wondering when you would get around to coming to see me Wanda. So you here to kill me...well try to kill me or you here to talk?"Matthew Asked as Wanda walked into the med. lab

"I am not going to kill you....I just want to know why you helped me..I am not a member of your team and I am sure we have never met before so it couldn't have been out of friendship."

Wanda said as she entered the infirmary. She walked to the end of his bed and rested her back against the wall. She crossed her arms as she stared Matthew down. It was a vain attempt to hide the fact she found his appearance unnerving. Not to mention what she had seen him do to her friends and teammates just a short time ago would haunt her for the rest of her life.

"You know why I helped you. But if you want me to tell you fine I will. I hate Magneto for what he has tried to do to Marie. For what he has done in his personal war with the humans. But everything he has done pales in comparison to what he did to you. You are is Daughter. yet he treated you like you where nothing. He robbed you of a normal childhood. Just as he was robbed of one. If you think I am going to go into a big speech about how you are better than Him and you have to forgive him I am not. I understand why you hate him know you will Kill him when you find him, I am not going to try and stop you" Matthew said. His southern boy demeanor falling away as he spoke.

"What?!"She said

"You heard me Wanda. What he did is unforgivable. This War he is wagging is pointless. It was over before the first mutant was ever born. I know the future of mutantkind Wanda... Within four generations every human on the planet will be a mutant. It is easy to see that without the insight I have. More Mutants are born every day While the normal humans' birthrate drops just as quickly. So all the people that will die in this War your Father wants will be for nothing." Matthew responded.

*damn I sound all kinds of stupid. I hope she bought it*Matthew thought as he spoke. He meant what he said and was doing his best to act serious but felt stupid while doing so.

"How do you know all this? Who are you?" *She bought it*
