Maybe next time…

“They’ve been in there for two
hours. What’s going on?” Kurt was pacing back and forth before the
door to the Danger Room, alternately chewing his lip and twisting his tail in
his hands. Beast had taken Jubilee to
the infirmary soon after Kitty arrived; Storm ordered the group, minus Kurt,
into the Danger Room. ‘It’s sound
proof’ she told them. Their yelling
apparently could be heard all the way to her greenhouse.

“I won’t tell you to calm down,
Kurt, but try and stay still.” Jean had
joined him after the first hour. The X
Men had trickled in during the early stages of the Pryde debacle and had taken
turns checking on Kurt. Remy and Rogue
were the only one who had not returned yet.

“I can’t! When I am upset, I have to keep moving.” Kurt had reached the end of his circuit and
was about to start over again when the door to the Danger Room slid open with a
sibilant hiss. The Prydes elder trooped
out, grim faced and looking the worse for emotional wear. Kitty remained behind—Kurt could see her
sitting on the floor under the giant window to the control room.

“I don’t know what you’ve done to
her, mutie, but I swear to God that you’ll hang from the highest gallows
if I ever get my hands on you!” Mr.
Pryde’s face was bare inches from Kurt’s, spittle flying from the corners of
his mouth. Kurt stiffened, fought the e toe to bare his fangs at the man. Jean’s
voice filled his mind—Don’t do it Kurt.
Whatever you do, don’t lash out. She sounded so desperate that he complied and merely stood before
Kitty’s father, his eyes betraying his fear.

“Can’t get your hands on ‘em if you
haven’t got hands, can ya bub?” The shink
of metal claws unsheathing made Mr. Pryde turn slowly away from Kurt. The blue mutant had never been so glad to
see Logan since this whole thing started.
“Why don’t you get your sorry asses out of here before I get a court
order preventing you from coming within one hundred yards of my ward.” Logan kept his hands by his side but Mrs.
Pryde began screaming bloody murder, that he was threatening them with
knives. “Can’t you shut her up?”

Kitty scrambled out of the Danger
Room, her eyes red from crying. “Stop
screaming! Stop it!” She took hold of
her mother’s shoulders and was shaking her, panicking. “Damn it!
Someone get Dr. McCoy. She’ll
keep doing this until she gets knocked out! She’s prone to hysteria!” Jean sent a strong mental request to the
doctor, not sure what else she could do.
Kitty had stopped shaking her mother and was trying to talk to her,
using a soothing voice. “It’s okay, no
one’s going to hurt you… Logan, please put those away!” Logan complied, moving between Kurt and Mr.
Pryde. Mrs. Pryde’s voice was growing
hoarse but she was still screaming when Hank arrived.

“Hmmm. Hold still, please.” He
expertly slid the small needle into her vein and within moments, she was
slumping drowsily forward. “I think
this is the most I’ve used my medidegrdegree in one day since…well, since
medical school.” He cast his eyes over
to Logan and Kurt. Kitty was hanging on
to both of them, sobbing quietly into Kurt’s shoulder with her arm around
Logan’s neck. “Would someone mind telling
me what’s going on he

“I was just wondering that
myself.” Charles Xavier rolled into
view.

Logan did not even turn around. “Oh, goody. The gang’s all here…”

“Just to review. Kitty, you have an agreement with your
parents. Is that correct?” The Prydes had been sent off, courtesy of
Logan, soon after the Professor arrived.
Now Kitty sat with the Professor, Logan and Kurt in the Professor’s
favorite study, chewing on her thumbnail and sniffling every few minutes.

“Yes. I got them to promise get the lawsuit kept out of open court if
it comes down to it. And we’re supposed
to schedule a meeting with all the attorneys in a few weeks. They want to fight the change of
guardianship. I guess they changed
their minds for some reason.”

“They said it was because they
didn’t know how to explain it to everyone back in Chicago.” Kurt’s voice wavered with emotion—he was
desperate to take Kitty in his arms and comfort her but the way things were
going, that did not seem bloody likely.

“Somehow, I don’t think that’s
it.” Professor Xavier had picked up
some unsavory impressions from the Prydes when he first came into the
house—greed, anger, hate…

“Me either. My folks wouldn’t care. The family knows I’m a mutant and most of
them aren’t too thrilled with it. The
only people I can think of that would notice and care would be some friends of
the family. They would just tell them
something like I was at boarding school in Europe or something.” Kitty’s voice was flat and low, clearly
depressed. “I had to promise that I
could prove that Kurt and I weren’t sneaking around, sleeping together between
now and the meeting date and they said they’d consider getting the charges
dropped.”

Mein Gott. “Kitty, what do you mean?” Kurt’s hands were shaking. The idea of being legally prevented from
seeing Kitty, especially while they lived in the same house, was
unbearable. It was one thing to have
the Professor forbid it, but to have a court prevent it…

“I said that I would go off birth
control and they know I can’t use condoms—I’m allergic to latex. They also made me promise to have the
Professor monitor our…actions.”

“Well, we’re already trying to do
that. They trust the Professor,
then?” Logan rubbed a hand across his
mouth, anger still simmering below the surface.

“They don’t think he’s a
mutant.” Kitty smirked mirthlessly at
this.

“Well, then. That’s that. You are forbidden to be alone together, even at school. You will have a chaperone at all times and
report for nightly checks by Logan or myself.
You may also be subject to bed checks and if you’re found using your
powers to see each other, I will have to send one of you to stay in the
boathouse until this all blows over.”
The Professor did not seem to relish giving them this news but Kurt
still howled silently in anger.

“That’s it, then?” Kitty was crying again, her tears leaving
silver trails against her flushed skin.

“Katzchen…” Kurt’s hands clenched
uselessly at his sides.

“C’mon, kids. Up and out.
Half-pint, why don’t you go calm down?
Kurt…come with me.” At some
silent signal from the Professor, Logan led Kurt from the room, leaving Kitty
to go her own way. Logan led Kurt out
to the garage and motioned for him to sit.
“Here’s the thing, Elf. I may
not want you touching Kitty, but I know that she’s gonna be miserable
without you. What you need to do is
walk the straight and narrow until this all blows over. I know temptation so don’t think I have no
idea what you’re up against where Kitty is concerned. I’ve known women in my life that I’d walk through Hell and back
for. Gladly. Wearing a smile.” To prove his point, Logan bared his teeth in
a rather alarming grin.

“Ja, Herr Logan.” Kurt was only half listening, his eyes cast
down at his feet and his tail hanging limply.

Logan felt a sensation in the
region of his heart that was quickly becoming commonplace where the kids were
concerned. “Look. I’ll supervise a date
tonight if you want. Take her out
somewhere. Stay here. Whatever.
Just no hanky panky.”

“Can…can we hold hands? Can I kiss her?” Kurt was seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

“Hold hands, yes. Kissing…” Logan bit back a growl. “No tongue.”

The smile on Kurt’s face was so big
that Logan was sure his face would break.
“Danke, Herr Logan! I have to go
make plans!” Kurt bamfed out of
the garage, leaving Logan wondering just what he had done to make the Elf so
happy.

Remy and Rogue returned near
dinnertime, both looking disheveled.
The first thing Remy noticed was the smell of something soapy and vaguely
chemical. Rogue wrinkled her nose,
looking for the source of the odor.
“That’s na Ne Nearly enough to
put me off my feed… Oh, hey! Pizza.”
Rogue left Remy’s side and headed towards the white boxes on the coffee
table in the rec room. Remy smiled,
watching her walk away, before seeking out the source of the smell. After a moment, he found Jamie on his hands
and knees in the study, scrubbing at a brownish stain on the carpet.

“Wat’s all dis?”

“Oh. Jubilee bled on it.”
Jamie had been conscripted to clean up the drying stain after losing to
Rahne in rock-paper-scissors. “I think
she had a nosebleed.”

“Quoi?” Remy’s spine stiffened.

“I dunno. I came in from playing basketball with…well…myself…and Storm said
we’d have to clean up the mess.
Jubilee’s in the infirmary…”
Jamie had been very worried when he heard the Jubilee was hurt—she was
fun to play with, she understood him. Dr.
McCoy said she’d had an accident. I have those a lot. Maybe she ran into the door like I did when I first got
here. He wouldn’t lie to me, right? Jamie had hardly noticed when his multiples
disappeared as he scrubbed at the rug.
“Remy, do you think she’s okay?”
Jubilee is one of my only friends here. She can’t be too hurt!

“Sure she
is, Jamie… Jubilee, she a tough one,
oui?” Inside, Remy was screaming. His feelings for Jubilee were something
that he had not quite sorted out yet—was she a friend, a potential lover or
something more? “Say, why don’ you go
on and get some that pizza and let ol’ Remy finish up in here?”

“You
sure? I mean, I don’t want to get in
trouble with Miss Storm…” Tempted as he
was by the thought of pizza while it was still fresh, Jamie felt honor bound to
clean up Jubilee’s blood—after all, he was asked to and she was his friend. My sister…the one I was supposed to have…

“Let Remy
deal wit Storm, kay?” Remy took the
sponge from the boy’s hand and gave him a gentle shove out the door towards the
rec room. He fell to his task without
enthusiasm, shucking his trench coat onto the sofa, kneeling on the damp
carpet. Grimacing, he scrubbed until
Rogue interrupted him with a gentle nudge to his shoulder.

“Hey,
Rem. Want to come watch Interview
with the Vampire? It’d be like old
home week—New Orleans and all…” Please?

“I don’ think
so, chere….Lemme finish this up and go check on Jubilee…” Remy knew he had made a mistake as soon as
the words left his mouth.

“Oh?” Rogue stepped back a few paces, her arms
closing across her chest.

“Don’ be
like that, chere. She been hurt.” Remy stood, gesturing to the now-faint stain
on the carpet.

“Whatever. Look, I’m gonna go watch a movie. See ya round, Cajun.” Rogue turned from him quickly, almost
jogging to the rec room.

“Elle est
folle.”[1] Remy gave the carpet a last look and pulled the
sofa forward a little, mostly hiding the remains of the brown spot. He could hear the movie starting in the room
across the hall and stopped to peer at Rogue through the darkness. She was turned away from him, staring
resolutely at the screen. Jamie saw
him, though, and darted out of the room to him.

“Can I come
see her, too?” Jamie looked so eager to
Remy that the older mutant could scarcely say no.

“C’mon,
petit homme. Les go see Jubes,
eh?” Remy put his hand on Jamie’s back
and ushered him down to the lower level to the infirmary, passing Amara along
the way. She shot them a dirty glare
and kept her fast pace down the hall in the opposite direction. Remy spared her a scant look over his
shoulder but put her strangeness out of mind when they reached the door marked
“Med Lab.” Jamie pulled back and gave
Remy a semi-scared look. “It’s okay, mon ami.
She prolly not sleepin’.” Jamie
sighed quietly and pushed the door open only wide enough to admit himself and
Remy. The smell of antiseptic, coffee,
and bandages assaulted their senses as they stepped into the area that served
as Hank’s triage.

“Where is
she?” There were no beds in the small
room, only the exam table and cabinets.

“If you are
looking for Miss Lee, she’s right through that door.” Hank’s voice drifted from behind the exam table. A blue head popped up and smiled at the two
males in the doorway. “She’d love some
company, but don’t stay too long. She’s
very tired.” He did not add that the
tiredness came from the incredible amount of painkiller he had given her. Her injuries were more extensive than
originally thought. She would need a root canal on two teeth, her nose was
broken and her cheekbone was fractured in at least two places. Hank stood up fully, clutching the handful
of cotton swabs he had been gathering.
At Remy’s raised eyebrow, the large man chuckled, murmuring “Slippery
little suckers…”[2] He tilted
his head in the direction of a plain white door at the opposite end of the
room, indicating that Remy and Jamie could go on through. It was small compared to the emergency-room
like major trauma room near the plane hangar that, fortunately, everyone had
only seen on the official tour of the mansion.
Only four beds were in this smaller room, one in each corner and each
made with fresh white linens. Jubilee
was in the bed nearest the door, looking very dark against the stark
sheets. She had an IV line running into
the top of her left hand, dripping a combination of saline, Pepcid, and
painkiller.[3] Remy’s breath caught in his throat and his
hand tightened convulsively on Jamie’s shoulder as he took in Jubilee’s state.

“Hey,
Gumbo. Bring me anything good?” Her left eye was merely a slit in her
swollen flesh while her right eye opened almost normally. The blood was gone but the bruise was just
as angry as it had been earlier, when Hank first saw to her.

“Jubilee,
what happened?” Jamie was near tears,
breaking away from Remy and running to his friend’s bedside.

“Oh, just
had an argument with physics. A body in
motion will remain in motion and all…”
She ruffled Jamie’s hair and took him into a one-armed hug. “Think you can sneak me some ice cream
later, kid? I got Jean to bring me my
Game Boy. You can go get yours and
we’ll have a Tetris war.”

“You mean
it? Cool!” Jamie, considerably cheered up, gave Jubilee another hug and
dashed from the room in search of ice cream and video games, leaving Remy and
Jubilee alone.

“What
happened, p’tite?” Remy barely
recognized his own voice—it was shaking.

“Don’t ask.” Remy had no idea about Kitty’s parents and
she did not want to be the one to tell him.
Those are her demons.
Jubilee felt her eyebrows creep up as Remy edged towards the bed,
obviously uncomfortable in any setting remotely resembling a hospital.

“Um, you
real good to Jamie, p’tite.” His eyes
were fixed on her injuries, making her self conscious.

“He’s like
a brother to me. I never had a
brother.” The Asian girl let herself
scrunch down in the sheets, covering as much of the blue hospital gown as
possible. He may be all over Rogue,
but I don’t want him seeing me like this.
“Whatcha want, Gumbo? I’m
tired…” She yawned wide, emphasizing
her point.

“Jus’ wanted to see that you
okay. Are you?”

“What’s it look like?”

“Um, no?”

Jubilee
snorted, then yelped as the action caused her considerable pain. “Shit.
Am I bleeding again?” Sure
enough, her snort had dislodged a clot of blood and red was now running freely
down her mouth and chin.

“Lemme
help.” Remy had produced a handkerchief
and moved to help staunch the flow only to have Jubilee bat him away.

“I got
it! Don’t want to get your hanky all
bloody.” She leaned forward, bending
her neck while pressing against her upper lip with one finger. “This used to work when I got whacked on the
face learning the uneven bars…”[4] Remy watched worriedly until Jubilee
straightened herself and offered him a gruesome grin, blood smeared as it
was. “Whaddya think? Impress the Hell out of Jamie. He’s all into that blood and guts
stuff.”

“I be thinking
you need a washcloth…” Remy darted out
of the room for a moment and procured a damp cloth from the small bathroom
nearby. When he returned, he offered it
to the girl with an expression that threatened I’ll do it myself if you
don’t… Grumbling, Jubilee took the
cloth and dabbed at her face.

“Better? Guess not…”
She had only succeeded in smearing the blood around, making Remy grimace
in distaste.

“Lemme help
you, cherie.” Taking the cloth from
her, Remy settled himself on the edge of the bed, careful of the IV line. Gently dabbing at the blood, he took
Jubilee’s chin in her hand and studied her good eye. “Blue?”

“So?” She jerked away, glaring at him. “Yes, I’m one hundred percent Chinese. Just got weird eyes on count of the mutation
and all. Besides, who’re you to talk,
Mr. Red Eyes?”

“Why you
always so defensive? I just noticing
the color, not criticizing.” He had
mopped up most of the blood and decided that was as much as Jubilee would let
him do. “Look, I jus’ be wanting to
make sure you okay. If you ain’t
gonna tell me what happened to hurt you
like that, I jus’ be goin’.” He made it
as far as the door before a sigh from Jubilee made him stop.

“Ask
Kitty. I can’t say anymore than that
without fucking it up.”

“Kitty hit
you, then?” He raised an incredulous
brow.

“No…Damn
it. Her father did. He was going for Kurt, though…” She hastily added the last bit, as if that
made it better.

“I’ll kill
him.”

“Remy, stay
out of it. It was an accident and
whatever is going on, it’s between Kitty and her parents. And maybe Kurt.” As much as Jubilee wanted to make Mr. Pryde pass sparkley stool
for a year, she knew that doing something like that would only make Kitty’s
life worse. Kitty’s a little flakey
but she’s a good friend. I can’t mess
her life up anymore than it already is…
She was saved from a response by Remy when Jamie bounced into the room,
bearing a pint of ice cream, some spoons, and a Game Boy. “Hey, kiddo. Ready to get your butt whipped at Tetris?” Remy narrowed his eyes at Jubilee, earning
the cold shoulder. With a bare wave at
the girl, he strode from the room in search of Kitty.

“So?”

“So what?”

“The
tape!” Lance drummed his fingers
against the steering wheel, not looking at Amara. He was already annoyed that she made him pick her up at the park
across from the mansion as opposed to her coming straight to the boarding
house. When she did not bring up the
tape right away, his annoyance level spiked into the red zone.

“Oh. Storm found it. From what I gather, Kitty’s parents are getting the law after
Kurt now and they aren’t allowed to see each other.” Mansion gossip was like the Telephone game. The actual facts changed with each person’s
version but a kernel of the truth remained.

“Really? Cool…” Lance was really not sure how he felt
about it, truth be told. Damn. Just when it looked like I was gonna get
some on a regular basis. And from a hot
chick, too. Slanting his glance
towards the girl now, he appreciated how her skirt exposed more thigh than it
covered and the swell of her breasts under the thin cotton top she wore. “Aren’t you cold?”

Amara’s lip
curled mockingly. “Worried about your
partner in crime? I’m fine. Besides, if I get cold…” She allowed herself to flame up briefly, just
long enough for effect.

“Hey! Watch the car, bitch!” Lance swerved in his shock.

“Watch your
mouth, boy!” Amara slapped him
across the cheek. “Oh, but you like
that, don’t you? Being pushed around by
girls? Is that why you aren’t too eager
to get Kitty back? You like that she’s
running all over you?” The malice rose
in Amara’s breast like poison, corroding everything it touched.

“You shut
up, Amara or I swear I’ll tell that it was you on that tape!”

“Ooooh. Big bad Avalanche is gonna tell on lil’ ol’
me?” Amara arched her brows, daring him
to threaten her again.

“You have
no idea who you’re messing with!” He
jerked the wheel hard, steering into the school parking lot. Slamming on the brakes, he was out of his
seatbelt and leaning over Amara before she could react. “I’m not one of your freaks that you can
push around.” One hand fumbled to
unfasten her seatbelt while the other reached down between her seat and the
door and flipped the mechanism that laid the seat back. “Never forget that I’m bigger than you,
stronger than you, faster than you…” Wonder
if I can cop a feel before she hits me again?

“And you
want me more than I want you.” Amara
grabbed his crotch and squeezed, his arousal obvious. “Make this quick. We have things to talk about.”

Lance felt
his eyes widen despite his best efforts not to look surprised. “What kind of things?” He struggled briefly with his zipper before
finally freeing himself.

“What we’re
going to do in case this tape doesn’t work.”
Amara lifted her hips and pushed up her skirt, revealing that she had no
underwear on. At Lance’s stare, she
stated, “I like to save time.”

“Why
wouldn’t it work?” Lance moved over her
and nudged her thighs apart with his knee.

“It’s
important to have contingency plans…Oh!”
Amara could not help the startled gasp that escaped when Lance slid in;
the awkward position in the front seat made for some interesting pure ure on a
very sensitive bundle of nerves.

“Harder?” Lance’s tall frame was difficult to maneuver
in the front seat of the car but at Amara’s frantic nod, he thrust as hard as
he could, pushing her into the seatback with each downward stroke. Her nails bit through the skin on his upper
arms, drawing blood. Excited beyond
words, Lance merely growled into Amara’s neck.

“How feral
of you…” Her voice was breathy, not
like the other time, he noted. Before
she had been assertive and tough but now she was submissive. Well, for her anyway. Lance growled again and was rewarded with an
upward thrust of her hips followed by a
sharp bite on his earlobe.

“Do that
again!” The sharp sting of pain shot
straight through to Lance’s groin, driving him closer to the edge. When she bit down again, hard enough to draw
blood this time, he climaxed, crying her name into her neck.

“Hmmm. What about me?” Amara lay beneath him as he panted for breath, recovering from
one of the best orgasms of his life.

“What about
you?”

“I didn’t
finish.”

“You’re on
your own, Princess.” Lance moved back
over to his side of the car and readjusted his clothing. “What’d you want to say earlier?”

“You’re on
your own, Lance.” Amara shoved the car
door open and disappeared into the night, her skirt damp and sticking to her
thighs but her stride that of a princess.
A very, very angry princess.
Lance had a sinking feeling that he had fucked up big time.

Amara
stomped past Kurt as he arranged flowers on the wrought iron table in the
solarium. He heard her steps as they
passed, then paused and turned back.
“What are you doing?”

“Logan is
going to chaperone our date tonight.”

“Date?”

“Ja. I made dinner for Kitty and we’re going to
go stargazing…” Kurt babbled on as the
blood rushed in Amara’s ears. Kurt
leapt into the air and ‘ported to the outside of the glass room when Amara let
loose an unholy shriek. “Vas ist wrong?” The Nova Roman was a rather alarming shade
of red as she stuttered and fumed, shaking her finger at Kurt. “Vas?”

“So then
what did she do?”

“She said
something about ‘It didn’t work’ and stormed out of the room. Haven’t seen her since…” Kurt passed a wineglass full of grape juice
to Kitty, shrugging his shoulders in a dismissive gesture. “Amara’s just weird.”

“More than
usual, lately.” Kitty’s eyes slid over
to meet Logan’s. The older man had not
taken his eyes off the couple once during the whole evening, starting when Kurt
knocked on Kitty’s door promptly at seven o’clock for the surprise date. At that moment, he stood on the outside of
the solarium’s glass wall, taking in the night air to the casual passer by but
the couple inside knew better: Logan could hear every word they were saying if
he chose to listen in. He had been the
one who suggested the solarium to Kurt, mainly so he could keep an eye on the
teenagers without actually being in the room with them. Kurt seized the idea and ran with it,
creating his version of a romantic evening, complete with an elaborate (well,
elaborate for him) dinner, flowers and an itinerary that included watching the
forcasted meteor shower and dancing, if Kitty felt up to it. Logan was not looking forward to the
dancing.

“Hmmm. You think she’s up to something? I heard Jamie saying that Jubilee thinks
Amara has a boyfriend who’s not a mutant and she’s trying to hide it from him.” Kurt took another mouthful of juice, wishing
for a moment that it were actually wine and worrying that it made him seem
juvenile to Kitty.

“Amara
wouldn’t date someone who couldn’t handle the mutant thing. I think she’s just being Amara. She’s a lot of talk but I don’t think she’d
hurt anyone.” Kitty smiled at her
boyfriend, still a little buzzed from the excitement of Kurt showing up at her
bedroom door, flowers in hand, wearing his only suit. He had swept her off her feet, something that she had never
really expected to happen outside of storybooks, especially when she was
already in a relationship with him. He
must have sensed her surprise because he told her that he wanted to do things
right, to court her before going to bed with her again. Logan had pretended not to hear but Kitty
could tell from the vein throbbing in his neck that her guardian had heard
every word.

‘Eh. Let’s not talk about her. It’s killing the mood.” Kurt wagged his eyebrows at her, causing
Kitty to giggle. “You ready for a walk?”

“Sure. Dinner was great, Kurt. You cook it all yourself?” She took his proffered arm and dropped a
mock curtsey at his half-bow. Grinning,
she allowed him to lead her out the door and past Logan before nudging him in
the ribs for an answer.

“Weeeeeeeellll….. Jean kind of helped. She made sure I didn’t mistranslate the
recipe and such.” Kurt half-turned his
head to see how far back Logan was and decided that there was enough distance
to whisper to Kitty without being overheard.
“Katzchen, I’m trying to be good, I really am, but I want you so badly
that I ache.”

Kitty
stumbled and clung to Kurt to balance herself.
“What?” Her voice came out with
a defined tremor.

“I said…”

“I heard
what you said, it’s just…wow.” Kitty
shook her head as if to clear it and smiled shyly up at Kurt. “Um, me, too…” Kurt swept her into a giddy two unt until a throat-clearing from
Logan stopped them.

“Sorry. I just like hearing that.” They had reached the slope where they had
laid the night of the first fight between Rogue and Jubilee. Kurt had laid out a blanket, some pillows,
and a chair for Logan (a discreet distance away, of course). Kurt had even provided some magazines and
the sports section of the paper for Logan to read while he and Kitty watched
the meteor shower.

“Oh, Kurt…”
Kitty was stunned at the effort Kurt had put into this impromptu evening. Even Logan seemed impressed, letting out a
low whistle as he strolled past on his way to the lawn chair.

“Come on,
Schatz, it’ll be starting soon!” Kurt
pulled her to the blanket and helped her get settled before laying next to her,
making sure that Logan could see that the only parts of their bodies touching
were their hands. “Watch over there.” Kurt had not worn his holo so it was
difficult for Kitty to see which direction he was pointing in the dark. Noticing this, he gently turned her head
towards the northwest to see the small green lights speeding through the night
sky.

“Oh! How beautiful!” Kitty had never seen a meteor shower before and was entranced by
the falling stars, colored green and bright yellow as they passed through the
atmosphere.

“Yes…beautiful.” Kurt’s breath tickled her ear and she
realized quickly that he was not referring to the astronomical phenomenon.

“Kurt…” At a loss for words, she stretched her neck
to touch her lips to his only to be brought up short by a harsh sound from
Logan. “Damn it.”

“You kids
watch the stars, not each other.” Kurt
sighed and rolled onto his back, willing his painful arousal to go away. Think about dead bugs. Think about Logan’s claws…There. That worked…Now
I’m just paranoid. Sneaking a
glance at Kitty, he saw that she was chewing her lower lip in frustration. “Katzchen…can you see me?” A little idea had occurred to Kurt—if she
couldn’t see me pointing, how much of me is visible?

“Wowza. That’s disturbing. All I can see are your clothes and your eyes.” Kitty peered into the dark, searching for
him even though he was less than a foot away.
“That’s a little creepy.”

“Vas? You’ve seen it before…” Kurt’s idea was taki dec decidedly wicked
turn. I wonder if Logan can see me.

“Yeah, but
it’s still weird. Like when I only
phase halfway through stuff. You know
how that creeps you out…” Kurt
shuddered just slightly at that image. “See? I knew it bugged you. So don’t get all defensive about me being
creeped out a little when you’re all Invisible Man, okay?”

Kurt smiled
a little in the dark, his teeth flashing like the Cheshire Cat’s. “I’m going to try something…” Hifteifted just a little so that he could
maneuver his tail. Waving it in the air
in Logan’s direction. “Having a good
time, Herr Logan?”

Logan
looked up from the swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated[5],
vaguely in Kurt’s direction. “Sure,
Kid. Great.” He squinted a little in Kitty’s direction. “Where you at, Elf?”

“He’s,
like, right here.” Kitty held up their
joined hands and waited for Logan’s nod.
“He may not be able to see you but he can smell you, you know.”

“And hear
you!” Logan’s voice bore little trace
of humor.

“That, too.” Kitty squeezed Kurt’s hand in consolation
before she realized he was not very upset.

“Herr
Logan, would it make you feel better if I turned on my holo?” Kurt’s grin was decidedly wicked.

‘Got it on
ya?” Logan peered over the edge of the
magazine, eyes scanning for Kurt.

“Always
prepared…” Kurt touched his watch and
the image of Kurt as a “normal” teenager sprang to life. “Better?”

‘Much. As you were.” Logan returned his attention the scantily clad women on the pages
before him.
“Kurt, what’re
you doing? He can see you now!” Kitty had no idea what Kurt was planning but
was fairly certain that being seen was not part of it.

“He can
only see what the holo covers, ja?”

“Yeeeees….” Where’s he going with this? A tickle
on her thigh made Kitty jump and squeak.

“What’s
wrong over there?”

“It was a
bee[6]…it’s
gone now.” That seemed to satisfy Logan and he delved again into Miss Silicone’s
vital stats. The tickle came again and
Kitty realized it was Kurt’s tail, the only part of him not disguised by the
holo. Kurt placed a finger over his
lips, asking her to be silent, before rolling over as far onto his back as he
could and still manipulate his tail.

“Watch the
stars, Katzchen.” Amusement laced his
voice, masking something deeper and huskier in his tone. Kitty shivered in anticipation and stared at
the meteor shower, no longer seeing the falling stars but rather racing through
a million lustful fantasies all staring Kurt. The tip of his tail tickled the
back of her knee before tracing upwards to her hip, following it’s curve. Smiling when he felt the shudder run through
her body, Kurt ran his tail tip across her stomach and down the other side of
her hip, running down the side seam of her dress. “Pink again?”

“Get over
it.” She stuck her tongue out at him,
knowing that he could see her in the dark.
He laughed a little and found the hem of the dress near her knees. Logan was still engrossed in the magazine
and seemingly ignoring them.

‘What
perfume are you wearing?”

“Lilly of
the valley.” She had done it on
purpose, knowing how much Logan hated the scent. She had expected to experience some arousal during the course of
the evening and did not want the embarrassment of Logan knowing from her
smell.

“You did
that on purpose…” A gentle jab on her
inner thigh was both erotic and teasing.

“Maybe. Maybe I just like the smell.” She moved her legs apart just enough to look
as if she were getting comfortable should Logan notice her movement. Kurt shifted his tail so that it snaked
beneath her knee, hidden from view, and laid it against the length of her
thigh, it’s tip barely touching their juncture. Kitty bit her lower lip hard.
She could feel him brushing against the already damp fabric of her
panties and it was driving her crazy, making her shift her hips.

“If you lay
still, you can see the stars more readily.”
Kitty caught the hidden message—Lay still and I’ll bring you
pleasure. She stilled herself and
tried to look as if she were captivated by the meteor shower. Kurt held his breath, listening to the
flipping of the pages behind him. Please
let this work. I’m too young to die! Kurt found the elastic edge of Kitty’s
panties and gingerly slid them to the side using his tail. Kitty’s sharp intake of breath did not seem
to rouse suspicion from their chaperone.
She stiffened her legs to prevent her hips from moving as Kurt teased
her wet inner folds with his own sensitive tail tip. He was having a hard time holding back moans and gasps of his
own, Kitty’s willpower amazing him. Save
it for when you’re alone, Kurt…Just you and the shower later. When her eyes fluttered shut, he slowly
pushed past her nether lips and into her slick entrance.

“Stars
still falling over there?” Logan’s
voice nearly caused two early-onset cardiac arrests at that very moment. Kitty was the first to recover.

“Yeah—I think
it’s going to pick up in a minute or two…”
Kurt sighed with ecstatic relief when he heard Logan begin flipping
pages once more. Kitty’s inner muscles
squeezed his tail, making ever nerve in his body cry for release. The vixen knows what she’s doing! Kurt realized that Kitty knew precisely how
sensitive his tail was by the way she continued squeezing it inside her
sex. Remembering something he read in
one of Jean’s “women’s magazines,” Kurt slid his tail a little further into
Kitty’s passageway and curved it gently upwards. Ah, there it is!
His tail brushed against a rough spot inside Kitty’s warmth. He could feel her fluids gush around him as
he stroked it and knew that she was about to reach her climax; increasing his
speed while trying to keep their activities secret was the most difficult task
Kurt had ever faced in his short life.
He knew he had succeeded, though, when Kitty clenched her muscles around
him so tightly that he nearly cried out.
He could feel her release around his tail and dripping onto the
blanket. When her shaking stopped, Kurt
slowly withdrew his tail and wrapped it around his waist again.

“Guess you
don’t feel much like dancing?”

“I don’t
think I can right now…” Kitty let out a
breathy giggle as she scooted closer to Kurt.

“Okay,
kids. I’m bored and I think you’ve had
enough. Let’s get in.” .” Logan was half way to the couple when the
scent of Kitty’s arousal hit him. They
didn’t get near each other all night. I
kept my eyes and ears open… Kurt
looked innocent enough, gathering the blanket and offering Kitty his hand. “Just a sec, Kurt.” Logan approached Kitty slowly, sniffing
deeply. I don’t smell Elf on her.
Maybe she’s just…hormonal. Gah! I feel like a dirty old man now. “Just checking.” He walked behind the couple all the way into the house, even
accompanying them to Kitty’s room. “One
kiss, no tongue.”

‘Gute
Nacht, Katzchen.”

“Night,
Kurt. Love you.” Kitty was pleasantly sleepy, touching her
forehead to Kurt’s before meeting his lips for a sweet but brief kiss on the
lips.

“See you
tomorrow…Ready, warden?” Kurt held his
wrists out to Logan as if expecting cuffs to be slapped on him.

“Smart
ass. Get to bed, bub. I’ve got things to do.” Kurt gave Kitty a last lingering look before
going to his own room. Logan stayed
where he was, sng nng narrowly at Kitty.
“I don’t know what sneaky thing you two did, but I know it wasn’t all
kosher out there.”

“I don’t
know what you mean, Logan. Everything
was Kosher.” Well, if you want to bring theology into it, it was Kosher.

“Hmpf. See ya in the morning, Half Pint.”

Jamie had
to wait for two hours before Amara crept down the stairs. Jubilee is counting on me. Be brave!
Silently, the young boy followed Amara out the back door, across the
lawn to the boathouse. He lost her in
the shadows for a moment but saw her as she passed through a pool of moonlight
several yards ahead. Hurrying to keep
up, he followed her all the way to the gate where she disappeared. Hey, I know that car. Where have I seen it before? Why is Amara sneaking off? Jamie focused on the license plate of
the car, committing it’s numbers to memory.
Maybe Kitty can look it up for me.
She’s good at this computer stuff.
Proud of himself and his first recon mission, Jamie skipped back to the
mansion to give Jubilee a full report.
