Part Thirteen- END

Attack on Frost Enterprises
Part Thirteen

A soft voice and pressure gently rocking him back into reality- or maybe it wasn’t so gentle? Jared’s eyes cracked open and he gazed up at the shadowy figure of Creed, wings tightly nestled against his body and coming up to brush against his face, the way he normally slept when alone. “I wuzzant sleepin’,” he murmured quietly as eyelids became heavy again and mistress Sleep called. The smell of something delicious cooking though brought him back into a half-awake state and Jared shrugged off the shirt and raised himself up on his elbows, stomach still firmly against the seat and wings moving down to rest easily along his back, one wing curling on the floor and the other brushing the roof. “Adri back wit food?”

-

“No kid, haven’t seen her, but we got food, plenty, common.” Creed extended a hand to the boy as an offer of help up. The kid still needed rest, but first he needed food, Creed could practically smell his stomach eating it’s self. Slowly he got the drowsy kid out of the car and steered him to ward the fire to sit. Taking his own seat, maybe a little too close to the boy, but Creed didn’t mind, he offered up a stick with finely cooked deer meat on it. “Here ya go, eat up, there is more where that cam from.” He tore into his own share and noted how bland it was. “Sorry, ain’t got nothin’ to season it with, but we got beer to wash it down.” He placed a can next to the kid, he knew Jared didn’t drink beer, but the water was almost gone.

-

Jared let himself be taken out of the car, his body seeming very heavy with sleep, wings dropping to accent his already tired features, but he took a seat by the fire and thanked the feral man for the meat-on-a-stick. Suddenly his stomach caught on to his sense of smell and he was ravenous, tearing into the most delicious chunk of meat he had ever tasted in his whole life! Jared swallowed quickly and didn’t even notice that it was beer he was gulping down, and when he did it was too late to complain, seeing as how his mouth was full again.

After he finished off the stick, Jared licked his fingers clean, which had somehow found their way to the meat and now had juices running over his digits and down his arms. He licked his lips and grinned over at Creed, the hunger pains finally lessening. “You caught this all yourself? Did you even leave any for Adrienne’s pack or is that going to be something else she can add to her bitch list?” The fire before them crackled and flickered light over the two, and Jared raised a hand to rub sleep from his eyes, the warm light blinding him some.

-

Creed chuckled, this kid was so enthusiastic. “Yeah, and there’s plenty for her pack.” He handed Jared another stick of meat and another beer, this kid had guzzled down his first, and leaned back happily stuffing his own face with meat and beer. The silence was deafening, but Creed enjoyed it all the same. “When we’re done you need to get some more rest, I ain’t carrying your sorry ass out of here tomorrow.” Truth be told, he would if he had to, and probably enjoy it, but Creed would never let on to Jared.

-

“What, even after I hauled your ass into that crap-machine Saturn over there?” Jared threw back teasingly, and decided to use the stick this time to eat the generous helping of meat. It was just as yummy as the first and he had no problem swallowing half in less time than it had taken him with the other one. The beer followed after every bite, and Jared just assumed that it was the now-filled feeling of his stomach causing his slight case of vertigo. “And mine is far lighter, too.” He pointed out after swallowing down another bite and licked his lips again, completely content in stuffing his face.

-

Creed laughed again, only this time louder. “Had enough yet, kid?” he was getting drunk off the stale beer, the kid really couldn’t hold his liquor. For every stick the boy had eaten, Creed had devoured three and was now happily full. With a big yawn, he rose, waiting for the boy to decide he was full and ready to take him off to the car to sleep. Creed would have much rather just slept on the forest floor, but he had a feeling the kid wouldn’t want to sleep alone, and if that meant he had to crush himself into the front seat, the so be it.

-

Jared smiled sleepily up at the older mutant and rose as well, brushing off some dirt from his already ruined denim jeans, and left their mess behind as he followed Creed to the car. “Yea… And what are sleeping arrangements?” He asked while fighting off a large yawn, hand only doing a half-assed job of covering his mouth. A large man like Creed could barely fit into the back seat- Jared couldn’t even imagine either of them crammed into the front. "I could take the roof, if you want," he said, only half joking, ready to pass out amongst the twigs and leaves soon.

-

“Get in kid.” Creed eyed up the front seat of the car before sliding to the ground leaning against the front door. “You curl up and get some rest, I’ll stay here and keep one eye open for the bear I scented earlier.” He shifted until he found a comfortable arrangement and settled in for the semi-long night ahead. Really they didn’t have long till sunrise, but the uncomfortable position would make every hour count.

-

The younger man was about to say that that position was obviously not comfortable and that he had not been thrown out of a window three stories up, so it was obvious that he should take the watch instead of Creed. However, the determined look on Creed’s face didn’t let the words leave his lips and Jared merely sighed and climbed in, taking his previous position. “If you say so,” he murmured and wrapped his wings tightly around his body again, his left coming up to hide his face underneath it as if they were sheets instead of appendages covered in soft brown feathers. A moment passed in silence before Jared uncurled himself, reached towards the floor of the car, and threw the discarded shirt at the back of Creed’s head, just because he could and liked testing his luck with the blonde feral. He quickly raised his wing again and bit back a laugh.

-

Creed growled out, “go to sleep.” And pushed the door closed so that Jared could no longer launch projectiles at him. He tossed the stinky old shirt onto the forest floor a few feet away and sat, watching and waiting. Slowly his eyes began to drift shut and soon he too was asleep, the day’s events catching up to him finally.

A/N: Mission complete? Yes. Succesful? Deffinately. A good opportunity to get Creed and Jared together? Hell yeah! This is only the first installment of Jared’s series, so be sure to check my profile and the group’s main page (as listed in the first part) for more updates!

~Cheers!
