Chapter 11
Ok folks here is Chapter 11. Sorry it took so long. I promise the
next one won't be as long. I hope it was worth the wait. Thanks to
Jukebox for all hger help, as usual. Took some wicked liberties with
Remy's orgins on this one. Hope you don't mind.

Title: The Winter Of Our Discontent
Author: Lex
Feedback: Oh please, yes yes yes !!
Pairing: Remy/ Logan
Rating: PG 13
Warnings: strong language
Summary: I found myself angry at the end of the comic Ultimate X-men
#41 when Logan is sent to "deal" with a young mutant boy whose powers
are inadvertently deadly to those around him and so I thought I would
continue the story as I felt it after I finished the book. This
chapter is definitely AU. I took a few (to say the least) liberties
with our heroes pasts.
Disclaimer: Though I love the X-men they do not belong to me and the
only thing I gain from writing about them is the pleasure of their
company
Author's notes: I guess kind of comic verse and AU. Not slash really…
but getting there, and I do not speak kindly of the mutant band in
this story.
Chapter 11
Remy nudged Logan lightly as he was beginning to doze in the
bath. "Gotta get outta de tub, cher, we beginnin' to get al pruny."
Sighing, Logan leaned back against his lover and placed his head
against his shoulder. Remy leaned his head down and kissed the older
man's temple. "Can put new water in de bath if y' wanna stay, cher."
"Nope." Logan replied. "Got a better idea." He pulled himself out of
the bath and extended his hands to Remy, practically lifting the
young man out of the water. He wrapped his arms around the boy and
kissed him deeply, pressing his tongue to Remy's lips until he gained
entrance. Their tongues moved together in a now familiar dance.
As the kiss ended, Remy smiled. "I t'ink I like dis idea o' y'rs,
cher." Logan gave him a hint of a smile and with a playful look began
to move them toward the bedroom. Logan's hands moved over Remy's
still wet body as he guided him to the bed. Remy's fingers were
moving through Logan's dripping hair, pushing it back off of his
face. Remy stared at his lover's features. He had them committed to
memory now. He smiled as he thought of how every time he closed his
eyes he would see Logan's face. He felt protected now in his dreams.
The nightmares were few and far between, and not as terrifying. As
much as he had invaded Logan's body back at the mansion, Logan was
now part of him. He frowned slightly at the thought of what he had in
his coat pocket.
Lips pressing against his ear brought him back to his lover. "Where'd
ya go Rem?" Logan asked softly, lips brushing against the shell of
Remy's ear. "You looked miles away from here."
Remy smiled sadly. He meant to try to hide his apprehension, but
could not shake the sudden feelings he was having over those damn
files. He should have just burned them all sight unseen. "Jus
thinkin' cher." He whispered. He wanted so much to just lie back and
let Logan take all of these feelings away, to forget what he knew and
just live the rest of his life in a small cabin in Canada making love
to the man next to him. He wanted to forget what he was. Forget what
they had done to him at the lab. Forget what he had read about Logan,
Creed, and Silver Fox… He cringed at the last name. It was one thing
to tell Logan that she had been a part of Weapon X along with him and
Sabertooth. It was another to tell him…
"…Remy!" He was pulled from his thoughts by Logan yelling his name
and shaking him slightly. "You all right, Rem? You keep going away
from me." Logan's voice was soft now and full of concern. Remy could
feel it pouring off him - concern, love and fear. He pulled the older
man close to him and kissed him lightly. "No need to be afraid, cher,
jus' cause my mind wanders away for a time don' mean I ain't here
with y'."
"Ya wanna talk about it?" Logan asked. Remy looked at him
thoughtfully. Did he want to talk about it? Did he want Logan to know
what he was? Who he was?
Remy sighed. Logan had a right to know. "Yeah, cher. I think I do
wanna talk about it. I jus' don' know if y' gonna wanna hear it."
Logan pulled him close, looking his young lover in the eyes. "There
ain't nothin' you can say, Rem, that I don' want to hear, ok?"
"Y' may change y' mind after I finish." Remy took a deep breath and
spoke softly.
"I took somethin' from the files I sent Cyke." He started. He looked
at Logan and then looked away. "I got it in my coat." He leaned away
from Logan and pulled the papers out of his pocket, handing them over
to the older mutant. "Y' can read 'em or I can tell y' about 'em,
t'sup to you, cher." Logan looked at the papers in his hands. "Why
don't you tell me about 'em while I look 'em over, ok?"
Remy took another deep breath and began to tell what he had read as
Logan started scanning the pages. "Don' remember much about when I
was little, but I remember knowing I was different. I was told over
and over how I was evil, a demon and so on. As I got older, I always
wanted to know who I belonged to, who my parents were. Now I know. I
don't belong to anyone. I was a creation. I was an experiment." Tears
were beginning to form in Remy's eyes and he was cursing them,
willing them to stop. "Used to wonder why Essex was so interested in
me, y' know? Why he was always taking me away, cutting, poking,
injecting. Why his experiments were so geared to me and my body, my
genetic make up." He could no longer control the tears as they began
to fall. "Now I know. He knew me cause he created me. Him and de
others in dat lab." Remy pointed to the papers and his voice caught.
He was not sure if he could talk any more about it. Logan was reading
the papers, his fingers tightening around the edges. Remy could feel
sadness coming from his lover. Then anger was taking over and Remy
was becoming afraid. Was the anger going to be directed at him? He
felt sick to his stomach as he recalled the names listed. His
parents, donors of genetic material. Were they willing or unwilling
participants? Did they know about him? He could guess that they
probably were not very willing, but then, one of them had to at least
be aware of him. After all, one of them had given birth to him, or so
the papers said.
"Essex used to tell me I belonged to him. He told me he knew what was
best for me." Remy's voice as barely audible as he continued. "Guess
he was tellin' me de truth, non? Guess I do belong to him. As much as
I can belong t' anyone." He looked at Logan who was still staring at
the papers in his hands. His anger was so strong it was beginning to
make Remy dizzy. He knew what he was looking at - the name of the
woman who had brought Remy into this world.
"I understand if y' want to go alone from here, cher. Being a genetic
mish mosh is one t'ing, y' know? But being the product of Magnus and
Raven?" He deliberately left out the last person on the list of his
DNA, the woman noted to have been the one to give birth to him -
Logan's beloved Silver Fox.
