Stranger than Fiction

The pale young woman laying on the white hospital bed stired and winced in pain. Slowly her eyes opened and looked around the room. Her face felt swollen and was throbbing the pain feeling like she had been on the wrong end of a basball bat. Her abdomen hurt just as much. She tried to sit up in the bed but fell back as the sudden pain from her shoulder hit her. She threw back the covers with her good arm and seen her arm was in a splint. Her nightshirt riding up her body enough to expose the large fist shaped bruise on her stomach. Her black thong poking through her gym shorts. She looked beside her and saw the clothes she had been wearing neetly folded and sitting on the chair next to her. Blood stains on her green fishnet shirt.

*Jean must have changed my clothes or something. What the hell happened? How the hell did I get back home? Last thing I remember is Matthew flying through a wall and Fred raising his hand. Oh no MATTHEW where is he? * Rogue thought trying to raise up again only to have her shoulder force her back on the bed.


"Hank? ! Any body There? Hello?! MATTHEW?!" Rogue Yelled wincing as another pain shot from her shoulder.

"Rogue please be quite. The other students are asleep." The familiar voice of Hank came from down the hall.

He walked into the room kunkles and feet hitting the floor as he came into view. His fur covered face looking tired and worried.

"Where's Matthew? Last thing I remember is seeing Blob raise his hand. Damn my face hurts like hell! I wanna see Matt where's he at?" Rogue asked.

"Rogue I am afraid I have some bad news.It's About Matthew" Hank said with a sigh.

* Oh God no! NO! NO! NO! * Rogue thought her mind falling on the worst possible conclusion. Something that would be just the thing Hank would say considering How fucked up her young life had been lately.


"PLEASE DON'T TELL ME HE'S DEAD HANK PLEASE!" Rogue screamed asher eyes filled with tears. She tried to get out of Bed but Hank quickly stopped her with A heavy hand on her good shoulder.

"He's not Dead Rogue...Rogue PLEASE CALM DOWN!!" Hank yelled when Rogue was still trying to get out of the Bed. Her body Pushing against his hand and surprisingly she was able to raise to her feet before Hank Pushed her back down.


"Let me go I want to see him now GOD DAMN IT!" Rogue Yelled struggling against Hank's Attempts to get her to lay back down.

"YOU CAN'T MARIE! CALM DOWN BEFORE I SEDATE YOU!" Hank said while still trying to keep Rogue from getting up


"DON'T YOU DARE CALL ME THAT ONLY HE CAN CALL ME THAT! WHERE IS HE I WANNA SEE HIM! LET ME GO OR I WILL DRAIN YOU I SWEAR TO GOD!"

Rogue Yelled her accent kicking in ful force as she quickly removed her glove with her teeth and put her bare hand right infront of Hank's face. Hank out of reflex jumped back nearly clearing the whol room before he landed.

"IF YOU WOULD JUST STOP TRYING TO GET UP AND CALM THE HELL DOWN I WILL TELL YOU!"

Hank Yelled his temper getting the better of Him as Rogue finaly was able to stand only to sway dizzily and fall back on the bed.

"FINE FUCK IT WHAT THE HELL IS IT?!" She yelled as she laid back down on the bed as her stumach was doing flips.

"Matthew was hurt badly. the Professor is with him in a special Hospital for mutants. He just got out of Surgery about an hour ago. " Hank said pulling up a chair next to Rogue's bed and sitting down.



"What's wrong with him ?" She asked brushing away her still flowing tears.

"Blob was able to get in a few strikes one of which broke four of his ribs and caused his lung to collapse on The way to the hospital " Hank said running his large hand through his hair and straightening out his clothes.

"But if Blob was Able to do that why am I here, and not God knows where with Magneto?" Rogue asked with a sniffle.

*Well I might as well tell her. It might make her feel better .... or worse* Hank thought.


"He showed Jean what happened before he passed out. She said He fought through the pain with the whole Brotherhood trying to get to you. He fought all of them until they went down to protect you. He put Blob in a coma. To be quite honest I am not sure he will make it. The others were lucky if you can call what he did to them luck. The only one he didn't hurt was Wanda because he said she was just a puppet for Magneto and didn't know what she was doing. She is here now trying to help us find her father." Hank said as he handed Rogue a box of tissues.

"She is what? HE DID WHAT?!" Rogue asked


"It seems Matthew manifested some new mutations during the fight. One only lasted long enough for him to remove the brainwashing from Wanda.... I need you to listen to me Now Rogue. When he gets back he will look different from what you may Remember. I need you to promise me you will not overact when you see him." Hank said

"What do you mean what's wrong with him?" Rogue asked before blowing her nose in a rather unlady like fashion.

*Well here it goes*she thought


"In the fight his rage got the better of him and because of his unique mutation it changed his appearance somewhat. He regained consciousness on the blackbird for a few moments and kept asking Jean if you would still love him after what he had done .. What he had become. So I need you to act as if it does not bother you even if it does. Do you understand? ....... Rogue I asked if you understood What I said" Hank asked after Rogue didn't answer.

"Yeah Hank I do. He should know I don't care what he looks Like. He could be fat and look like a warthog and I would still love him. Why does he think I wouldn't Love him for protecting me?" She asked looking a little confused


"I think he feels he failed you. Up till now he has been able to keep anyone from harming you while he was here. When Blob struck you He felt he failed. That you would have no reason to love him anymore. He feels bad for what he did to the Brotherhood even though he was protecting you and himself. When The others found Him He was holding you in his arms saying he was a monster that he doesn't deserve your love," Hank said a sad look coming over his face.

*My God what the hell happened back there? He didn't even flinch when he attacked Remy and Sabertooth. I don't think Hank is telling me everything. * Rogue thought.


" I know you aren't telling me everything. Now tell me. I demand to know everything that went on. even if it may hurt my feelings tell me." Rogue said.

"I guess I should ..." Hank said before recounting everything Jean told him.

"Are you saying he thinks he is no better than Sabertooth for almost attacking Wanda?" Rogue asked

"I don't Know All I know is Jean said when Wanda started crying before he attacked her he thought of you Crying when Sabertooth attacked. It is possible in his anger he made such a connection. But when he thought of you he was able to calm himself enough to break mastermind's Spell on Wanda. There could be more to it But that was all he would allow Jean to see. Now please try and get some sleep. Your sprung your wrist and fractured your shoulder. So You will have to stay in bed At least three days Before you can see him."


"You could always let me drain Logan .. " Rogue said.

"I really hope that was a joke Rogue." Hank said with a raised brow.

"Not really...." She said back

"You must really want to see him." Hank said


"Of course I do! He nearly died protecting me today. last night .... Wait how long have I been out?" Rogue said

"You have been been unconscious for roughly five hours. You would have been out longer if Logan had let me give you something stronger for the pain. But he said you should know as soon as possible if anything happened." As Hank finished speaking the phone began to ring. He quickly ran to answer it.


"Yes, She is awake...OK I will bring her the phone hold on." Hank said before walking back into the room.

"Someone wants to speak With you Rogue. I will be in the next room if you need me just yell." Hank said as he handed her the phone then walked out of the room.

"Hey Marie"A voice said on the other end of the line. Sounding familiar to her but different as well. Its deep voice having a faint inhuman tone to it.


"Hey Matt .. Are you feeling ok?" She asked

"Oh you know I am fine. Just had my chest ripped open. You know how that it is.... Morphine is good for you." Matthew said sounding a little groggy


"Can't say I do though my shoulder is hurting like hell right now .... Thanks for saving me again Matt. I might make it up to you when you get back "Rogue said trying to sound as sexy as she could with half her face swollen .. The other line was silent for a moment

"Are you saying what I think you are Marie?" He said sounding a little excited and a little more nervous.


"Maybe .... What do you think I mean?" She said in the sexist voice she could muster.

"Does it involve latex?" He asked


"Not this time it doesn't."She answered.

The line feel silent again. Matthew took a deep breath and winced at the sudden pain before speaking.

"Marie Listen. You don't have to do that.....this to thank me for doing what I did...I didn't do it to be rewarded I did it because I love you. I want to make love to you when you are ready. When We both know the time is right .. Not to make me feel better or because you feel you have to. I want it to be special for both of us...Because it is .. I want to show you how much I love you. But only when you are truly ready to do it. Do you understand?" Mathew said.

This time it was her turn to be silent


"You really do love me don't you?" Rogue asked a misty eyed smile forming on her face.

"Of course I do. Why would you ask me that?" Matthew said sounding a little shocked.


"Because ......I dunno. I don't think I ever heard a guy say something like that before when offered sex from a hot girl. You are right though we should wait. I'm still real nervous about this whole touching thing anyway. I mean I just now got used to you kissing me......How about stuff above the belt when you get back?" She said with a nervous giggle.

"I think I could handle that .. only if you are ready to go that far though .... Shit now you got me blushing " matthew said witha slight laugh.


"Well, how do you think I fell I just offered you the chance to feel all over my tits. And Yeah I think I am ready for that .. Just no touching below the belt ........ I think Hank is listening to us .. HE'S A DIRTY OLD MAN!!!" She yelled

"I AM NOT!" Hank said poping his head throught he door after a shocked Yelp was heard.

"OK anyway Matthew when will you be back home." Rogue asked.

"I dunno. The Professor said I have some heightened healing abilities but nothing on the level of Logan. Maybe a week or so before they can transfer me to the school infirmary ... God I am going to go crazy If I can't see you before then!" Matthew said souding angry


"Oh hush you have seen me every day for over two weeks. You should be sick of me by now...Really though I will miss you too. Just Hurry up and get better so You can come home.. I love you Matt." Rogue said her voice a little low as she was still not used to saying those words.

"I love you too Marie .. Listen I don't Know What Beast told you But I .. I mean......I sorta .... umm well I mean to say.." Matthew said at a loss for words.


"I know you got a new look. I am OK with it doesn't Matter to me. I will still love you no matter what you look like. OK Matthew? And if this is about What happened at the concert I don't care You didn't fail me. I am still Here I am still breathing and I still love you. I would still love you even if Magneto had me right now. I would still love you even He killed me...I won't stop loving you Matthew So don't worry about that ok?" She said in a comforting manner.

"Marie, You keep talking like that and I am going to have to ask you to marry me one day...But thank you..I know you mean that. You are everything to me Marie I love you with all my heart and soul and If I had lost you.. I....." Matthew suddenly started to cry

"Matthew it's OK you didn't lose me and you won't anytime soon. I promise OK? I promise I will NEVER leave you alone. Please Stop crying ." Rogue said the sudden urge to hug and comfort him driving her crazy .


"I am sorry.. I don't know Why I'm crying .. I guess it's all this shit they got pumping through me..This is going to sound rather stupid but did you enjoy our date?" He asked with a sniffle.

"OF COURSE!! .. Well, up till Blob showed up it was the best time I had in years .. Thank you. If you want maybe we could go to another concert when this thing with Magneto blows over." Rogue answered with a cheerfull tone.


"Hey I was going to ask that. But yeah I had a blast too.. So what band you wanna see?" He said sounding even more Groggy

" I dunno Maybe Murderdolls or Cradle of Filth." She said


"OK it's a date then......I think I better go now this shit they gave me is making me feel all loopy .. And I don't feel like screaming about little tiger cubs eating my sheets while talking to you.. You will never let me hear the end of it!" He said with a slight laugh in his voice

"That stuff don't fuck you up that bad does it!" She said


"Yeah it does. My sister was in the hospital once when she broke her leg and she started talking about letting the baby cheetah breast feed from her .. She was all kinds of fucked up. Which she kept screaming at the top of her lungs that "I am fucked up!" The fact she was in a Catholic hospital made it worse though..."

"You got to be fucking kidding me! really?" Rogue asked laughing.

*Damn he sure has some great stories* She thought to herself.


"Yeah No joke I am serious. I will even let Jean see it if you want her to show you .. it was pretty funny. OK I have to go now for real I feel fucked up right now .. I love you Marie" Matthew said his voice sounding sad letting it be known he didn't want to hang up.

"I love you too Matthew bye" She said sounding a little sad


The phone went silent then their was a dial tone. She laid there thinking to herself


*What would he have done if I had been killed? What Would I have done if he was killed? My God No wonder he is so protective of me. He must think I am going to die on him at any moment I can understand. I would Probably be the same if I lost my whole family like that. I haven't even thought about him getting hurt. I thought he was invincible. Blob is Lucky he is in a coma or I would send Logan after his fat ass. So is Wanda. There has to be another reason why he didn't hurt her. Maybe cause she's a girl...God don't tell me he won't raise his hand to a woman even under those kind of circumstances. That's going to be a problem if we have to fight one down the road. No, he said He wouldn't hurt someone If he knew they were going to leave Magneto in the future. Why the hell is She even here? Matthew Fucked up Todd pretty good and I thought they were going on. Why even ask that girl is fucking crazy anyway. Damn he is in the hospital right out of Surgery and he calls to check on me. That is so damn selfless. Or just crazy. God I hope this is the end of all this. I can't take another attack from Magneto or his goons. I don't think Matthew can handle it either. He has been in a fight over me for almost everyday he has been here. Any other guy would have just said fuck it a gave up by now. He said he would ask me to marry him ... ARGH!!! .. He was just joking. no he wasn't .... Lets just wait 6 months and see if he can still stand me by then ... God how the hell can he care for me so much so fast? Well, it has been longer for him than me. he said himself that stupid show has been on for Atleast three years. So he has known me longer. That's funny because that's when Everyone joined the team...Weird. I wonder If I could get someone to explain to me how that is possible so I can understand it. Maybe someone has some weird mental link With this world or something. Like what happened in that Justice League Ep (1) Jamie made me watch so I could Play Blood Omen 2 (2) .. Now that I think about Matthew looks Like Kain more than Meir Link...fights like him too.. I am going to have to ask him if he ever played those games when he calls or gets home. God I can't believe he said that when I offered myself to him. he was right though we should wait. Hell Jean and Scott went at it like Bunnies on their first date.. Then again Scott is just a big horn dog..Oh my God I said I would let him see my tits and everything hope he knows what to do. "How is he doing Chuck?" Logan asked While handing The Professor a cup of coffee.

They had taken Matthew to Muir Island as it was the only place with the equipment needed for his treatment.

"He seems to be doing fine. He just finished talking to Rogue on the phone." Xavier said as he took the cup of coffee.


"What did they talk about." Logan asked as he drank his coffee

"It was a very personal conversation Logan. He asked that I did not listen in and to ignore it if he started to project." The Professor said as he sipped his coffee wincing at how hot it was.


"Did you?" Logan asking with a slight grin.

"Of course I respect his privacy ." Xavier said.


"What did you think of his new look?" Logan asked sitting down next to Xavier.

"I don't know I was never one for Gothic Fashion. It suits him well though." Xavier answered with another sip of his coffee.


"I wasn't asking about that Chuck, I was asking about his face and hands. Jean said he scared the hell out of Blob when he changed like that infront of him. And Wanda kept screaming calling Him a vampire and a demon till She slapped some sense back into her. And I heard him asking if he looked OK and if Rogue would be afraid of him now." Logan said.

"Oh yes the Claws and fangs...Plus that glowing in his eyes doesn't seem to be going away either. This May sound funny but I think Rogue Might like it." Xavier said with a small smirk.


"Whatcha mean Chuck" Logan asked raising a brow.

"You and I both know how obsessed she is with vampire's and other supernatural creatures...She might find him Quite attractive now.. After all he does look like one now. Though I myself could never understand that about her." The Professor said


"Its part of the click she is into. I think they have to find all this stuff sexy or they get their membership canceled." Logan said jokingly

"That reminds me Logan He asked to speak with you when you got here." Xavier said sitting his coffee down.


"Sure thing Chuck be right back." Logan said before he walked into Matthew's Room. The smell of Blood and Morphine mixed in the air made his stomach a little uneasy.

"Hey Kid I hear you kicked some more ass today .. I saw Blob on the way here .. Damn you fucked that boy up pretty good. What did he do? Call you a pussy or something?" Logan said with humor in his voice


"No, he had the balls to hit Rogue infront of me .. Are the others going to be ok?... I couldn't care Less about Blob But The Other member's of the Brotherhood didn't even try to get to Rogue really...They where just at the wrong place at the wrong time." Matthew said with a bothered look on his face.

"Whatda mean Kid? You going crazy? Jean said that...." Logan said looking puzzled.


"I know what she said. I told her to say that to Hank so Marie wouldn't find out I only attacked them because they got in my way when I tried to get to Blob. If Wanda hadn't started crying like she did they would all be dead right now .. I couldn't Control myself Logan. I saw him hit her and every damn emotion I been holding in since the wreck just kind of went off like a nuke in my head. All I wanted to do was Kill him .. that was all I could think of was watching his life slip away under my fingers.......I am no better than Sabertooth. Marie Deserves someone better than me. She needs someone who can protect her Without putting her life in more danger when he gets angry."

Matthew started to cry. He didn't care he was doing it infront of Logan. He felt he had betrayed Rogue's Trust in him. She trusted Him and he had nearly killed three innocent people in a fit of anger For trying to protect their Friend. Logan Turned away and breathed in a deep breath before turning around to face Matthew again

"Kid listen to me. What you did was not your fault. You weren't yourself. You can sit here and cry like a fucking baby all you want about what you almost did or you can realize it was not your doing. I know better than anyone what anger can do to a man. I have killed more people than I care to think about. Some were innocent some were guilty. I accepted it years ago. I am a killer its part of who I am.. Its why I got these claws and why I got this mutation. I was made to kill .. You were made to protect. You didn't Kill them you controlled your anger before it was to late. That's something I may never be able to do. It doesn't make you a bad person or like that fuck Dog.. You just lost control for a moment that's all. If you had done all of this because you wanted to and didn't care about it then you would be like Sabertooth. But your are not. Because you're a good person and no matter what you think Rogue is lucky to have you care about her. She knows it. Hell we all do. You just have to realize it yourself. Now stop crying before I kick your ass." Logan said.


".......Thank's Logan" Matthew said with a sigh.

"Don't mention it now get some rest and get better or Rogue will kick all our asses" Logan said with a small smile.


"OK ... Can we keep this between me and you? I don't want anyone else to find out I said that stuff. Marie might get the wrong idea" Matthew said.

"Sure thing kid. besides I wasn't going tell anyway. People might think I was going all soft and shit." Logan Patted Matthew on the shoulder and left the room.

The professor was sitting with his Coffee smiling at Logan.

"Shut up Chuck....." Logan said.

"Whatever you say Logan" The Professor said with a small bit if laughter in his voice.




"What do you mean he defeated ALL of them? I sent the whole fucking lot of those children.. Why didn't you go with them! You are their leader after all Pietro. Or did you forget? This is the last time I trust you with such a mission you useless bastard! Get out of my sight !"

Magneto was screaming. This was the third time this new Mutant of Xavier's had thwarted his plans. He had given up trying to get the blueprints. Now he just wanted to Capture Rogue to Hurt this new member of the X-Men.

"But fat..".Pietro said


"Don't ever call me that! I am your leader Pietro. Not your father..You do what I say because I am you Master not because I made you! Because if you fail me again I will kill you myself! Now leave right this instant before I decide to end your pitiful life right now!" Magneto Yelled.

Pietro may never say it but he loved his father .... Even though Magneto was always mean to him he loved him. He hated himself for that for caring for someone who did not give a damn about his life. Only saw him as a pawn in his game of chess with the Professor. In a blink Quicksilver was gone. Running out of Magneto's room crying like a baby. Magneto was deep in thought


* Why did I ever trust such a useless child to head this operation. Perhaps I think he can do better because he is my son. No such feelings are signs of weakness. This new Mutant is more powerful than I thought. He was able to hurt Blob and not even Logan can do that with his claws.. Wait Mystique said he was touching Rogue's bare flesh. Does he have the power to cancel out other mutant's powers? Wanda can do the same. sometimes .... Damn that bastard for removing her false memories. Now I have to deal with her wrath all over again. Perhaps I should just kill her .. She is more trouble than she is worth. Yes, I will as soon as I am finished with Rogue and this new mutant boyfriend of hers. I can't believe this. In a week he has taken out over half my team single handed. No matter .. If you want something done Right do it yourself* Magneto thought with a evil grin forming on his face.
