"Hey, look..." Lance blocked Amara's door as she tried to leave. "We need to talk..."
She glared at him mutinously.
"It's about earlier."
She shot him a universal rude gesture and tried to step around him.
"I know Rogue's waiting and all so I'll be fast. I don't need her butting in," he grimaced. "I'm sorry."
Amara's expression became incredulous.
"I can kind of understand you not talking to me, but damn it, Amara, I'm apologizing here..." He reached for her arms and pulled her close, bending to kiss her. Despite his best efforts, she did not part her lips for him. "What else am I supposed to say?" he practically shouted as she pulled away.
Amara shrugged and turned her back on him, her tongue throbbing in pain from the piercing despite the painkillers. It was still swollen and she wondered how on earth she was going to eat anything that afternoon. She had nothing to retrieve from her room but was hoping Lance would leave, thinking she was still mad at him. _I can explain things later... _ She had reached her dresser and was fiddling with her jewelry box when Lance grabbed her from behind, lifted her off her feet and set her down face him. She managed not to squeak through great exertion of will.
"Talk to me, damn it!" He stopped short of shaking her, though he sorely wanted to.
Amara narrowed her eyes at him, not happy about this show of temper.
"I just said she was pretty," he complained, irritated, "I didn't say you weren't!"
Her gaze traveled down his chest to the faint lump beneath his shirt. The lock was still around his neck. She smiled and reached for his neck, hooking one finger around the cord hung there and pulling it free of his shirt, the bronze colored lock dangling from the end. Lance's eyes widened as she pressed a finger to his lips, silencing him.
"Princess?" His voice wavered slightly between uncertainty and interest. Lance was not one to turn down something offered freely, but at the same time, he felt unsure because their tension was unresolved.
Amara cocked her head to one side and appraised him coolly. With a sharp tug on the cord, she walked backwards towards her bed, Lance following perforce. With a deft movement, she turned and pushed him onto the bed without breaking stride, stopping when she was straddling his waist. He opened his mouth to say something but her harsh glare silenced him further. Amara wasted no time, part of her mind calculating how long Rogue had been waiting and how much longer she was likely to wait before coming upstairs to get her. She felt Lance's definite interest against her as she slid down his body, moving back enough to work his jeans open and free him from his clothing. He managed to stifle a soft groan as her hand wrapped around his length, her movements sure but slow. She knew what he was expecting her to do and smiled in a sort of cunning because she knew it would not happen, at least not for several days. Instead, she pushed her skirt up to her hips and smiled openly as he gasped in surprise, not expecting her to want to take things so far with so little time.
Lance closed his eyes as she took him inside her, catching on quickly that she wanted him to stay quiet. He could not quite figure out why she wanted it, but he was willing to play along. She set a near frantic pace, drawing responses from him faster than he would have liked but nevertheless... Amara raked her nails down his stomach when he seemed to be drifting off and he gasped, grabbing her wrists. She glared and squeezed hard with internal muscles, making him groan loudly. She smiled in satisfaction, resuming her previous pace. It was over far sooner than he would have wanted it to be, but she did not reach her own ending. When he reached to pull her down to him, she slapped his hands away and shook her head. She stood, righted her skirt and disappeared into the half bath to clean up, returning with a smile and a wave. Lance stared at the ceiling for a long moment before getting up himself and fixing his clothes.
"What's with you?" Kurt asked as Lance stepped into the hallway.
"I think Amara and I made up..."
"Oh? What'd she say?"
"Nothing. Where's Kitty? Storm sent me to find her earlier..."
Kurt snorted. "Gott gib mir Kraft!"1 he muttered, walking off.

Jean was very distracted, poring over the files in front of her. She realized she had been reading Rahne's file for five minutes straight about the time Kitty groaned and flicked a paperclip at the screen of her lap top. "What's wrong?"
"Kurt's appointment to get his Visa renewed is next week," she sighed.
"You got his file?"
"Of course," she said as if it should have been obvious.
"So what's the problem? He's all in order. He's done this a few times, you know."
"I can still worry. I'm allowed." She glanced up and asked "Scott noticed the earring yet?"
"Nope. Probably won't till next time he tries to nuzzle me. Even then, he won't care. He doesn't mind that sort of thing." She fingered the area below her new piercing lightly. The cartilage was still tender but she liked the addition enough not to mind.
Kitty sighed jealously. "Kurt's not happy about my belly button ring."
"Why not?" Jean gave up trying to read Rahne's file for a moment and turned her swivel chair to face Kitty. "He doesn't seem the sort to mind."
Kitty shrugged. "That's what I thought, but earlier it kind of came out that he thinks girls who get pierced are trashy or something..."
"Maybe it reminds him of the bad old days with Tabby," she suggested.
"He said something about that," Kitty agreed. "But I said some not nice things and he said some not nice things and well..."
"Ah." Jean smiled thinly. "Sucks. Sorry."
Kitty shook herself mentally and forced a subject change. "You find your ring yet?"
Jean's face darkened. "No. And now my necklace is missing!"
"Huh?"
"I went to put it on this morning and it was gone."
Kitty's eyes went automatically to Jean's neck; indeed, the usual birthstone pendant that hung there was missing. "Wow...any clues?"
"No, Velma, not a one."2
Beast moved past the door, taking a sheaf of printouts to Banshee, working in the doctor's office, both of them going over information with a fine tooth comb. Kitty brightened. "I'll make a deal with you..."
"About what?"
"I'll search rooms for your stuff if you help me with something." She could hear Kurt's voice in her head, calling the plan convoluted and warning her off it, but she tamped it down in a snit.
"With what, exactly?" Jean asked, her eyes narrowed.
"How are you with planning romantic weekends?"
"Why, Kitty, I wish you'd told me about this before the wedding..."
"No, goof, listen..." Quickly, she detailed the bare bones of her plan for Beast and Cecilia. "And I was thinking maybe you could ask Beast some leading questions, find out what kind of thing he's looking for and I'll do the same for Cecilia. That way, we can make sure they'll have the perfect weekend, no disappointments."
Jean frowned thoughtfully. "I don't know..."
"Jean, the man asked Kurt for advice. I love Kurt dearly, but how desperate is Beast to ask a seventeen year old for romantic advice?"
"Good point." She nodded. "Okay. When we take a break, I'll talk to him."
Kitty bounced excitedly, wincing at the soft throb in her belly. "I'll talk to Cecilia tonight and you and I will confab later."
"Confab?" Jean repeated dryly.
"Don't mess with me. I'm on painkillers."
