The Year is 2576. Apocalypse has conquered all of humanity Mutant and base line alike. All who have faced him have fallen. But our Messiah the time spanned Mutant Cable once told us a tale. A tale of a mutant Who's power was so great that our ruler could not destroy him. Their battle was great and tore open the very earth itself. For Hours days it seemed they battled toe to toe Matching blow for blow. Just as the unnamed one was to strike the final blow our ruler opened a portal in time and threw our would be savior through the tempus. But it is said he survived. That his power and will to live was so great that this "temporal death" Could not destroy him. That even now he sits in the very nexus of time and space training his now ravaged Body. We know it is true for our ruler has never used his time warping powers to travel the waves of time as he once did before this biblical battle took place. I am Marie. I was named after our would be savors love for which the battle was fought. I have told you these things because I wish to share with you what I have bore witness to.
"You can't be serious Marie. This will never work. Even if it does who says he still lives? We could find ourselves with a large rotting corpse."
" I knew you would act like this Scott. You are just a coward like the rest of them." Marie said getting out of their makeshift bed and covering her crimson red body in her patchwork dress.
"I am not a coward what you are suggesting is madness. The master allows us to live free outside of his slave labor. That is enough for me. This freedom you wish for has no possible way of coming true." Scott said pulling on his equal ragged clothes. He walked over to Marie and placed his hand on her shoulder on to have it swatted away.
"This is not freedom. This is nothing more than slavery. I am sick of being forced to worship a false god. To hid my powers. I want to fight. I want to live up to my namesakes Legacy. I want to see our lord Cable's dream come to pass. We can't do that without his help and you know that. If you will not help me I will find someone who can." Marie said turning to Scott before walking out of their small home made of large scraps of steel and iron in the slums of Apocalypse's capital.
"Marie wait!!! " Scott said running after her. But she was already gone vanishing in the smog filled air of the slums.
Marie walked for hours. Searching for the one person she knew could help her. She had found them when out hunting for supplies in the remains of an old crumbling mansion. She soon found herself standing infront of the mansion in question. it once tall gate stripped down to nothing more than a few arrant scraps of rusted metal and rubble. She walked swiftly down to the lower levels of the crumbling ruins Coming to the room where she had found it...him.
"Are you there?.... It's me Marie..remember?.. I need your help...Please don't hide from me I promise I am not a spy." Marie said as she walked around the large room. It walls caked in rust and long dead overgrowth of plants.
"What do you want? Can't you just leave me in peace." A deep metallic voice echoed all around her
"I need your Help. You know I would not have come back here unless I had to. I know who you are. Forge please you are the only one that can help me..us." Marie said trying to trace the voice
"Forge...yes.. I remember that name. How long it has been since I have heard that name spoken. If you wish me to help you will have to prove yourself." The voice said taking on a more human nature.
"How?" Marie asked
"Show me your power. I know you are a mutant. You rather unique appearance is testament to that. If you prove yourself worthy of your namesake I will help you."The voice said in now a very human tone and yet still had a faint metallic ring to it.
"I will do whatever you want just please help me." Marie said
"Very well prepare yourself child."
Forge's voice echoed before the room began to change around her. The decay gave way to the true appearance. Shining steel pure white lights. A room in the far upper corner with glass walls dark but with a two red lights like glowing eyes staring down at her.
"What is this place?" Marie asked in awe
"This is the dangerroom. Where the heroes your time now worship in secret trained to defend humanity. I have kept it in working order more out of habit than necessity. Just as I have kept all of the lower levels of the X-Mansion in working order."
"Then I was right!" Marie said with a great joy in her voice.
"Yes, yes you where right now shut up and fight ." The voice said in a very cold manner
"What do yo.ARGH!!!" Marie said as something struck her hard from behind. She hit the ground yelling in pain as she felt the flesh of her back rip open.
"Worthless and you dare to have the name of one of the X-Men! Rogue would be turning in her grave now if she saw this!" Forge said as Marie was easily cut down.
"I..I..am..not finished..yet.." Marie said in a low voice full of pain between her screams. As the person or thing continued it's attack on her now prone form slicing her body again and again flooding her with pain.
"I'm sorry I couldn't hear you what with those earshattering screams of yours.. I would suggest you just give up before you bleed to death." Forge said in a very rude and taunting manner.
"I would rather die than give up!!!" Marie yelled
"Then stop wasting my time and fight!" Forge said
Marie closed her eyes and took in a deep breath. Summoning the power she only used in secret. The power she first learned of when she was a small child. To forge's surprise the blood now covering the woman began to move in an unnatural manner returning to her wounds and hardening and quickly fading away to new skin say for one slash across the woman's arm which began to pour out like a fountain of crimson water forming into a large puddle under her hand. then forming into a ball she reached out and placed her hand over it only to have a blade of hardened blood spring forth from her clenched fist. She swung in the direction of the attacks and felt the crimson blade strike something. She rolled over and to her surprise there stood the unmistakable mutant of the great stories Sabertooth. His clothes covered in dust his talons covered in her blood.
"That's more like it. A unique ability you have there child Now show me what you can really do with it." Forge said trying his best to hide his surprise at the girls display of power.
Marie quickly jumped to her feet taking the blade that was now taking on the form of a broadsword in her hands and taking a fighting stance.
"Come on red show me what you got!" Sabertooth growled before swinging for Marie's throat wildly. Marie blocked with the blade and delivered a quick kick to Sabertooth's stomach. Knocking the wind out of the large mutant
"Nice block. I can see you have trained yourself well in the art of defense." Forge said
"That's not all I can do!!"Marie yelled before flipping over Sabertooth and striking him in the head with the butt of her sword. Sabertooth staggered and cursed before turning around and backhanding Marie in the face knocking her to her knees. Blood Pouring from her lip and nose then pouring even more and forming a helm.
"Stupid bitch stop with the parlor tricks and fight!" Sabertooth said striking the helmet
"FUCK!!!" Sabertooth said pulling back his hand with a growl of pain.
"My gift..my power is total control over my blood. I can form it anyway I want. I can make it as hard as diamond or as thin as the very air you breath... like this"
As Marie said this the blood covering Sabertooth's hands began to move upwards. Sabertooth paused and looked at the blood with a puzzled look on his face. Then quickly tried to clean it off but each time he tried it moved out of the way as if it had a mind of its own.
"You little bitch what are you doing?" Sabertooth yelled picking up Marie by the neck
"Distracting you." She said with a smirk before placing her hands on the side of his head. Then all went black for Sabertooth. A spark flew out of his mouth and he fell limp dropping Marie with him. She pulled her hands away form his head reveling large barbed spikes on each palm. As She sat the rest of her blood from the surrounding area and from Sabertooth moved its way back to her and returned to her body. Marie took in a deep breath then fainted
"That was fucking awesome." Forge said after she fainted
Soon Marie opened her eyes and looked around. She found herself in a room in the same style as the "dangerroom" with steel walls and white bright lights. She was laying in a bed with soft white sheets covering from what she could easily guess was her now naked body. She got out of the bed and wrapped herself in the white sheet. As she walked around the room she came across a desk covered in dust. On it where many personal belonging including someone's black rimmed glasses and a picture covered in so much dust she could not see it. She picks up the frame and cleaned off the dust. In the picture was a large blue cat like creature and an Asian women With Dark purple hair with a smaller purple haired cat like creature,
"Is that Beast?" She asked herself
"Yes, and his wife and child .. Please put it down." A voice said from behind her.
Marie dropped the picture out of shock. It fell to the ground the frame and glass shattering. She looked in the direction of the voice to say she was sorry only to gasp in shock again. Before her stood A metallic form with glowing red eyes. It was wearing a tattered X-Men uniform with dark brownish stains she could tell was dried blood. It's "face" was shaped like a normal humans it moved and showed expression in the same matter yet the rest of its body was very robotic in appearance.
"What happened to you?" She managed to say
"Cheated death....If you can call this cheating." He said waving a metallic hand over his form.
"How?" She asked
"That's a long story and I don't care to really think about it or talk about it for that matter. Now you said you needed my help what do you want from me?" Forge said
"I need you to build a machine to free the unnamed one from The Nexus of time." Marie said
"The who from the what?" Forge asked looking puzzled.
"One of the X-Men that battled Apocalypse. Cable told our people that he was trapped in a time warp because he could not be stopped no matter how hard Apocalypse tried." Marie said walking a little closer to Forge
"What are you talking about Cable told me He was killed." Forge said looking even more puzzled
"No Cable said he was not killed that he may yet still live in the nexus." Marie said in a tone that was become almost a religious fervor.
"Marie if he was alive don't you think I would have tried to save him centuries ago? The X-Men are all dead even me. I am just a ghost ." Forge said
"If he is dead then prove it. Build a machine to recover his body and let me see it myself. You do that and I will give you the peace you want." Marie said crossing her arms.
"Your serious aren't you?" Forge said narrowing his metallic brow
"Of course I am. Can you do it?" Marie asked
"I can build anything you can imagine with the right equipment." Forge said with a smirk
"What do you need?" Marie asked
"Hold it there. I can't just throw something together and hope for the best. I have to do research. It would be a whole lot easier if Cable was around he knew a lot more about time travel than I do. And if this "nexus" you said is what I think it is it's going to be very dangerous and very complicated getting him out of there. First we will have to go to the point where he was displaced. An event that powerful should have at least left something behind I can study......First I think I should get you some clothes." Forge said
"Uhh ok..."Marie said
"Follow me and don't touch anything." Forge said walking through the door to the room.
Forge Lead Marie to a room full or strange compartments it was dark and she could not see in them as soon as she reached the center of the room the light turned on reveling what was inside each chamber. The costume of each X-Man with a picture of said x-man and woman with a rose its petals long since turned to dust. The uniforms bore many rips and cuts each with the same deep brownish stains. The she saw it. A black uniform with a long leather trenchcoat with faded green flame painted over it many slashes and burns covered the uniform and the picture of a young woman who looked to be in her mid twenties sat under it. A faint smile on her face with purple eyeshadow and lipstick.
"Is this..." Marie asked turning to Forge
"Yes,...It's the best burial I could give them after what he did to their bodies...." Forge said before she could finish her sentence.
"I was going to ask if this was her...."Marie asked
"Yes,... She held on for a long time for the injuries she had anyway. She was holding onto the hope he would come back and let her feed off his power so she could recover. Why wouldn't she? It wouldn't be the first time he had came back form the dead. She was to badly injured to recover though. Then his horsemen attacked the school and burned their bodies on the front lawn. The once great X-Men....reduced to nothing more than a pile of smoldering dust and a white hot metallic skeleton. I was dying from my injures and took one of the training droids and transferred my memories into it...After a few modifications of course. The attack force thought I was just one of the training droids and left me alone." Forge said with a blank distant look on his metallic face. A look of someone reliving ghosts of the past.
"I'm sorry...." Marie said with a frown
"Don't be. Now about a change of clothes." Forge said walking over to a locker beside a chamber with a black shredded leather uniform covering a metallic skeleton.
"Is this the great warrior Wolverine?" Marie asked as the metallic glint of the skeleton caught her eye.
"Yes, Logan and the older students fought to give the younger kids time to escape to safety When the horsemen attacked. He was fighting like a man possessed. None of us had ever seen him like that. He took out two of the horsemen himself before they took him down to. The rest of them where easy prey once Apocalypse showed up. He took out the ones that staid behind to fight all out without so much as lifting a finger. But I could tell he was severely injured no matter what kind of Divine facade he was wearing. The Unnamed one as you called him always was good at stopping the unstoppable. Hurting the invulnerable and killing the unkillable. That's the reason he was sent to Egypt to Fight Apocalypse while Logan and Hank staid behind to guard the school." Forge said digging through a locker.
"I thought you said you didn't want to talk about what happened..." Marie said Examining each costume.
"I did?....Well I have not had anyone to keep me company for quite some time. I guess it's natural for me to babble on.... Ahhh here we go. I knew it was a good idea to keep these just incase." Forge said handing Marie a watch like device.
"What is this?" Marie asked
"Just snap in on your wrist and press the x emblem. And you can take off that sheet I'll keep my head turned till it's safe." Forge said.
"OK..."
Marie did as Forge asked. As soon as she pressed the X on the face of the watch like device she felt a quick blast of warmth over her body only to discover she was now wearing a skintight black uniform. It ended at a tight priest like collar around her neck with a small red x in the center of the collar and large one in the center of the chest cut out of the fabric showing her cleavage very nicely and making another red x out of her skintone. The top was cut off at her elbows and just slightly below her bust. On each wrist was a leather like wrist guard the one on the right with a raised X for which she guessed to make the uniform return tot he watch and on the left a metallic red x. The Boots Were black as well With Elongated metallic Red X's on the shingaurds. As She looked over the uniform a small crimson tear fell down her cheek.
"I am not worthy of this uniform..." She said lowering her head
"Not yet but you will be...." Forge said without turning around to face her.
"What do you mean?" She asked looking up
"No more questions. Just be quite and follow me." Forge said walking out of the room
Marie walked after him until they reached another room. It was Large with the same Metallic architecture as the other rooms she had seen. In the center of the room was a large circular metallic ring with a ramp leading to the center of the ring. Marie looked around the room and around the device in the center of the room with a puzzled look on her face.
"What is this?" Marie asked
"You're getting on my nerves with all these questions lady. And as for what this is it's a transcontinental teleportation device. I built it a few months before the attack it worked perfectly back then and I have kept everything in perfect condition. Still not sure if it will still work though. But what's the fun in science without a little bit of danger involved." Forge said with a slight smile as he walked over to a control panel in the far right corner of the room.
"Surely you don't mean to use this..this..thing." Marie said with a wide eyed expression.
"Of course I do. Unless you want to have a long lord of the rings journey to the other side of the globe which could take months without the proper connections. I assure you it's quite safe. It uses the same mechanic's as Nightcrawler's teleportation abilities. Aside from a bit of dizziness the first few times there is nothing to worry about.." Forge said turning around to face Marie
"Lord of the who?" Marie asked
"Jesus you people really are deprived." Forge said under his "breath".
"How are you going to study the rip in time?" Marie asked
" I could tell you but then I would spend the next three hours trying to tell you some more...I'll try and explain it the best way I can. You see a rip in time is very different from rip in reality. If there is ever a rip in time it causes a shockwave of sorts throughout all time. It is this shockwave that Cable told me he used to travel through time. If I can find it at the site of the battle I should be able to pinpoint just where his body is in the "nexus" as you called it. Did you understand that?" Forge asked
"Yes..well Kind of. You're saying that a rip in time is like throwing a stone in water. And You ride the ripples to travel through it. Is that right?" Marie asked
" More or Less. Only instead of the ripples traveling in one set direction there is an infinite number of directions they travel. But I have to find just the right ripple as you called it or I could end up pulling a dinosaur through the shift or worse case I pull a certain set of microbes through and all life on earth is erased from history...Hence the reason I need to research. Now could you bring me that box over there" Forge said pointing to a large crate that was even bigger than the teleporter.
"I can't lift that..." Marie said
"You don't lift it just press the button on it and bring it over here."Forge said
"ohh...uh ok..oh there it is..WOW!"
Marie said as she pushed the button and a large handlebar popped out of the front of the box and it lifted off the ground six inches. Marie turned to Forge who nodded and she grabbed the handbar and pulled. To her surpise the large crate moved as if it was light as a feather. After she bad brung the crate over to Forge she pressed the button again and it slowly lowered to the ground.
"Thank you now if you will excuse me I have some work to do. If you want you can look around the lower levels but please do not touch anything." Forge said climbing to the top of the crate and opening the top and quickly disappearing into it
"Ok then.." Marie said walking out of the room
*Why did he give me this uniform to wear? Who's is it? Was this used in one of the great battles? I can't wear this thing it isn't right....I'll just find my clothes and take it off.* Marie thought walking out of the room her arms crossed her head lowered slighting watching her feet as she took each step.
Marie Walked the halls and low levels of the X- Mansion for over two hours. She walked into every room she could as she entered each room she looked over everything she saw with a fine toothed comb. An hour into her walk Marie found the room where she guessed the fallen hero's had been placed. As she walked in she saw old dust and cobwebs covering rotting beds deep brownish stains covering their once white sheets. Yet everything else in the room was clean and sparking as if brand new. It was as if Forge could not bring himself to touch these personal objects. The deathbeds of his comrades were no different. As she walked and entered each room she came across many of the same objects covered in dust and cobwebs rotting away with the passing of time. Magazines old soda cans all left in a rush to the final battle. She soon came to a room that was completely full of dust and cobwebs as if no one had been inside for centuries and probably they had not. In the corner of one side the room was a host of all kinds of exercise equipment in the other gymnastic and martial arts equipment. She walked around the room doing her best not to disturb anything. All the equipment was rotting away the leather covered padding long since dried up and cracked the metal rusted and brittle. She walked to the back of the room and came upon a door. She reached for the doorknob only to have it fall apart when she touched it and the door fell of its hinges.
"oops....."
She said after the door fell and she entered the room. It was full of strange exercise equipment she had never seen before. A large machine with what looked like a weightbar but with weights so large with all kinds of mechanical devices on them she could never image anyone being strong enough to lift them. There were two of these kinds of devices int the room one on each side but one was much larger and looked to have more mechanical components. She looked up to the ceiling and saw large hoops covering the ceiling in all kinds of formations. This she could easily guess was for the Winged X-Man Angel to train with his flying ability. As she walked around the room she came upon similar devices all designed she assumed to help the X-Men all train their unique gifts outside of the dangerroom. As she reached the center of the room there was a boxing ring in the center it was caked in dust and giant cobwebs. its ropes and fabric long since eaten away by time. It's reinforced frame exposed to the light of the room. In the center was a robot in a boxing pose. It's Body covered in countless dents and scratches. The scratches were deep and in patterns of four some five all evenly spaced. She would have entered the ring herself to give amore closer look t this robot but the ring looked as if it would completely give way if she so much as touched it. She noticed the robot had the same metallic appearance as Wolverine's remains.
"This thing cannot be made of Adamantium. I thought it was unbreakable. No, it must be some other metal.... Who could have caused damage like this? These markings... I am not aware of any of the great warriors with features that could have done this outside of Sabertooth..But these are from someone much stronger... incredibly strong." Marie thought out loud as she noticed some of the dents were in the shape of a fist.
After she had looked over the room she returned to the hallway. As she walked she felt herself being drawn to a long hallway leading to a large door with a X in the center of the door. As she reached it the wristgaurd blinked for a moment and the doors opened.
"What is this....." Marie said walking into the room.
The room was larger. Larger than anything she could Imagine it was sphere shaped with long catwalk like walkway leading to a chair with a helmet like device infront of it sitting on a panel with blinking lights and a keypad. As she reached it she felt an indescribable urge to sit in the chair. as she did so she picked up the helmet and looked over it carefully. The chair and the panel all had a strange stain on them she thought at first was rust but as she looked closer she could tell it was blood long since turned to dust and yet had left its mark. For a reason she would soon learn she placed the helmet on her head. A mind shattering pain shot through her head through her whole body the moment she placed the helmet on her head. The room seemed to come alive around her the panels falling away to a large holographic display of the planet. Then the voice ripped through her mind a voice she knew was not of her own mind.
"Welcome Marie... I am Charles Xavier."
