Interesting start! I think you picked a good point in Anita Blake verse. Asher in this point is full of hurt and vengeanze. So he is not thinking rationally and is bound to do errors which means good drama for your story.

A story with my favorite Marvel character - Warren/Archangel. They are few and far between, so I'm instantly drawn to any that appear on this site. Such an intriguing start - has the makings of much drama and angst. Haven't read anything by Anita Baker, but you've pulled me in quickly. Can't wait to read more.
