Well, I never thought I'd admit that I even read stuff here, much less make an account, but this is the first story I've ever read here that I felt compelled to review.
I loved it, all of it. Who cares how old it is - and it's AU, so Logan can be whoever you want him to be.
I loved your characterization of Remy as a young teenager just being a normal guy being interested in Bella, and how that led to the manifestation of his powers and the inevitable reactions of everyone discovering he's a mutant. His painful decision to leave his family broke my heart. I was hoping they'd go look for him, but I'm thinking they respected his decision and reasoning to leave. Hopefully he'll visit them again someday when mutants are more accepted, although I'm sure his family would always accept him.
This story just seems to fit with Remy, I can see him hitchhiking and doing odd jobs as he tries to figure out who he is. The friendship and eventual love that happened between Remy and Denver felt real and was a natural progression. Remy realizing how much he cared for Denver after that anti-mutant rally was so sweet and was a powerful revolation for him. Even your description of their first time was so loving and sensual at the same time (not like most stuff you find on this site!). I did like that line when Remy was trying to remember what important thing he was forgetting, and Denver said "my mom's asleep" and Remy was like "that must have been it. Green light!" I wonder if they even remembered condoms in later encounters.
The ending was bittersweet with Remy deciding to go with the X-Men to learn how to control his powers and make a difference. Denver showed a maturity beyond her years when she asked him if it was really fair for them to only think of themselves. That part when I realized that Alex was Logan's sister was also poignant. The epilogue with Denver and baby Cherie (whom I'm guessing was named that because Remy called Denver chere) was sweet.
Things are looking up for mutants. I hope Remy and Denver meet up again and that he gets to meet his daughter. I'd like to think they'd at least stayed in contact with each other.
I'd love to read a sequel to this if you ever feel inspired to write one.
You should post this on fanfiction.net too; this beautiful story needs more exposure.
Thanks so much for sharing it.
