Perfect. It's beyond words, but I'll try nevertheless.
You manage to depict John and Bobby in a way that they *are* themselves instead of being a written reconstruction of them by a slash reader. The words and behaviour are theirs. I like the way Rogue is unable to express the obvious. The plot is rather simple, and that's why it works so well. I'm glad to read an ending that differs from all the other stories about John/Bobby post X2-encounters. Your ending is perfectly adapted to John's behaviour. You dare to choose not to please the slash fans and that's great... according to me, of course but I hope I'll not be the only one to think this way.

This was just great! A fascinating premise and really well done, very much in character and believable despite the fact that I hadn't really considered this pairing before.
